    The city is not ugly at all there is very classy american univercity with very beautiful student town and campus ,bulgaria elite study there ,and about the comunist blocks,it is not our fault that the red army 6 million ( bigger than the population of bulgaria at that time)people occupied us killed our king and forcefully install their puppet government, this is slavery it was no consencual,while before 1944 our countrry was piece of art build from scratch after we got liberated from turkish occupation in 1878 and we demolished all of the old buildings,for example in sofia only one mosque remain from this period,also our jewel capital sofia was almost totally destroyed by british american bombings without bulgaria fire a shot against them or the russians,even up to the end of the war we kept our diplomatic relations with thr ussr...now we struggle to pick ul the pieces and it is hard cause foreign power interfere in our internal affairs and put people who are obidient to them ,so for restoration of a beautiful house it is not needed very big ammount of money but they just dont do it ,partially to left the buildings to be conquered by nature and to take the land cause most of the old beautiful architecture is downtown and the sqare meter there is 5000-6000 euros,so they build hotels and houses and make a loooooot of cash,but god sees it all

    Greetings from Bitola! The guy on 10:30 was singing something about a sad love story, which is a song from a Bosnian singer. th-cam.com/video/xSNA3lwbZp8/w-d-xo.html . Also the line of people that you spotted in front of the building across, it was people waiting for new documents with the new "formal" name of our country. It was very late made public to the masses that we will need to change our IDs/Passports/DL and so on, so there was a line in front of that building for like 8-9 months. The situation with the stores is bizarre for non-citizens because nothing works on Sundays(Easter Sunday), Easter Monday is also a public holiday. On Wednesday was the election day, so almost everyone in the country got a day off. In addition to those non-working days, majority of the people, took the Tuesday off so they can enjoy a holiday of 5-6 days without spending too much days of their annual leave. Hope you had a great time!

    • @slowtravelblog
      @slowtravelblog 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much for sharing all of that. Whatched the video, what a beautiful song! Now the lineup makes a lot of sense. Also, must be a big pain to do all of that. I don't know if you noticed but the groups from Eastern Bulgaria (mostly those that you said look like birds) are dressed in traditional female clothes in addition to the masks. These groups also have the "priests", the "bears", the wedding procession and the seeding and plowing rituals. Obviously, it's not real priests, it's for fun and a little bit of good natured mocking of the religious organization and everything else. Some groups have the policeman as a character, others a politician, etc. I always find so funny how the guys chose the biggest and burliest man to play the bride 😂

      @@slowtravelblog im glad u liked my country . I think that the whole world is beautiful , but we Albanians, we have two things that makes us special and unique. First , here , u are now at the beach and lets say u get bored , if u drive 40km u can find yourself at mauntain top at 2000m above the sea ....and 2-nd , ( i dont know if or how much possibillities did u had to interact with ppl ) we are propably the most hospitable ppl on earth , in 2nd world war we saved the lives of 3000 jews by hiding them in our houses even though if the germans founded out we got punished as well , ( and a lot of us got killed for doin so ) . And we saved even 20000 italian soldiers from the german nazis just becouse they were left here in our land our home , even though italians invaded us right before the germans . Can u imagine French ppl helping 20000 germans after what they did in France.... Anyway , i hope i didnt bored you , i said it all so that u know something about the ppl too...wish u the best . Respect

    Is the Weather warm in Tirana for Tshirt? And where did you changed your money?

      Depends on who you ask. My husband is always wearing a t-shirt, so not very reliable lol. When we were there in mid November it reached a high in the low 20's Celsius / low 70's Fahrenheit. May till October is probably good for t-shirts for most people. As for changing money, we don't have other money to change over, so we use the ATMs.
