Gas Atomization of nickel alloys for metal powder production from our VersaMelt Multi Melting Mode Inert Gas Atomiser.     Which type torch you can explain torch model

      The torch type is a DC transfer arc. A bit like in TIG welding.

      It might be possible. The melting point is very high and it would freeze very quickly. The quality of the casting may not be very good. It may be better to melt it into a ring shaped crucible.

    Would that work with Iridium or even tungsten? Could those metals be cast into a mold ?

      Yes, the stirring works for these materials. Casting is difficult because of how quickly these materials freeze. But, in some cases it can be done.

      This uses a batch melt in a ceramic crucible. The bar/rod feeder type simply uses a rotating chuck mounted on lead screws and uses vacuum feedthroughs for seals.

    What type of gases are used for these plasma torches. Can these gases be customized. What is the atmosphere inside the furnace (vacuum?)?

      Normally argon is used, but helium is also an option. Some gas is needed to ionize. It should be inert to prevent reactions with the electrode. The chamber is evacuated first to a high vacuum standard, then backfilled with some gas.

      @@maniranjan7948 we make furnaces that melt 10s of grams up to 100s of kilograms. All metals can be melted.

    Can one use arc melting + electromagnetic stirring to mix filler material into the melt? It works with mechanical melt stirring, but the method shown here seems to be able to handle smaller batch sizes.

      In this case it is titanium.

      @@firefox2716 the molten titanium is held in a water cooled copper crucible, so it doesn't stick or react in any way. This is one of the only ways to hold molten titanium.

      The amperage can be 50-2400 amps in our products. It is a DC transfer arc type.

      Yes, most any metl can be melted in this way.

      It has the potential to be supersonic, but we have not confirmed this with any measurements. The gas pressures ranges from 500 psi to 1500 psi. We use a wide range of gas jets/dies for atomization. They all have different applications and benefits. This type is considered a free-fall type and this relates to the melt delivery. The two common types are close-coupled and free-fall but there are other ways of doing this work. I hope this helps! It is hard to know how to reply if you do not know the questioner's back ground.
