18 years of great quality. This bow was one of the best ever made and still holds its own even against the new market. Today is Halloween and I'm shooting every single day until we leave for Kansas on Nov. 8th. Trying to get as dead on as I can be before this hunt. You can never practice to much guys. Get out an shoot. Y'all let me know in the comment what you think of this old bow. Also if we ...

Mathews Switchback was one of the best bow they ever built. It maybe 18 years old but it's a killing machine. Now the sight on the other hand is a different story. I think its definitely time for an upgraded sight.

Hurricane Helene didn't care that we had a gator trip planned so we had to do what we could to get this one done. Marcus flew 30 hours before landfall and we hunting in some of the worst conditions I've ever hunted in. Thrilling sure, but we had our work cut out for us. Luckily we ended up with one in the boat. Hope y'all enjoy and be safe. Praying for everyone effected by the storm!

TRIM keep playing with it
@@ODLid1 yeah not a trim issue. Been driving these boats for over 8 years!
Put some shit in the boat lol it’s a duck boat
Thanks for sharing. I know exactly where you were.
Ill trade some turkey hunts in Tennessee for a couple of duck hunts in those woods!
I don't know man that's tuff I enjoy duck hunting a lot. But it's something about them east Tennessee gobble's
Great video
Learn how to drive one
@@dalereal7211 😂
Yall hit the wagon wheel?
Shouldn’t have to do that on a brand new boat….
@@hellofreeman6653 it’s common and not a huge issue to fix
@ still. Why pay money for a boat that you have to fix. If that’s the case they need to advertise it in the boat description. And I don’t see it being advertised on the website description of the boat. Low standards is what allows these losers to give us this junk.
That’s just cavitation because you don’t have enough weight in the front man
Notice how it runs with your wife in it. It’s designed to have a load in the front.
Yeah I talked to gator tail tho and they said you do have to bend that down in the back or it will hop bad. I just want to be able to run by my self wide open if I have too
@ could just throw a trolling motor and battery on there up front and that’d probably be enough weight
Also knock down a good 12 inch section just like trim tabs 10-12 inch trim tab and you won’t have to bend down as much.
Okay sweet thank you!
Trim tabs work good too.
You need to buy yourself a deadblow hammer
Just got a Matthews outback from my father in law. It’s been sitting in a hard case for the past 9 years… brand new condition! Excited to get out hunting with it. Just started hunting with a compound this year and got two doe with my bear cruzer (beginner bow)
Heck ya that’s awesome!! Bow hunting is so addictive! Congrats!!
Draw length is too long . Also look into a Bowmar nose button. Anchor first, bow head and Nose tip to string , not the side of nose. It'll keep you consistent and stop from throwing shots. Best of Luck
Thank you!! I’ll check that out!
You don't need that stuff. I shoot no peep on a 5 pin fiber optic bow sight no problem!!!
Good job Rhett!!😮😮
2005 Mathews Switchback fantastic bow I had mine restrung and put a cbe 3 pin sight shooting great..
I’m using a Drenalin that’s 17yrs old. Absolutely love it to the point to where I don’t need any of the newer bows.
Great video! Thanks for taking the time and sharing! Just some advice.. I’d also recheck your broad heads , they are more than likely not hitting with your field points after changing your release aid.. Going to a much shorter release will most definitely impact your tuning. Shop should have at least done a basic paper tune after suggesting a new release. Good luck with it man!! Hope your hunt goes great!!!
Heck ya thank you!! Oh shoot thanks for letting me know!
That’s a great bow! I bought it as my first Mathew’s bow! Next to the Z7’s that model was imo the best single cam bow made by Mathews.
Heck ya! Yeah I love it just need to upgrade the sight haha
I will say this at least you're trying to get comfortable with your bow before you go in the woods and draw back on a deer a lot of people don't even do that much so I commend you on that brother
Yeah for sure lol the crazy thing is I’ve been shooting this bow for years and years and always made good clean kill shots.
@@fowltinefilms well I don't have a rebuttal for that if you're making clean kills then nobody can really say much about your form because all that matters is that you retrieve your animal good luck this season
Brother I understand you probably don't realize it but you're gripping that bow like you're riding a motorcycle and you're punching the s*** out of the trigger and in my opinion I think you should just get that stuff right so you don't have to question yourself later
I gotch ya! I’ll look at that!!
Doesn't matter what brand. You need to lower your draw weight and shoot with better form.
Bear real bows out and eliet
Have a 2005 switchback, it's a deer killing machine. IMHO no need for anything else. Want quieter shoot heavy arrows.
Heck ya! Oh thanks!
Mathews and hoyt both have great bows. Shoot, any manufacturer with in your budget has really solid bows. If you have the chance, go to a pro shop that allows you to demo them and other bows as well. You might be surprised, the bow could just fit you better than others.
Brother in Christ how is your shoulder still intact with that draw? 😂

