Great commentary and great reaction too! I thoroughly enjoyed that! One detail I don't see a lot of people mention though, is how I believe that Powder realised at some point the Ekko she was hanging out with wasn't ''her'' Ekko. You can tell through her facial expressions during certain moments. At some points she has this melancholic look in her eyes midway through the episode. But my confirmation came exactly when, at the rooftop scene after their dance, she said: "sometimes taking a leap forward means leaving a few things behind", right after Ekko insinuates that he wants to stay in that moment with her and stop time. Her facil expression when she said that said it all. She was reminiscing and accepting the fact that she too (and both of them, actually) has to let go of something: him (each other). That's why she doesn't ask questions about the kiss denial or about how he "gave up on her" or about "let's pretend its the first time" or about what Ekko dreamed regarding the state of the undercity and how he gave up on that dream too, despite the fact that current Zaun is thriving and in a great state in front of their eyes. Without any context, none of those comments would have made sense to Powder and she should have been puzzled by those words IF she didn't know already what he was doing and what was happening. Yet, she still goes along with all of it and doesn't question anything. Why? Because she knows and because she truly cares about him too.

On a unrelated note - I take it you will be watching other anime with Japanese voice over? If so, then I'll probably won't watch them and subsequently won't appear in the comments section. I don't like the overacting of Japanese cast that is everpresent within anime, and while I understand that it is intentional on their part - regular life of a Japanese person usually isn't as bright and in real life they DEFINETELY DO NOT talk or interact like in the anime - my ears don't like overly loud performances. There is also an issue of subtitles. Anime, first and foremost, is a VISUAL medium, so it's supposed to be perceived with seemlessness while watching it; subtitles distract you because you don't understand what is being said, you have to look down or up to READ what is being said and you may miss something important in the meantime; it's just absolutely inconvenient! P. S. Sorry for the ramble - I just can't stop myself at times. The parts describing my issues with watching in Japanese shouldn't have been a part of the comment.

I think many Avatar fans will consider what I'm about to write a blasphemy but I enjoyed this recap a lot more than the Ember Island players (except for one thing, but I'll get to it later). I believe THIS way of recapping would be a lot more appropriate for a "calm before the storm" - I didn't have questions like "How these guys even know what had happened if they were never there?" and also the creators weren't AS on the nose about breaking the fourth wall. For example, when Mako was telling his story the interruptions felt right at home - I can picture something akin to that in real life, and even if it's mostly an inside joke of creators it is way less in your face than the whole "Did Jet die?" or "The Great divide... let's skip it". However, despite my praises, there was an element that definetely wasn't for me - Varrik highjacking Bolin's reminiscence of the past. Sure, I believe he WOULD ABSOLUTELY do that, but I'd much prefer Bolin telling about all of his crazy adventures - he CAN be quite eloquent, if a bit simple-minded and naive. Varrik's over-the-top retelling didn't help either - jokes didn't land for me and his final remark was an insult to me as a viewer! I know it's supposed to be seen as a joke but I liked the story (well, most of it) just fine and it would felt just as good if Bolin was allowed to tell his side of the story, he could inspire those around him. P. S. I'm not as sold on leaving the portals open being a good thing, especially if we remember how spirits were in times of Wan. Sure, nowadays people have more means of self-defence (i. e. bending and maaaybe technology) but spirits live THEIR way without much - if any - restrictions, THEY don't have to adapt - it's humanity who HAS TO do it because unlike spirits, they CANNOT return to the place where they once lived. It may sound good FOR THE STORY, but I sincerely doubt many people in-universe like what Korra did.

Love this episode. We're getting here character's reflection especially from Korra. Really like that part.

Feel bad for the creators for having to do this sure they had to come up with something really fast wonder if looking back now they know they should have had Varrick telling the story. Granted I do think this episode shows how two of the main characters were used in this show with Mako being blamed by the writers for the romance issues even though he wasn't the only one causing issues. Also I think there is a reason why Asami doesn't have her own recap despite being the other member the team is that after book 1 she is very underutilised and doesn't have any arc or development of her own so all she can do is have a supportive role.

Them ditching unaloq I think is the negative fan reception to him in book 2

Killua thinking he could kill Netero in episode 7 always gets me. Hisoka would get clapped too.

