Makaira June 26, 2024 Mondays Rerun
On Monday we did not have a bite for the first 3-3 1/2 hours. Then it went crazy. Today no bites for 2 1/2 hours. Then a big billfish screamed line only to jump the hook. After that it was dolphin caos- singles, doubles and a quad. The quad included a nice 34lb bull

We upped previous outing. Jumped a billfish (good thing we don't want them) And caught eight dolphin including two biggies. Finished with a nice wahoo in over 1000 feet! Great day after the first three hours did not produce anything.

Last Spring 2024 Canadian fishing day on the Makaira. Another great day. No billfish seen, but many dolphin and hopefully an Oiler win!

Beautiful day out on the Makaira. Judy, Butter and Darcy go out to catch supper and accomplish the mission! After Butters flyin' dolphin, Darcy brought in a very nice one. Congratulations. Love ya guys!

Headed down South with the Butter clan and had lots of fun! Best part is that they had no idea where they were going. Azulik is in middle of nowhere very close to the boonies.

My friend Leon, out fishing on the Makaira looking to hook a billfish. Well, guess gotta be careful with what you wish, cause we hooked a white marlin, just did not catch it! After 4.3 seconds, it jumped the hook. Managed to catch 11 small dolphin. Lots of fun.

When you are lucky, you are lucky. Went 1/1 on both white marlin and sailfish. 8 dolphin and a beat up, tired Susan! Great job- reeled them in all solo! Congratulations.

Day two was a lot nicer water, but the fish would not stick- went 0 for 4 or 5 sails and 2 for 4 dolphin. Caught a couple cudas and released a double cuda- frigate bird unharmed. Lots of fun though.

After missing a couple sails, catching bonito, and several cudas, things got slow. Very slow. Then it happened. Emil, Cesar, Gary and JC in a joint effort, caught Makairas first blue. It was also Marcos first blue, and my first blue in a few years. Then hooked a beautiful sailfish on the way back. Felicidades.

Went out on the Makaira on a beautiful, flat, slow afternoon. Was able to catch two big cudas, a medium one and missed a wahoo. As the water picked up, and a visit from lucky, Mr. Turtle, we hooked Makairas first marlin! A feisty whitey, that kept taking off once it was close to the boat. After a lot of patience and some hard teamwork, Meaghan and Sean released the fish. Congratulations.

Nice mahi. I once caught a 40 pound bull on freshwater tackle standing on one leg (figuratively speaking). Not much of a fight, comparable to to 15 pound bluefish. They lose their energy faster than they lose their color.
