    Thanks to you guys for the thoughtful assessment of the various printers! The Bambu Labs is a no-go for me because of the required internet connection to the mothership. I think the recently announced RatRig V4 might be the way to go if you have time to build one.

    IMO building your own should achieve two things number one you learn the product inside and out and #2 you're saving money because you are building it piece by piece me getting into 3D printing a little less than six months ago I would never choose a voron and I love to build things and I love to tinker because I could still learn without building 1, it is extremely overpriced now I don't know why especially if companies like sovol can put out the SVOL sv08 for $500 which is a 350 size build volume why can't I build one for less than that, ohh I know people are gonna probably tell me I probably can if I sourced all the parts individually and waited for sales and timed my buys but that's not convenient and building your own should also be convenient that's why I loved building computers

    The beauty of a DIY printer is the customizability which makes it unlimited, i got my Voron 2.4 before the prusa XL release and i was surprised that the community was in-fact working on a multicolor solution like the prusa XL way back before the release of the prusa, i’m now eligible for such upgrade and the cost is a raw cost of material and my time, DIY printers doubles as a tinkering hobby and a 3d printing machine.

    Kingroon's linear rails is just a marketing trick, the printer as a whole is simply a POS. Avoid it like a like a plague if you don't want regret your purchase. The print quality or rather the lack of is undeniable. Thank you for talking about it ! I reached out to a few of the original influencers who got the machine for review stating those problems. Some of them replied in their comment section but none of them are willing to make a dedicated video about it. You should see the horrors that people have been posting in the X1 Lauch Group on Meta, it's much worse than on the KS. At this point I don't think Apex-Maker will go rogue, they are providing a bracket that is replacing the 4 standoffs that are breaking in almost every machine. It is such a rookie mistake, they decided to cheap out on supports (because the machine the influencers got did have that bracket) and it put their whole business in jeopardy. I still believe that it will be a good machine in the long run, it is such a better value than the mega 8k or mega 8ks. Peopoly silently decided to abandon large format resin printers and switch to FDM. We needed a new player in the large format resin printer space because Phrozen is just getting ridiculous with their pricing. Apex-maker were so close to a homerun with the X1... I just can't believe that all of this is tarnished by such a dumb mistake. Thank you again and good luck, I'm from Quebec btw :)

Yes, there was a few bad reviews on kickstarter from the early receivers, and you just expanded on those isolated cases and made it like the whole thing were a scam… I’m backer 643 - and I received my X1, curing and washing units last week… everything was perfectly packed - no damage at all… all machine came with Australian power cables… all three machines works perfectly… btw, I called up Apexmaker in China a few times and every single time, they were extremely helpful… I think you guys are being very nasty to this company without any concrete reason or evidence, other than here say… you shouldn’t be propagating false accusations like this… I reckon you might have got paid by another resin printer company to bad mouth Apexmaker…

    I have an SK1 and it's an INSANE value compared to ANYTHING Bambu offers. It has nearly stock Klipper and Fluidd, and is VERY fast. I swapped out for a .6mm CHT nozzle and I can print perimeters at .28 layer height at 250mm/s with some hot end tweaking. It's SO much faster than my other printers. It's not without drawbacks, but they're easy to overlook at the $485 price I paid. PS: they use non-standard SSH login/password credentials. On the 1.x and 2.0 firmware versions it is U: mks PW: makerbase Zero regrets on my purchase, I just really hope they fix the webcam issues with the current firmware version.

    Why to get the K1(C): 1) Enclosed CoreXY 2) Cheaper than P1S 3) Slightly faster than A1 4) Rootable, can install Moonraker and Fluid/Mainsail Why to get the A1 with AMS: 1) AMS for same price as K1(C) alone 2) Larger build volume 3) So much better slicer, Prusa-based 4) Much quieter than K1(C), noise cancellation 5) Input shaper works correctly stock, unlike K1(C) 6) Tool-free hot end swap 7) Cheap replacement parts

    the next major speed increase will involve something as such : Lets use an X1 as an example base. this unit moves the head X/Y -+ and the bed moves up n down. Now envision the bed also being able to move X/Y, but only by a few MM, like 20MM. If the head moves 200 X and the bed moves 100-X, the net result is 300. Yet the hardware is still moving at or under its optimal speed. ( NUMBERS are fake n made up, replace with realistic numbers). But what Bambu wants is the other direction. That is where the head also goes up / down, but only a few MM. Enough to handle a few layers. This would reduce filament swaps during multi-filament printing. Example, the ability's to print many layers, switch filament, then drop head back down and fill in. This requires slicer mods to take advantage of dual counter moving aspects. The same with the multi layer. some jobs might be fine doing 6 layers before swapping Or may only be able to get 3.

    • @3DGearZone
      @3DGearZone 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow, that's some outside-the-box (or should we say outside-the-printer?) thinking! I love the creativity in envisioning the X1 moving like a dance duo - bed and head moving in sync for that speed boost. Your 'fake n made up' numbers definitely paint an exciting picture. It's true, Bambu's approach is a bit different, aiming for vertical versatility rather than horizontal hustle. The slicer mods you mentioned would indeed be a game-changer. Let's just hope our printers don't get dizzy with all that movement! Thanks for sharing!

