A Guitarchaeology is a deep dive study into the history & origins of a guitar. We examine every little distinquishable detail and compare with catalogs, print ads & historical photos to come up with the most accurate narrative of that guitar's place in pop culture history.
Video topics are organized into playlists and color-coded:
Red = Guitarchaeology
Green = Woodworking & MakerStuff
Yellow = Music Recordings & Live Performances
Blue = other random stuff
Purple = Hiking & Urban Exploration ( purple can be found on my 2nd channel Pinetop Jackson 2 )
You can find Pinetop Jackson on Facebook and Instagram.

The Grande Ballroom, abandoned in Detroit for 5 Decades
This video tells a brief synopsis of the venue's history, and shows every corner of the storied ballroom, every nook & cranny, no stone or fallen piece of ornate horse-hair plaster left unturned.

Found these screenshots while going through my archives. This one is really interesting. Apparently you could just mark your desired specs on this card, mail it in to FujiGen Gakki, and they would build your custom electric guitar for you. Anyone know the year this was in use? I'm guessing late 1970s... #guitar #guitarequipment #instructionmanual

มุมมอง 5K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
In fourth generation Subaru Foresters...2014 thru 2018...the cabin air filter is behind the glove compartment door. Step 1. Remove contents of glove box. 2. Pull the damper arm off the two-pronged mounting peg. 3. Push in the side walls of the glove box to clear the side stops. 4. The glove box can now be removed, allowing access to the cabin air filter. The replacement filter I used was Microg...

Dyed my fretboard black. Wasn't happy with the humbucker at the bridge, so i dropped in some texas specials in a black tortoise shell pickguard. Decked bridge and some 11 half rounds. Loaned it to my neighbor who moved and i just found it at a pawnshop for 570$ I layed the money down to get this upgraded monster back!
I work on Grand River in Detroit I didn't know I was so close to the famed location.
Great Hit ! my first time in was 2010 and now it's to far Gone to even think about saving , But the basement is Dry ...
@@starnorthtoflintridge6657 I’ve lived in Michigan for just over 2 years now. I’ve been wanting to see inside the Grande since day one, but it’s always been sealed. I was thrilled to finally find a way in!
Wow she’s in REALLY BAD SHAPE now so sad to see it in this bad condition amazing video brotha 🤟
Found about these guitars today ´cause there's an available used FG160-1 online and I already learned a lot thanks to your video, thank you!
Amazing much like Nelson's Trigger guitar
Very nice video!! Glad I was able to showcase it to you
Thanks man, it was great to meet you!
Thank you, I didn't think it would be this easy. Glad I didn't take it to a shop to have it done and could do it myself!
Can we talk about how underrated the drummer is?!
Just absolutely destroyed my Gibson knob doing this. Be careful if you try this...
I bought a winston classical 51 series at a garage sale in rough shape spent a week gluing it back together replaced the locked up machine heads and restrung it 3days of letting the nylon string stretch and it sounds really good
6:33 PNW... Detroit of old
Great sharing video 👍
But how do you put them back on?
What is the key in the ignition and turned to the on position when you touched the battery cables together?
They are light as a feather. Delicate as Hell, too. Any bump can dent, scratch or chip it. Wiring is cheap. Neck is nice as Hell.
Just bought one of these guitars at a thrift store for 35 bucks. Threw some new Ernie Ball Slinky strings on it and honestly for $35 the thing rips lol
Thanks dude! I feel i can manage that. My bass has like elastic bands for strings
I have had an all original (unmodified) '05 model with butterscotch finish and black pickguard for about ten years. It is the only "Fender" I play these days. My number one.
I had this guitar and because of bad choices in doing terrible trades I gave the guitar up for PRS SE. that’s what I get for not doing my research. Cause I would never make that trade today 🫠🫠🫠

