The concept of "Cinderella" is an ancient folk tale that exists in several cultures so there is no definitive answer what "the original" is, sometimes it's not even a shoe at all. In the Brothers Grimm record of it (Aschenputtel) for instance it's made out of gold. Charles Perrault was the first to make it glass. Cendrillon ou la petite pantoufle de verre. Yes lead glass (crystal glass) is a type of glass but a crystal is a crystal so if you have both "glass" and "crystal" as options then "glass" should be the correct one because even if it was made out of crystal glass it's not made out of a crystal but a type of glass that's just named crystal glass.

In the original, Charles Pierrot's godmother gave Cinderella a fur slipper - French practicality could not give rise to the idea of a completely unsuitable crystal slipper. 😁

@@QuizTest_999 This turned into a real fun rabbit hole. From what I gathered Perrault was most likely inspired by "giambattista basile" read an Italian translation from the original neapolitan dialect (well since I don't speak Italian I had Google translate it to English) and there is just "slipper" then I read a scan from an English book that translated the basile version and in that it's referred to as a "Patten"...which is pretty much a raised wooden shoe you "slip" over your real shoes designed to protect them or a dress from mud and horseshit in the road...so could be it went from "wooden shitboot" to "glass/crystal" 🤣 Which seems a lot more likely to me in 17th century France that he didn't want to use "shitboot" than them finding a glass slipper to delicate....its the French...just look at them😂 Us Germans on the other hand? Yeah I fully believe the grimms found it to fragile 100 years later and made it solid metal😁
