Good night! by Victor Hugo / A Comforting Poem for Bedtime!
Good night! by Victor Hugo / A Comforting Poem for Bedtime!
Good night! Good night!
Far flies the light;
But still God's love
Shall shine above,
Making all bright,
Good night! Good night!

Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare
มุมมอง 32ปีที่แล้ว
Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer’s lease hath all too short a date; Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimm'd; And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm'd; But thy eterna...
To Be One With Each Other by George Elliot / A Reading of a Tender Poem of Enduring Love
มุมมอง 63ปีที่แล้ว
To Be One With Each Other by George Elliot What greater thing is there for two human souls, than to feel that they are joined for life - to strengthen each other in all labour, to rest on each other in all sorrow, to minister to each other in all pain, to share with each other in all gladness, to be one with each other in the silent unspoken memories.
Silver by Walter de la Mare

Silver by Walter de la Mare (1873-1956) Slowly, silently, now the moon Walks the night in her silver shoon; This way, and that, she peers, and sees Silver fruit upon silver trees; One by one the casements catch Her beams beneath the silvery thatch; Couched in his kennel, like a log, With paws of silver sleeps the dog; From their shadowy cote the white breasts peep Of doves in a silver-feathered...
Barter by Sara Teasdale / A Poem About the Beauty and Wonder of Life

Barter (Excerpt) by Sara Teasdale (1884-1933) Life has loveliness to sell, All beautiful and splendid things, Blue waves whitened on a cliff, Soaring fire that sways and sings, And children's faces looking up Holding wonder like a cup. . . .
Song of the Settlers by Jessamyn West / A Reading of a Poem about Freedom
มุมมอง 109ปีที่แล้ว
Song of the Settlers (Selected Verses) by Jessamyn West (1902-1984) Freedom is a hard-bought thing A gift no man can give, For some, a way of dying, For most, a way to live. Freedom is a hard-bought thing A rifle in the hand, The horses hitched at sunup, A harvest in the land. Freedom is a hard-bought thing A massacre, a bloody rout, The candles lit at nightfall, And the night shut out. Freedom...

White Butterflies by Algernon Charles Swinburne / A Reading of a Gentle Poem for Children
มุมมอง 113ปีที่แล้ว
White Butterflies by Algernon Charles Swinburne (1837-1909) Fly, white butterflies, out to sea, Frail, pale wings for the wind to try, Small white wings that we scarce can see, Fly! Some fly light as a laugh of glee, Some fly soft as a long, low sigh; All to the haven where each would be, Fly!
Open Range by Kathryn and Byron Jackson / A Poem About Twilight on the Prairie.
มุมมอง 94ปีที่แล้ว
Open Range by Kathryn and Byron Jackson Prairie goes to the mountain, Mountain goes to the sky. The sky sweeps across to the distant hills And here, in the middle, Am I. Hills crowd down to the river, River runs by the tree. Tree throws its shadow on sunburnt grass And here, in the shadow, Is me. Shadows creep up the mountain, Mountain goes black on the sky, The sky bursts out with a million st...

There is no Frigate Like a Book by Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) "There is no Frigate like a Book To take us Lands away Nor any Coursers like a Page Of prancing Poetry - This Traverse may the poorest take Without oppress of Toll - How frugal is the Chariot That bears the Human Soul -" Moby Dick Theme composed by Christopher Gordon. Home Thoughts From Abroad by Robert Browning / A Reading of a Classic Poem for Spring

Home Thoughts From Abroad by Robert Browning (1812-1889) Oh, to be in England Now that April's there, And whoever wakes in England Sees, some morning, unaware, That the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf, While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough In England-now! And after April, when May follows, And the whitethroat builds, and all the swallows! ...

He Is Risen! / A Dramatic Reading of Matthew 28:1-6 1 Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white...

These Things Shall Never Die by Charles Dickens (1812-1870) The pure, the bright, the beautiful That stirred our hearts in youth, The impulses to wordless prayer, The streams of love and truth, The longing after something lost, The spirit's yearning cry, The striving after better hopes These things can never die. Isaiah 53:3-6 / The Messiah - The Lamb of God 3. He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and aquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5. But He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised ...
Where Go the Boats? by Robert Louis Stevenson

Where Go the Boats? by Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) Dark brown is the river. Golden is the sand. It flows along for ever, With trees on either hand. Green leaves a-floating, Castles of the foam, Boats of mine a-boating- Where will all come home? On goes the river And out past the mill, Away down the valley, Away down the hill. Away down the river, A hundred miles or more, Other little chi...

“I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief.” If only we could discard forethought for a little while :) It is a treasure to come into the peace of wild things. The flowing creek in the middle of summer, the buzz of insects in my ear and the silent, beautiful mushrooms on the forest floor. I am lost without them. I spent most of my life not realizing what I really had in all of those things, but I am happy to have finally arrived at this truth.

Hi Doudou, In this case "grave" means something like "engrave". Basically the author is saying "this is the verse you will write on my tombstone". Hope this helps!