This was so helpful! Thank you so much.
Two spoons from opposite sides sound like the way to go.
Nice.thank you ❤
Holy shit i e never been able to find any thpe of info on my garage sale guitar mine has that body i domt think i have this model but if any of you guys can helpe out on finding some info please i would be very great full it came with a case it looks like sheepwoll for pading on the inside
Thanx bro…. Been without radio since June it totally worked
The song is called Rolling Down The Broadway by the band Flied Egg.
Thank you for posting this informative video. Now I can replace my cabin filter.
😢
I remember those days.
You've GOT to be kidding me 😂
A couple of years ago a friend of mine brought me his sister's Starcaster by Fender, to check it out and adjust as needed. It really didn't need much. I tweaked the intonation a little because it was only off a little. Same with the truss rod, just a little to reduce the neck relief, a little. I had seen these at Bestbuy, way back, and looked down my nose at them. After working on the guitar, I was impressed with how easy and fun it was to play. After working on another one, with very similar results, I wanted one. Well two years go by and I finally decided to get one. I ended up with two S1's, and am very happy with them. I have no complaints about fret buzz or playability. I have no reason to play a Starcaster. I own a 2013, Fender USA, FSR, Stratocaster, a Highway One three tone Stratocaster, a 1972 and 1976 Stratocaster, and an SRV Signature Stratocaster. No, my S1 Starcasters don't compete with my USA Strats, but they are fun, playable guitars that will go anywhere with me that I would never take a more valuable guitar. But that doesn't mean that if something did happen to my S1's, I wouldn't be royally pissed.
Any one know where that guitar is now?
I read somewhere that it self-destroyed on day.
Nice demo. Singing.....meh.
I have a "Fender" badged Stella like the one I bought in 1969 for $29 USD new. When the Harmony guitar company was going under Fender jumped in to give them a contract to create a line of beginner guitars as a promo. I knew so little about guitars and felt I was a big shot because I had a "Fender". I had it for 8 years before it got damaged beyond repair during a move. When I went to replace it they were no longer available and the Harmony guitar company was gone forever. Decades later I saw one bolted to the wall of an Applebee's restaurant as part of their retro decor. I went home, googled it looking for this lost "Fender" guitar, and found one online. I bought it. It is in primo condition I love the sound of that aged solid birch axe. I've had several guitars come into my life Martins, Washburns, etc but bringing one of these back into my home has been a delight. I love it as much as I loved my first.
Thank you! When the first method doesnt work, the spoon does the trick. Thanks!!!!!
Removes 2 layers of plastic firls successfully 👌.
i lived in that neiborhood for a short time and i remember walking by there it was in 2011 and the sign was still up looks like somebody took the sign down and painted the place i never knew the building was in that bad a shape
I just used your spoon trick to remove the knobs on my LP Custom. Perfect !
Thanks!!!
i have one but it has no logo on top only on the inside of the guitar, what strings do they take?
@@Fun_vr probably nylon strings
Mine had metal on them I’m surprised they didn’t snap the whole bridge off
Those look like metal
14 years! the plastic under those knobs was there and I thought i was just destined to deal with it! Thank you so much!
John 5 had an endorsement deal with Ibanez in the late 90s for this specific guitar. The ad you showed with the sparkle one, I remember seeing in Guitar World magazines. It looks like an alternate version of the one he played with Manson on the Mechanical Animals tour. That guitar had a finish in gold sparkle and a Floyd Rose. There are barely any photos of it online. If you pull any videos from that tour (1998-1999) you'll see it in just about every video. I've long wondered what happened to this guitar, cause there's no info out there about it online. He continued to use an AX for the Holy Wood tour, but it was black like this model. If I ever met John 5, I would love to ask him what happened to these guitars. The gold one from the MA tour had to have seen a lot of playing. It wouldn't be until the 2003 tour he switched to his signature Tele for his final rodeo with Manson.
Res-O-Glas models didn't come out till the early 60s. Sloppy journalism.
Thank's for the spoon technic
How is this different from the lc they sold for 350?
Compliments to the drums and bass in particular, tight. And yeah, louder! 😊
Beautiful!! 🙌🏼
I heard they were Gutting out the insides of the Building for new corporate futures. -I only pray that someone like the Hard Rock Cafe would carefully removed the entire Stage and the overhead Stage light Box. The storied History of names and sweat left on those stage floorboards, -and the colored lights above baking it in could be preserved and live forever.
I found this guitar on Facebook today on my lunch break. 100.00 and it comes w a small peavey amp too. Thing looks brand new... even had some of the plastic still on the pick guard. Excited to sit down and plug this thing up. Funny coincidence, I'm here in Mississippi. I'm about 45 minutes from that Peavey plant in Meridian Ms
