Our preferred substrates are Cherry Plywood, Shina Plywood, and Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF). It would be amazing to deliver a workshop in Florence. Do you know of any art center's that have a big press? Ours is four by eight feet or 1.21 by 2.43 meters.

The light is UV and cures (Dries) what the little stamp put on the print. Probably an authentic mark.

The stamp is our logo, and we use it as a mark of authentication on each print. The ink we use is only visible under UV light. Thank you for commenting!

@@duffy666 it would be amazing to go to Germany. So much of the history of print originates from there. I'll scope out whether there's a press big enough around where you live. Would you happen to know of a place?

@@BIGINK I can ask around, however such presses as large as your are very rare... was Big Tuna a custom build?

​@@duffy666 some pieces were made by a manufacturer, and others by us. The bed is 4 by 8 feet in dimension. Hopefully, a place in Germany comes to mind. Please keep us in the loop!

​@@eenkjet You are welcome. Check out Fabriano Academia. It shares many of Torinoko's qualities but isn't as wide. The price is right, though. May I ask, where is your studio?

@@BIGINK I will do that. I'm south of Houston, a bit in the country. The Fabriano is a great option! 60"x60" a very popular size for dealers. A 59"x59" works out to $9 a sheet!? One experiment I'm planning the next months is to spray paper pulp at chopped strand fiberglass mat. The mat already has a "rice paper" vibe to it. I think I can OEM/fake a 7'x8' piece of "rice paper".

@@eenkjet Texas is one part of the US I haven't had an opportunity to visit. I teach a dozen workshops focused on large-format woodblock printmaking each year. My 4' x 8' press breaks down so I can carry it to different locations to print other's blocks. Check out www.bigink.org and instagram.com/biginkprints for examples. Your quest to create a faux rice paper is interesting. Let me know how it works out. Do you have a website and email list? I'd love to stay in touch.
