I used Moog # K750658 for the replacements. At the time of purchase they were being discontinued from RockAuto. There was a clunking sound from the suspension which is what led me to start looking for concerns. I called a Hyundai dealer with my VIN and confirmed the mfg date of my car was 12-10-11. The item # from Hyundai is 548303Q000. They are the same for left and right linkages.
2014 Chevy Equinox shaking in gear when stopped, fixed.
มุมมอง 8954 หลายเดือนก่อน
This problem seems to plague a lot of equinox owners. It took a while to finally find the problem as there are never any engine codes that show up. The errors I found with the scanner initially led me down the path of fuel related problems. I replaced the high and low pressure sensors, along with the high pressure fuel pump. None of that fixed it.

So, this engine came down for what?
There is a mysterious misfiring. All the usual suspects were ruled out.
Which piston rings did you go with ?
I’m thinking of going into my 2013 terrain and changing them soon
Sealed Power from Rock Auto. Standard size. I like OEM stuff typically but I didn't have quick access to them.
Great video! Appreciate all the effort it took you to take out the engine which helps to answer my question about the location of the Tubro Boost Solenoid. I'm holding on to the replacement part and it looks exactly like your Wastegate Control Solenoid (1:15 mark). The replacment part looks nothing else like your Boost Solenoid (1:40 mark). I too have the 2013 Ford Edge 2.0L. Is it possible that there are two different kinds of Edges of the same year/engine type? Or perhaps your Boost Solenoid is not OEM? Everything else looks spot on.
Thanks for the inquiry. 1:15 mark - Ford part # BL3Z-9K378-A is for the "Solenoid assembly- Turbo Control" according to Ford Parts Giant. It is called Turbocharger Boost Pressure Sensor" according to Haynes manual. 1:40 mark - Ford part # CB5Z-9E882-A is for the "Control Assembly - EGR Solenoid Valve" according to Ford Parts Giant. Both of these items on this vehicle are the Ford OEM genuine parts. Hope this helps.

Hey when you are putting everything back can you just replace the fuel pump fuse and all the spark plugs etc and start it, or do you need to replace fuse and crank it some to get air out of the fuel line or anything?
With the high pressure fuel pump it takes a few times of cranking the car before it builds up enough pressure to allow it to start. This car had the longest cranking of any that I've worked on and it made me think something was wrong at first. But it just needed longer cranking to build pressure. I ended up watching with a scan tool to verify it was building pressure.
@elvrolet Can you maybe give me light on my A4. Car cranks no start. RPM doesn't move. Had the codes P0016 Camshaft/Crankshaft Correlation. P0146 Lost Communication Gateway A. U0115 Lost communication with Instrument Panel. This is right after my battery died and Installed a new one. Right side windows doesn't work as well. 2011 Audi A4. Thanks in advance
@@mattdebeer5289 Are you saying that the car had no codes prior to the battery swap, and the car was driving fine? The Cam/Crank correlation is a big deal if it is true; meaning the timing is not in sync.
@elvrolet No codes at all. Was driving fine. Later the night when I wanted to move my car battery was dead. Cluster lights dimmed and my car cranks slow as if his dying. Tried to jump start it still nothing. Got a new battery the next day installed it. Everything thing turns on. It cranks but wont start. Search codes and it gave me Lost communication Gateway A- Lost communication with cluster and the Cam Crank Correlation. Cleared the codes didn't come back. But still no start. Right side windows also don't want to work. My RPM needle is stuck at 0 it doesn't move a bit. I don't know its wierd. How do you drive something without any faults or systems and then boom!
This video will help a bunch when I have to replace the knob to the blend door that I broke off 😢😅 but ig I'll do some upgrades while I'm at it
Clever use of a hood-anchored strap to make the pressure gauge visible to the audience during cranking!
what if when taking off the oil filter, some oil spill out to the left and drops to the floor? should i be worried about that little oil spill on to the engine?
No u shouldnt
I'm having this same problem on a 2011 Hyundai sonata. Done the break light switch twice now. Cruise stops working and the ESC light turns on solid. Heres the thing, when i turned off my headlights and it didnt happen again the entire time. Turned them on and after a bit it came on again.
