Checking and Slugging Meterbase
An example of one method of testing, slugging, and covering a single phase meterbase.
Meters are temporarily slugged until the permanent watthour meters can be installed by Journey-level Meter Electricians.

Basic information about the solenoid voltage tester, commonly known as the wiggy.
Didnt know you could use the xtree part without batteries, nice!
more meter videos please
I have one and use it all the time. Also have the Knopp K60.
The guys that work for the light company in my area have one issued to them before releasing them for field duty. This meter really cant be beat at its price point in my opinion. It’s very nice to have the numerical display when you need an exact number as you mentioned. Great video! You were thorough and to the point.
I have an Ideal Vol-Con "wiggy" meter and although my Ideal 61-747 400 amp AC/DC clamp meter sees more use and more versatile, I carry the wiggy instead when I only need to test voltage or continuity, and don't require a precise measurement. The wiggy is far more rugged and more easily fits in my tool pouch particularly when working in tight spaces, and by noting the vibration and pulling strength of the bar indicator, I know the voltage range I'm testing without looking at the meter, which I find convenient when checking a panelboard fed with 120/240 3ph 4w delta and need to confirm which phase is the high leg, either prior to replacing the panel, or the need to add a 120 volt circuit, or 240 volt circuit and using a slash rated rather than straight rated breaker and need to avoid the high leg.