The camera lady needs a raise
Definitely keep this one, they wont make it agian and it still works and you can still get new strings for it etc. If you are looking for a new bow, wait another month until they have all released the new bows. Next shoot them all, if you go shoot the new Mathews and the Hoyt side by side, and then throw in a couple of the other brands, you may be surprised which one "feels" better to you in your hand etc, dont pick the bow based off the way it draws, pick it off how it feels in the hand and shot, the draw you will get used to after a few reps. If you are like me, you will want to pull that grip off the older Mathews after shooting some of those new ones. Or that is my best wya tot describe it. I wanted a new bow this fall, but I also know they are just now dropping the 25's and a good portion of the main players have already released the new bows, Im still waiting to see what changes are made to the two I think I am narrowed down to, until then, I am using my switchback this year and it has always done me well,. In fall of 2005 I bought in one day, took it home, got it sighted in and harvested a deer the next evening and since then, many a years I limited out using it all season, using it during black powder and rifle seasons, I have nor gun hunted in over 10 years or so now and bow hunt is all I do. I gotcha on the subs, consider hitting us back as well. Good luck this season young man and have a blessed week and great season. Dale, I am trying to get my wife in the tree with me just for that video as well. Good luck Dale
@@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors Thank you!!! You got it man just subscribed! I didn’t even think about the new ones about to drop! I know this switchback has never failed me it’s an awesome bow. I definitely need to do that with try all of them to see! Heck ya get her out there! My wife’s recorded a few of my videos and it always makes for a fun hunt to enjoy with her too! Good luck to you too!
I would definitely do some research but drawl length is too long, draw is not good and your trigger punching, all terrible habits but good luck buddy
Haha I guess judging by all the comments I’m gonna have to do something 😂😂 I’ve never had a problem in all my years bow hunting but I’ll definitely look into it! Thanks you too!!
Skydrawing... Unsafe and injury provoking. Draw level, work on both hand position consistency (grip less, solid anchor points), squeeze the trigger instead of slapping.
Thanks I’ll check it all out! I will say I was going way to fast just trying to make a fun video so that probably didn’t help 😂
I am always fascinated by people that intend to shoot at a live animal and do not care enough to learn how to properly use a bow ( or any other weapon). Poor form and technique so easily leads to a wounded animal. IMO, there’s no excuse to not learn AND practice proper? Punching a trigger release isn’t a good way to use it. I think people don’t realize the huge advantages gained when they are missing because they will not use proven techniques. And they intend to try and take the life of an animal. All to say “ look at me, see what I killed”.
@@timbow50 crazy how I’ve always made clean kill shots! I’ve taken many of deer with this bow!
@@fowltinefilms 👍👍awesome! Long ago I shot with the same technique you are doing. After changing to different techniques my archery became so easy. I couldn’t believe how smooth and easy with excellent results it became. There is no more struggling and wasted movement in drawing and making a great shot. Do you get tired after say 20-25 arrows? Do you struggle to hold on target or are you punching as the pin floats by? Been there done that and in the long run it sucks.
@@timbow50 that cool! Im sure it dose get smoother but my results have been excellent. I’m not saying I’m perfect at shooting but I’m also not wounding animals and shooting just to say look what I killed!
That sounds like a horrible trend from the camera woman!
@@copehu80 haha that’s what I’m saying😂😂
the draw looks a lil weird but if it works it works😭
@@sparkyy8306 😂 yeah it’s been so I guess I’ll leave it alone!
Dude you really need to watch some TH-cam videos on some fundamentals. First on drawing the bow correctly. Then on shot execution.
@@malcolmjohnson5941 haha well I guess I’ve been shooting wrong for 20 years. Seems to work in the woods tho. You’re not wrong on the execution haha but I was trying to be supper fast for a quick video.
Shoot all the bows in your budget range. Mathews and Hoyt are great but shoot all the bows you can and find what has the best feel for you. Good luck this season!
@@huntermanack4643 yeah man good luck to you too!
I have really been looking hard at buying these, my understanding is they do not record in widescreen? How were you able to upload hd video in widescreen. Thanks and great video.
Hey yeah they record in portrait mode and then when I put it in Final Cut Pro to edit it I transformed it to wide screen. Pretty much just cropped in so I lost some of the frame by doing that.
@@fowltinefilms did you use any % increase or just crop down to be 16:9? Sorry for all the questions.
@@deadleafmedia9804 no you’re good! Yeah just percentage increase
Did you check the shelf?😂
Hahaha no I didn’t😂😂
Drawl length is a bit long
Thanks!! He’s gonna adjust it!!
Try a little bit of weight up front (anchor, life jackets etc) should help some.
Cameraman needs a serious talking to lol
trim it down when it hops,,, until your full speed then trim up
you sure its not a trim issue ?
Oh no it’s definitely not that. It would hop bad the first little bit of trimming up. I talked to GatorTail as well and they told me this is what to do
They should tune them from the factory or redesign the hull from the start as much as the boats cost!
Hell yah that was sweet dude good job 👍
Thanks man!!
Good video! 12’ is next on the list!! Definitely a rookie move on the bang stick!
For sure!! Haha yeah it was😂