This episode just nonchalantly dropping the fact that non-benders got the civil right to vote for the first time with Amon's revolution and the fallout/response to it. Continuing the theme that Korra and the world can learn something from all of her villains.

That was a great perspective on Mako. A lot of people don't like his character especially this season, but he has become a more mature man and, most of all, an amazing friend. I actually really like him.

If you haven't checked out any of the comics, you could probably do a side-reaction series of you reading through them.

I appreciate this episode and what the writers were able to do with what little they had. You can tell they really tried. I mean that villain phone call is possibly the funniest moment in the show. I always love when writers/creators can poke fun at themselves. And I legitimately love the Korra/Asami (and Tenzin) section. Hearing Asami hyping Korra up while she can only focus on the bad and then Tenzin coming in at the end to reassure her was genuinely heartwarming. This episode also gave us Asami making/bringing Korra tea and that alone justifies its existence in my humble opinion. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

This episode only happened because Nickelodeon told them they needed to fire a good chunk of the team or have their budget slashed, so ofc they took the financial hit to keep everyone on board. Remembrances is the result! Had to save on animation costs somewhere xD it's still a fun episode, just not what we would've gotten had things got to plan.

Of course this episode is not the best in the series but I always have a good laught with the villains phone call

I like that flashback moment of Morel telling Knuckle about what to do when he’s angry too. You can tell they’ve built up strategy and tactics in the field. In the manga it says Knuckle had been in 5000 fights, he might have been at Heaven’s Arena the same time as the boys.

Scar and the Ishvalan reminded me of the Quincy vs Shinigami war in Bleach. The quincies being completely eradicated by the Shinigami but only one person survived.

Knuckle is the guy, impossible not to love him, Youpi's growth and humanization is also so well done and the fact that he was fighting Knuckle specifically is a perfect setup since he's such a good guy at heart that has shown empathy and respect for those he admires and is a softy really, much like Youpi now in a way... throwback to Gon and Knuckle fights. And ye, Gon is on another mental state, boy's lost it but again, it's not new to him, Killua saying Gon's willing to trade his life is something we know for a fact based on pretty much every arc lol

I appreciate in this episode that they try to give Korra's team a bit more chemistry. I think most people do agree that there isn't as much of a dynamic with Korra's team then with Aang's team as I don't think Korra had time to give characters a chance to breath or interact with certain characters.

I really love this episode. Your perspective was very interesting. Personally I love that they immediately addressed the inevitable issues that would arise after so long apart. Three years is a long time to be away, especially from those you care most about. What I think is so well done is showing the subtle differences in how Korra interacts with Mako and Asami. When Mako snaps at her, Korra snaps right back. When Asami gets angry at her she immediately throws up her hands and backs off. We’ve never actually seen Asami snap at Korra before. It’s understandable that she got defensive about her father but the fact that she quickly brought up Korra’s absence suggests there is some resentment at her for being gone for so long. I agree, seeing them all come to terms with the growing pains at the end was really heartwarming.

Lovede your hype for Killua's god speed, I felt represented 😆also it had been teased back when he fought the dart siblings, with him conducting electricity through his body to react automatically to the fish/dart as a reflex. But seeing him combine that with having electricity power up his entire body and electricuting others is just OP, such a cool ability that only a kid that's used to being tortured could have, lol. To your point the Ikalgo stuff does feel like intermission I get it, also isn't my cup of tea even if it is so well written in itself and clearly Togashi's idea is to have us see everything in real time

This episode made me a fan of Mako/Korra/Asami. They give off a ton of energy at the end with that hug and they all clearly still love and care for each other.

I feel like the end is what really sells this show to me, because it's not like other anime's (Though i am very used to isekai's), but still the "wait for me is so much better of a pause between chapters instead of just being able to get to the prize immediately. I think this is one of the biggest reasons as to why i love FMA so much.

I know no one is being serious but it's super annoying for something that was already very famous and out a decade ago to be called 'Ultra Instinct'. I did it 10 years earlier and was still a super famous work. Why is it being treated like the rip-off??????

Knuckle almost dying and killua saving him and stepping in himself are like my favorite pair of moments in this series. It’s crazy because the whole time we already know what youpi is planning to do and we see knuckle fall for it, yet Im still able to feel the suspense.