Do I need that tool to unscrew it? Or can I use a wrench
It is a very small space to fit a wrench. It's been a while since I did this so I don't have a memory of if a full size wrench will give you access. The oxygen sensor socket is just a better tool for the job to be sure it doesn't round out the edges. You could potentially cut the wires at the base of the sensor amd use a deep well socket to remove it (maybe).
@@elvrolet just ordered the socket thanks
throw the whoke engine away... been working on ecotech for a while now... literary just by the looke of ur green engine coolant i wouldnt take 5000 to open it....these engines are very strict on oil, maintenance, and coolant (the coolant should have been orange). get rid offf ittttttt
This video helped me out a lot. Thankyou.
They don't expect you to twist it by the hose. For when you can't reach the gnurling of the brass hose fitting they have the pipes with the quick disconnect and rubber cone nipple. That's what you should have been using.
Thank you SO MUCH for this video post! My car started to lose power while driving, and the traction light came on. I’m figuring this will cost me well over a $1000 to fix, but I came across this video and the fix was literally a penny! No more light and no more power loss! 🙏
Man i wish they teach this in hs math class am probably not try to pass but study hard fr fr

Just about to buy one - Not any more ! thanks for reviewing
Got an acution special with this issue it wasnt appearant on test drive but once i filld up gas notice there wasnt a cap drove it about 10 miles starter shaking at a light felt like some one was pushing the car back and forth cheked engine light come on read codes p228d and p0089 visual inspection of the high pressure fuel pump looks brand new with brand new lines as well I've had same issue on other cars same code and an engine flush and oil change fixed the issue will inspect selenoids on the equinox before thinking on camphasers or high pressure fuel pump and sensors
Update replaced vvt selenoid appears to run better no more shaking for now no more code for pressure to high at sensor 1 for now
That's good news. Did you also change the oil and filter when you changed the vvt solenoid? Those little metal particles cause so many issues.
Thanks for the vid, i'm getting ready to start on one today. I thought I had done one but maybe not. Probably would drive me nuts looking for that one side bolt, lol.
Glad it will help, that was the idea foe this video, just help someone else along the way.

would you have the module number for the stock sub?
Great idea
Did you have to remove the coolant reservoir? I don’t wanna lose ands my precious coolant
Yes, the coolant bottle has to come out to have enough room. I would recommend just removing the water pump assembly instead of messing with it this way. Be sure to order the new gaskets. Check out my other video on the thermostat details. Good luck.
Did the car have any fault codes for the heater system or the control valve? I'm having the exact same issue with no codes at all for the hvac system.
No codes or anything pointing to any problem. I think if the control valve would have had an electrical error it would have thrown a code, but since it was still "functional" the computer didn't have anything to report.
I have had this problem as well. Took it the dealer back in December 23. They couldn't find cause, suggested cleaning throttle body and out over $ 200.00 for this. Few weeks later engine blew and had replaced took 13 weeks. Just got the 2013 Sonata back on Monday. Been driving for 3 days no issues until today same issue, loss of power traction control light on. I have to let up on the gas pedal to be able to accelerate again. Thanks for the Info! Has this fixed your issue to date? Ted
It certainly has fixed it. No.problems since the repair and I drive this car daily.
Thanks nice video
good day sir ,what is your contact details
Those shiny pliers told me what I needed to know really my friend let me tell you modern cars have A LOT of shit going on even in the dealership with manufacturer manual and $50ks+ worth of scanners sometimes it is really hard to pin point the issue for us You can easily spend years on TH-cam searching this and that replacing half of the engine and getting no where If only you’d know how many cars we see the owner tried to DIY it and either has done things with no effect or made everything worse Also didn’t you say you’ve done compression test and there’s been a low compression in a cylinder!? I assume you haven’t don’t leak and/or wet test otherwise at least you’d know if there’s leak from valves or ring!! I know HPFP if absolutely rubbish on CDNB and it’s a good idea to replace it (with fuel pressure sensor) but in %99 of the times it ain’t gonna fix this engine’s legendary miss fire I hope you haven’t waste your money on new plugs , coils and timing 🤣
Was it it misfire before removing
It was misfiring randomly. I ended up pulling the motor to rebuild. I also found there was a stuck open fuel injector.
