What Rothfuss has done to a lot of fans is quite similar to what Kvothe did to his band of mercenaries. Told a non-story with the ass falling off at the end. Fans have a right to feel cheated just as much as most of the band of mercenaries were.

It's only through you, today, that I saw the clip of Rothfuss saying he'd need voice actors and such. That comment put a giant question mark over my head, because why does a printed page need voice acting?? Especially if it's some kind of preview? So I completely agree with you that it seems the recipe is for him to lighten up and give himself permission to go without.

I am not sure I am fully agree with take on the tacit agreement between author and reader (at least I've never considered myself be part of such agreement). But I am absolutely agree with part 'what he should do'.

Mental illness is a reason, not an excuse. And to be perfectly frank, I suspect Rothfuss is claiming to be mentally ill solely because it would make many people uncomfortable with condemning him and induce some to automatically defend him. If he isn't exploiting mental illness, he's creating the appearance that he's doing so -- which is just as damaging, in the long run.

This was the kind of thing I was looking for but I can't listen to it. If I turn the volume up to hear you talk I immediately go deaf from the clanging and banging and sound effects between actual content. I turn it down to save my ears, but then I can't hear you when you start talking again. Very frustrating.

Genuine advice - remove the screaming from the intercuts. People's ears are much more easily offended than their eyes. This is a good video, but the screams are fucking abysmal to listen too and also very sudden especially for people wearing headphones. Really poor choice.

Oh my goodness I so needed your recap. Finally, I found somebody that actually, I feel like read the book without too much overthinking, and was able to give a recap that I could actually follow. Which served as a perfect reminder as I needed it. Let’s just say before your video, I watched other content creators recaps, and was annoyed by actually feeling more confused. Your recap was not only on point entertaining and funny. But it actually got me even more excited about jumping right into the latest novel. So thank you for that.
