JPN Experiential Museum, Bridging History and Architecture | Archohm | Built & Beyond
The JPN Interpretation Centre is built on the idea of creating public architecture, whose design vocabulary endows a contemporary value to past events, but stands its ground with its ‘new-found’ institutional identity, reflecting the polarised views of civic authorities, curators, historians and the general public. Designed by Noida-based architecture firm Archohm, the Museum of Socialism symbolizes the triad of socialism-freedom, equality, and brotherhood. Through thoughtful design and interactive elements, the museum invites visitors to explore the rich tapestry of history while appreciating the artistry of its architecture. What do you think about the design of this experiential museum?

    I 🤔 the Surat Diamond Bourse boasts an extremely bright future 😃😃😃😃😃. I 🤔 cut diamonds, which are still quite expensive to purchase and own, can be made more affordable to more people than ever before 😃😃😃😃😃. The Surat Diamond Bourse is in closer proximities to where the diamonds have been both cut and shaped; therefore, the transportationa costs associated with the cut diamonds industries are going to be lower, and better controlled than ever before 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓

    The old structure was relevant for that period. It was not going to serve the purpose of modern India's aspirations. To meet the current demand, it only makes sense to demolish the old structure and replace it with a modern one. I personally feel that preserving a structure that was built in the '60s or '70s is not a good decision since they do not represent history or modernity. It was time to replace it with a new one. The Bharat Mandapam looks amazing and is a perfect blend of cultural roots with modernity.

    • @TheArchitectsDiary
      @TheArchitectsDiary 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Your comment brings up an important point about evolving needs and aspirations. While preserving historical structures can be valuable, there are times when modern requirements necessitate a fresh approach. The Bharat Mandapam indeed reflects a wonderful fusion of tradition and contemporary design, aligning with India's current vision while honouring its cultural heritage. It's great to see how thoughtful integration of modernity and tradition can result in such an impressive architectural achievement.

    as an architect i understand that the structure was important, but it was beyond what todays requirement was for Pragati Maidan. I really like the aesthetics of the new development. My only two cents was, if a part of the old structure’s framework was preserved as an artefact and presented somewhere in the new complex as an ode to the past

    • @TheArchitectsDiary
      @TheArchitectsDiary 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Balancing historical value with modern needs can be challenging, but the new development certainly stands out aesthetically. Preserving a segment of the old structure as a historical artefact within the new complex is a thoughtful idea. It could beautifully honour the past while celebrating the present, creating a meaningful connection between the two eras.

    I believe India will truly develop if their is 0 poverty , like atleast every should get basic amenities like a roof over their head , water , food thats it. And the government should focus on that instead of creating infrastructure that's only accessible to the 10 % of the total population.

    One of the key issue with any development or redevelopment in India, is that they are often poorly planned, or planned with no consideration to retrofitting and maintenance. This is also key to several "Iconic" projects that were built across India throughout the 1950's-2000's. They are often not in tune with the local aesthetics, heavily depend on concrete or require extensive maintenance. The old Pragati Maidan had the same issue, while it may have indeed been spectacular in its heyday, it was poorly built, was too expensive to maintain and just didn't fit the current and future needs. Also in a country where millenia old heritage is being lost daily, I find it amusing that Mr. Rewal thinks his works are worthy of preservation and goes as far as to compare it to Taj Mahal, which tells a lot about what is wrong with Heritage Preservation in India.

    • @TheArchitectsDiary
      @TheArchitectsDiary หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for sharing your insights. Thoughtful planning, sustainability, and maintenance are indeed crucial for the longevity and relevance of development projects. No doubt the old Rewals pyramidal n cubicle structure looked very impressive, I was there in 1972 Fair. Over a period it started looking jaded as was observed while attending innumerable exhibitions n Fair and the biggest mega events like Auto-Expos which actually used all the pavilions at Pragati Maidan. It was during this Auto-Expo events the deficiencies n impracticality of the structure n the space it occupied came starkly out, both inside n outside, it was sheer wastage of space that was so precious. Approach to the structure n display within stood incongruent for the visitors as sometimes the objects exhibited looked lost in the unusable expanse of the structure, besides not being well maintained looked quite out of place. Consequently it had make way for something more functional n utilitarian new creation. The new structure is of course is definitely an improvement in certain aspects and was urgently required but it is subjective to one’s perception of the whole project.

    • @TheArchitectsDiary
      @TheArchitectsDiary หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your insights on Pragati Maidan have a balance between preserving heritage and adapting to modern needs. The original structure was impressive, but its impracticalities during major events made change necessary. The new design, while more functional, may not capture the same charm for some, yet it better serves today's requirements of usage.
