Coquitlam Search and Rescue

Coquitlam SAR is a volunteer Search and Rescue team that serves Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Burnaby, Belcarra and Anmore, and the Province of British Columbia.
We are a non profit and are funded by grants and donations from people like you. We respond to an average of 35 incidents a year in an area of Southwest BC consisting of rugged mountains, inland lakes and glaciers.

Evans Peak Rescue
A short clip showing two Coquitlam SAR members engaged in a mountain rescue of a solo stranded hiker near Evans Peak in Golden Ears Park.
Coquitlam SAR was requested by Ridge Meadows SAR to assist them in this task.
In the video you can see the steep terrain that made the rescue challenging, and the snow remaining in the gulley. The camera is shaky but you can make out the two rescuers in yellow helmets and red jackets. The subject is wearing black and is not really visible.

Hover exit training 2015

SAR members training with Talon Helicopters for hover exit. This is entering and exiting a helicopter while it hovers, and is used to transport people and equipment to wilderness locations where the helicopter can't land. SAR Dog "Huddleston" and trainer Flynn Lamont participate, getting the dog used to helicopters.

Talon Helicopters landing at Coquitlam Town Centre Fire Hall to pick up SAR members for a search. Coquitlam SAR is lucky to be the only SAR team in Southwest BC to have a helicopter landing pad at their base. It is extremely useful, and we're glad the City of Coquitlam and Coquitlam Fire Rescue own and maintain this important asset.
