That's a good question, one I've actually been asked before. Honestly... It's just something I've always been able to do easily. However, my first guitar teacher DID train me to always use my pinky for 3 note per string scale runs as I have small hands (saying it would benefit me in the long run), so it might be partly due to that.

@@lamkin9188 I've recently decided to clean up my technique and basically try and do it like teemu does. Fingers almost perpendicular to the fretboard, index muting the strings and fingers close to the fretboard. But i notice that it strains my hand. So i was just wondering if it's because my technique is still bad, or if im just not used to the movements yet and my fingers are working overtime haha.

@TakeHit0 that sounds like a good approach. Over time, your hand muscles will adjust, and it'll become natural. Just keep practicing the best techniques for long term gains :)