@@elvrolet I’m going thru the same problem of just 1 cylinder missfire, everything has checked out good from compression to leak down to carbon cleaning & injectors my last resort would be the high fuel pump and follower
Great video
What if the mechanic put the new oil first after draining then changed the filter afterwards?
Its not a problem.
@@elvrolet thank you I was worried bc I never saw anybody do that and he is not used to working w European cars
Thanks for the review! I was thinking of buying the digital one you tested, but will go for a standard gauge now! Cheers, Dave
How much did u charge for the job
This ended up being for my wife, so it was all on me. But this would be a $1,000 job.
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Good video i need a my 2.4 ecotec refreshed but you've got more skills than me. How much is your labor for a job like this?
This rebuild is very time consuming. I only do my own jobs, but I would charge $1K-$1,500 labor for something like this. Parts would be on top of that. That is why a lot of shops just want to motor swap with a new or used engine, it's much quicker.
Very nice breakdown and well thought out delivery of info. Where are you located? Do you have the 4 or 6 cyl engine? What symptoms are you having? Does it shake while at a stop, in gear?
6 cylinder. It’s been idling kinda rough for about two years. As of last Friday it started cutting off at red lights or stop signs. 1st time it’s ever done that. Drives great. 214,000 miles on the motor. It’s the best driving vehicle I’ve ever had. Plugged the system check device in and all that popped up. Leaking oil too. I’m afraid to hear “we need to rebuild your motor or replace it “.
It doesn’t shake while at a stop in gear it just simply cuts off. As long as I’m driving it all seems normal. Great take off speed etc.
Thank you very much for responding. Truly appreciate that!!!!
There are too many questions to ask to go into real troubleshooting. I would start by checking, testing the VVT solenoids. How clean is the oil, filter, frequency of being changed. If the timing chain and guides have never been changed they could be stretched to their max.
Great video! Thank you! Sort, understandable, clear! I really like the little (cut out) window for oil change. I might would make it with a hinge...just to use for a longer period of time.
TERRIBLE TEST! Didn't even finish the vid. This is not a test.
I have a 2012 Hyundai sonata and these lights come on here and there an when they do it feel like my breaks are hard to push down on or if they are stuck and makeing a odd noise i dont know what to do it comes and goes
Did you get it fixed?
@@thagoochtookmylunchmoney8800I’m also wondering
Did you fix it?
Did it make a noise while driving too? I have a noise on my 2006 Tahoe, could just be the exhaust too but I’m just wondering.
I really can't recall that well. I don't remember any particular noise once it was warmed up and driving.
Excellent explanation of the bucket measuring process! I have a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, I have no clue as to why that didn’t use hydraulic lifters on my motor but I’ll be measuring this week and your explanation nails it! Thank you sir!👍😎👍
Did you scan the codes before fixing it? What codes did it have?
No codes were present.
The occasional homing of cam actuators at cold start up is not a problem. Occurs most often during cold temps, and after a brief start and shutdown. The actuators do not always return to the home position. At cold start, the ECM is running in open loop and fluctions are normal, even a few misfires during open-closed loop transition is normal. After warm up, in drive at a stop, ECO mode will lower rpm from to rpm an cause stumble. Running AC also does this. Oil quality, cleanliness, oil level makes difference. Fuel dilution in these engines affects and lowers viscosity which can cause VVT issues. I assume no codes set. P0014 is common when actuators start to act up. Definitely check oil, ECO mode and other factors that load the engine at idle in drive. I had a bad battery, that constant load the alternator and caused irratic idle. RPM is controlled by electronic throttle and by altering ignition timing, so cleaning the TB is a source. If the actuators are ratcheting home at start up frequently hot or cold, and VVT solenoids connection are good, screens are clean, then TSB suggest replacement of cam actuators. Good video.
