Welcome to my Cape Cod life
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 25 ก.ค. 2021
Hi my name is Rick, and I welcome you to my Cape Cod life. I plan to retire in a few years and it is my hope to build up my little backyard into a hobby homestead. Each season I add more food systems. I have 8 hens as my eager partners in my small scale permaculture approach to food production. Also let me show you how I use resources unique to Cape Cod to supplement what I produce at home. I enjoy digging for clams, gathering oysters and going crabbing I would love to share that with you. When you produce and gather good food then you have to commit to cooking it, so you will find cooking videos too! Please subscribe.

I Made Goat Cheese!
มุมมอง 47หลายเดือนก่อน
I was inspired by Jess Soward of @The_Farmers_Table @RootsandRefugeFarm to make cheese for the first time. This is a simple farmers cheese, but it is absolutely delicious. I don’t have goats, so I drove to a farm a little more than an hour drive and bought a gallon of goat milk. I packed it up in a cooler and drove home to try my hand at cheese making. Let’s see how I do! #capecod #garden #goat...

Tomato Varieties? EVERY SINGLE ONE, EVER!!! Kidding. Good choices for Slicers. I prefer the Pink Brandywine, only for its colour. For me, I added the Ukrainian Plum into my sauces. Great Choices on the Cherry Toms! I am not doing any micro or dwarf this years. I love the Aji Lemon Drop. I use those for my salsa's. I always grow the Sweet Banana, and my HabaNADA!
I am on the road working in Boston next week, and Denver, week after, so my Onion seeds start FEB 1st, and Peppers a week later! I MAAAAaaaaaayyyy do my first batch of Paste type, mid Feb, and the bulk of tomato March
@@gregbluefinstudios4658 wow you’re a busy guy! I think I am going to start my peppers Sunday. One of the problems with my garden is I have to contend with a tree line. I started my peppers early last year and did really well with them. Fingers crossed this season is the same. Last year I lost a bunch of tomato plants to early blight. I will be sure to mulch around them to cut down on the splash back of soil when it rains. I’m excited for the coming season.
First! 🍻

So many of the cranberry bogs in New England have ceased in the past twenty years. I pull the stems and leaves off before I wash them. I only do cranberries and sugar (in water). I do food milled not whole berry. It's one of my favorite things. I'll have to try maple.
@@kitefan1 it’s so true! The town this bog is in is trying to shut them down and sadly harassing them. It makes me furious! I donated to their legal defense fund.
