Dealing with Shame and Guilt in Recovery
Dealing with Shame and Guilt in Recovery
Shame and guilt are common emotions in addiction recovery, often stemming from past behaviors and mistakes. While these feelings can be overwhelming, addressing them is crucial for long-term healing. It’s important to distinguish between guilt (regret for actions) and shame (feeling unworthy). Therapy, support groups, and self-compassion practices help individuals process these emotions constructively. By acknowledging past mistakes and learning from them, individuals can transform shame and guilt into motivation for positive change, strengthening their recovery journey. Seeking professional guidance is essential to navigate these emotions effectively.

Being Pregnant and on Drugs, What Happens?
มุมมอง 2212 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Being Pregnant and on Drugs: What Happens? Drug use during pregnancy can have severe consequences for both the mother and baby. Substances like opioids, alcohol, or stimulants can lead to complications such as miscarriage, preterm birth, low birth weight, and developmental issues. Babies may also suffer from Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), experiencing withdrawal symptoms after birth. It’s ...

Should I Go to AA or Rehab? Choosing between Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and rehab depends on your individual needs. AA offers peer support and a structured 12-step program, which can be ideal for those seeking ongoing, community-based support. Rehab, on the other hand, provides more intensive, medically-supervised treatment for addiction, often including detox and therapy. If you're dealing with...

My doctor gave me a drug test and said I was negative for benzos. That was a false negative, and they didn't retest at another lab. They just basically called me a liar. They took me off cold turkey. Im trying to live normally working and taking care of children and elderly. I have come off disability with the ticket to work program because cancer nearly killed me, but Im doing much better. I can't replace the job because of the economy and there's nothing else like it I can find. Im trying to find another doctor, but I'm finding long waits 3+ months for the first appointment. Most are not accepting new patients because my area is overpopulated. Im at a loss as of what to do.

The answer is no. Alcohol can become our new addiction, only leaving us cross-addicted to both substances. Or alcohol will lower our inhibitions and cause a relapse to our main drug of choice.

This is from Google; Can mirtazapine cause chronic fatigue? It's interesting to note that mirtazapine may cause 'sleep disorders', with fatigue also being a common side effect. While mirtazapine may help you to sleep better while you're taking it, it's well recognised that insomnia can develop after stopping taking the drug. My Question; Hey, sry to ask This here but i need help, i took mirtazapine for 2 months 30mg Then did the stupidity to stop abruptly, which medication can i take to reverse that fatigue effect? Plz anything would help, please answer freely, i promise to ask My doctor first

What if you get no high at all, just some relief? What if they've cut your meds several times but you never suffered from withdrawal? I'm sixty years old, been on morphine from 99 till about 15 months ago. Changed doctor and been on lortab since. Can't get any help. All I wanted was off morphine. What's wrong with Percocet. I see why the suicide rate is up. I'm scared my time is coming, the pain has won.

My use was, .25 mg or less a day for 3-4 months. Usually.125 mid day and .125 mg at night to sleep. Not high at all. I didn’t think I needed to taper off such a low dose. I’m experiencing WD symptoms. Brain fog, hand tremors, insomnia. I do not expect to be withdrawing for years. I pray not.

