When I see Armstrong kneeling in the war,I think about how striking it was to me the first time that he’s fully dressed. This is a defining moment for him, one that changed the course of his life. He was branded a coward, and by some a traitor. The guilt of what he participated in, and what he allowed in Ishval weighs on him so much. What hurts him, though, is that people note his cowardice for the wrong thing. He’s an Armstrong, he should have stood against orders and led. Now, he is fighting to reclaim his dignity and in order to do so he needs people to see him doing the right thing. Let the other soldiers see his wounds as he fights through. When he strips, he calls attention to himself. He ensures that he will be remembered for running into battle.

I really liked the visual parallel of Father telling Papa that humans are imbeciles always making the same mistakes throughout history, and them watching literal children dancing in circles around a fire, the circularity and the danger of it all (I hope that's not a stretch on my part!). Also alcohol good, gotcha.

I don't know why it never occurred to me before now that the "Father" Hohenheim is talking with is just as much a product of his mind and the Pinako and Trisha, his sense of humanity is low enough he can justify "Fatther"'s viewpoint, even if it still disturbs him

I actually love the remix episode. It is a transmutation of the show. Comprehension - having seen the series I understand the moving parts. Deconstruction - pieces scattered breaking the narrative form Reconstruction - the episode is put back together as a way to distill what we have learned and reinforce the known themes

I'm pretty sure Ling 'tested' Ed just to piss him off, he's been shown to be able to sense Envy (and Gluttony) before and even does so again when Envy is still in the shadows

The philosopher's stone isn't just for their healing, it's also where their specific abilities originate from. Think of the abilities of the homunculi as if they are hardcoded alchemical transmutations enbeded within their very being. They cannot do normal alchemy, but they can naturally do their specific abilities through these hardcoded alchemical equations which are powered by their philosopher's stone. Greed can freely transmute his skin into an extremely durable armor-like outer layer of carbon. Lust can transmute her fingers into razor sharp blades and freely extended them to further lengths. Envy can transmute their entire body to assume the form of other people (envy is also the most obvious example of their abilities using the stone, since envy's transformations are accompanied by the same red lighting as a philosopher's stones usage like the homunculi's healing). Wrath possess a passive ability, his greatly enhanced eye, that doesn't require transmutation because he is a more limited homunculus compared to the others (as he can age while the others don't).

For anime's defense; this was also in manga. And when Editor told author that she should cut out jokes, because this was serious chapter, she was worried she would have to cut out boob joke... Editor assured author that, that's the one joke she has to keep.

Yay, it's the plot twist episode! Really fun reaction by Dara and expertly maneuvered by Cailin*, without lying too! *I did think the giddiness of the extra crispy joke was in danger of giving it away, but it worked, so what do I know 😅