    Last August I bought an X1C. I'd never used a 3d printer before. Within 30 minutes I was up and running and printing a benchy - I've since had it printing for maybe 200-300 hours of printing and printed hundreds of objects, with at least 90-95% success rate. With basically no tuning or troubleshooting and only following instructions and some minor tweaking in the splicer. It absolutely blew away my expectations with how awesome and intuitive it was to use and how well it prints! Now I did have an issue with my first machine within a week, where it seemed to crash into the back due to micro LIDAR failure. The micro LIDAR didn't work properly after that, though the machine continued to print perfectly without it. I of course reached out to bambu and they replaced the machine at my insistence, although they were happy to send out replacement parts like the micro LIDAR if I'd preferred. So it was not a trouble free experience. However that was all sorted within a month and ever since then it's been delightful designing, printing and smooth sailing! I now have many useful prints and a newfound understanding and love for 3d printing! It's been an absolutely fantastic, amazing experience and printer! Thankyou bambu, it's not perfect but your x1c has been a perfect intro to 3d printing for this newbie :)

    Running over 4k hours on my X1C over 16 months my prints have been fantastic and would easily recommend it to anyone who wants to print vs diy printer. I think the other competitors to bambu lab still have yet to realize checking off specs alone will not capture an audience. *It's the whole experience that does it* . Think about from unboxing to first print. This can be done within 30 min. It is simple screw removal and screen attachment. Tightly integrated slicer and (non bloated) phone app. Camera, timelapses full printer controls. Consistent meaningful updates of features, like object exclusion, silent stepper motors, maintenance reminders and recommendations from the community. Integration of makerworld where anyone can print a model from a few button presses from the cellphone app without touching a slicer at all. One of the best multicolor solutions right out of the box without needing to tune or fiddle with it with the AMS and expandability of that system. 4Xams =16 colors. The act of cutting the filament before a retraction means that color swap is consistent, repeatable and reliable. Even layman can use the AMS/printer and only needs to load the filament and never need touch it until filament runs out...with the option of filament redundancy. A voron/ratrig system *could* print faster, they *could* have octoprint, mainsail and many other solutions but can it be setup within 30 min? How much tuning is needed? I think when folks say voron they need to say *MY VORON* as the printer is as good as the builder and parts selected. Where is the AMS system that works right out of the box? Ercf, palette? how much tuning is needed? Were is the makerworld equivalent were even non tech savvy people can use it? Bambu showed that the 3d printing field stagnated for the every consumer and the new kid showed up the old guard when they become complacent. I could go on and on about this topic. Fantastic video guys.

    Bambu might be a benchmark by meaning of speed and even aestethical point of view, but the closed system is definitley not what many 3D printers want to walk in.

      Our next video talks all about Voron, Ratrig, and Vzbot addressing exactly the point of open vs closed systems. We think you'll totally enjoy it!

      I don't view it as a big deal. Even those that complain (not all) can't even give a reason as to why they hate closed source so much. There was a debate on Reddit a few months back where some Prusa fanatics were dogging Bambu for being closed source. But when asked why it mattered they couldn't give a reason. I'm not saying there arent valid reasons. I'm just saying that the majority that complain are just lemmings following the crowd and/or Bambu haters.

    Bambu has good software because they apparently stole it from the people who originally developed it. Did they call it the X1 in honor of Xi? 😆

      It's pretty much Klipper for the firmware, and Orca slicer is literally a branch of PrusaSlicer... Funny how they failed to mention that.

    Good job guys. Obviously, there are no X1C killers... yet. But Bambu does leave room for competition on price, with the P1S still being a bit pricy. Bambu is putting out their AMS Lite for $160ish dollars. If there were such thing as a current gen K1 with an AMS Lite ($467+160=627), and the reliability were on par with the P1S, there would be no good reason to buy a P1S. Guys, Bambu just got everything right. Since the P1S with AMS, I have bought a QIDI 3 Max, Kobra 2 Max and an A1 with AMS Lite, and the only printer that can touch the reliability of the P1S is the A1. It's not perfect, but honestly most of the problems come from the AMS and network connectivity and not the printer itself.

    Speed is not why I bought the X1c. No other competitor has made a system like the AMS multi color system (As far as ease to use and reliability)! So these cheaper alternatives just fail on that front. I could of bought the p1s and kept printing abrasives on the Prusa Mk3 but said screw it and bought the x1c. Still mainly print CF stuff on the Prusa but options are nice.

      We love our X1C for sure! P1S has been fantastic as well, especially due to a lower price. But yes, cheaper options still have a long way to go but we love the diversity of the options available and it's always fascinating to us to chat about all of the printers out there! :D

    Can I please ask that you stop using the word tinker when you're talking about troubleshooting?

      Totally valid point, SmartAlx! I guess we are quite loose in our language since we are so used to talking to each other ... but need to adopt to a new a medium now that videos are public :D Cheers!

    The guy doing most of the talking sounds like he is gasping for air. I don't know know if it's an overly sensitive mic or what but it is way too distracting for me to focus on what he is saying.

    Bambu Lab only sells to limited number of Countries, not everyone can buy it, Creality sell globally through many online stores, and often large discounts from sales, never pay full price.

    @11: 15 The dimensions are a bit smaller on the X1/P1 series but it is not due to lidar. It's due the front left exclusion zone where the filament cutter gets pressed into the hotend. You can print a part to disable it but you effectively need to stop using the AMS since it will not reliably cut the filament before a retract. There are instructions and settings in the Bambu lab wiki if you look up "Print volume limitations, and how to use the full build volume" There are also ways to shrink the calibration/purge line as well.

    Hi Scott and Paul, Just to be clear, this is not an apples to apples comparison (K1 to X1) as the K1 doesn't even offer multi material printing... but thank you so much for your review, great job! :)

    • @3DGearZone
      @3DGearZone 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's definitely not! Folks often ask in 3D printing communities which one to choose, K1 or X1, so we often fall into the trap of comparing the two ourselves haha Thank you!