It's not just about heroin it's about cocaine meth I know two people that are very close to me one is addicted to meth and alcohol the other one is addicted to cocaine and a little bit of alcohol but not a lot more the cocaine how do you tell that loved one the one who is addicted to cocaine how do you tell them hey you look like you're going to die in 2 to 3 years I see your bones how do you tell him in a way that they know you're just concerned how do you tell that loved one you want them to go to rehab but you're not forcing them to do it cuz you can't force a person to do anything but how do you tell him in a way where they don't become very defensive and passive aggressive and out of control how do you tell that loved one that you just want to go get help that you can't do this with them anymore you just want that to go get help go get counseling parenting classes and you want them to learn how to keep their home clean and you just want them to be a happier and healthier person so they can be a part of your family again but how do you tell them in a way that they don't think you're being judgmental you're being nagging how do you tell that individual in a way that they realize whoa I really need to go do this and they get up off their butt and they go do it how do you what do you say because I'll tell you this individual I'm not going to tell you how I know this individual or how their family or how their whatever but I will tell you they have a child they have to take care of and I'm sorry that child is with a family member not their mother and it's sad because that child just wants their mom and their mom cares more about the drugs I have been to the point where I don't want to be around this individual no more I don't want to look at them I don't want to hear their voice because everything is a lie after lie after lie excuse Excuse excuse so how do you get a person that is this far deep into this how do you get them to realize that rehab is the way to go the only thing that's stopping them is the money and then not having Insurance the money is the big issue when they're paying x amount for child care they're paying x amount on their cell phone how in the world do they have the money to go to rehab especially in Inpatient Rehab program how do they have the money to do that when they still are working a full-time job like how can they get motivated to go to an in-house rehab program when their excuses I have to work I have to work what do you say to them how do you get this person to get help before they die somebody privately messaged me and just give me some advice cuz I don't know what to say but I know this loved one I can't tell you how I know this person or how they're related or whatever I can't say anything the only thing I can say is they look like they can die in 2 to 3 years if we don't get a handle on it now you can't force a person to do anything but how can you convince them this is their decision this was their choice this is what they wanted to do how can you make a person feel that they chose to go to rehab it was their idea not your idea their idea said that they feel in control so that they don't feel like you're the one that came up with the idea you're the one that forced him to do it how can you mentally get that individual with the addiction to feel that this was their idea they wanted the help they you know did all the things they could go to rehab how can you make that person feel was all their idea when really it wasn't their idea it was your idea but they want to feel like everything was about what they thought I'm in a situation where I'm lost for words and I don't know what to say or do I'm frustrated I'm angry and I need somebody to tell me what I can do before I lose this loved one I need anybody to privately message me if you are a licensed rehab counselor or therapist or whatever and let me know how to handle my situation I'm not going to give names I'm not going to give how I know this person I'm not going to say anything I'm just going to ask some questions but I need someone to privately message me on messenger on Facebook and give me some advice cuz I don't know if this person can live another two to three years going down the road they're going you can see their spine it's like looking at a fake skeleton in a science lab that has very thin thin thin thin thin skin and you can see right through it that's what you see on this person and it's pretty bad this person about a month ago had an asthma attack so bad because of how much coke they were doing and they woke up the next morning just having an asthma attack this person is only allergic to animals she only has asthma around certain animals like cats dogs and sometimes when she gets sick with allergies or a head cold other than that she does not have asthma not enough to wear a doctors giving her an inhaler no but I will tell you she had an asthma attack so bad that she was searching all over the house for an inhaler thank God somebody in that home does have chronic asthma disease and they had several different inhalers and she used one what would have happened if there was no inhaler in the home nobody home but her and her child would she have a heart attack I don't know so if somebody could privately message me someone who's licensed and experienced in this kind of situation and can just give me some advice some things I can try some things I can say or anything cuz I'm lost for words

I would say it depends on what's meant by the question, what's different? because there are many different sub-groups of drugs which qualify as opioids, for instance methadone and Dextropropoxyphene are in one class called Diphenylheptanes but nobody refers to them as that, except scientists. Then you could look at them by how they interact with different opioid receptors. I'm on Buprenorphine which is unique sort of in that it's a partial agonist agonist/antagonist and would cause withdrawal symptoms in anyone dependent on Morphine.

I've been through 4 withdrawals in my first 6 months of use Feb - Aug. 2024. Each one lasted 7 days, exactly 7 days. Same symptoms. Anhedonia and stomach pain and no energy were the worst. Just try to sleep through it til your body remakes and replenishes the dopamine, oxytocin, and seratonin. Beer helped me alot, and sweets and good healthy food too. But from my experience each one took 7 days is my point. Then it's over, then you can choose to use or not. I LOVE it, so I chose to use. Past 6 weeks I haven't been without. No "comedown", no crash, no withdrawals. It may happen again, and be hell, BUT I know what to expect, how to suffer through it, and how long it takes EXACTLY. This is EXPERIENTIAL, and I could care less what any "professional" says about it. Enjoy Life!

Codeine withdrawal is often treated with methadone, which is the go-to medication for Heroin addiction, and it seems a bit heavy handed as it's many times stronger, but the dose will be much lower than with someone coming off heroin. Plus, as they are both from the same family or class of medications, the opioids, it will substitute for the Codeine perfectly and acts for a long time requiring once daily dosing. Codeine is an interesting drug because it's an inactive substance and requires the person's liver to convert it to Morphine for it to work, and this is interesting because people vary in their ability to do this. If you have two copies of the gene CYP2D6, you may get high from Codeine cos you convert it to Morphine really well. Ultra-rapid metabolizers.

Like with all benzodiazepines, the two drugs are interchangeable, as they work exactly the same on GABA neurotransmitter, but Diazepam (Valium) is 20 times less potent than Alprazolam (Xanax) but that's not to say it's weak or mild, but Alprazolam is highly potent amongst this group of drugs. Understanding the equivalences is important if you're going to either take them recreationally or be prescribed them legitimately.
