no seasoning? 😟😟
I did season both sides with SPG it's just edited out!
Vegetable oil and seasoning the same thing???
@alvarocorral1576 not the same, but vegetable oil works just fine for seasoning a griddle!
I just bought some cheep wind gaurds and then a day later i watched this video and saw yours. They look waaaay better than what i bought. Any info on them. Great video
@robertobermeier9172 the wind guards on the Pro Series Griddle are built in as part of the unit! The Omnivore Griddle top sits down between them!
Oh ok. Thats why they look so good. I will have to stick w my aftermarket ones and see if it helps. Thanks for the reply.
@robertobermeier9172 that's what alot of people use they seem to really help! 🍻
Just put them on today. Going to try some breakfast in the am Thanks for the help. Subscribed. Looking forward to future videos. Thanks again
@robertobermeier9172 thanks for subscribing got a few videos dropping this next week!
Do you wait for it to cool down before putting that silicone mat on it?
Yes sir!
What scraper are you using?
It's the Blackstone signature series scraper!
Wait I just got a griddle, not blackstone, I thought you were NEVER supposed to put water on the hot griddle because it could warp? This is my first one so I genuinely don’t know.
I've never had a Blackstone griddle top warp on me when using water! I've used this cleaning method on all 4 of my Blackstones!
@@therosesbackyardbbq5351 thank you, yeah this is my first griddle and it’s not a blackstone, that’s just what I read on the manual. But if you’ve never had an issue I think it’ll be fine. Thanks again.
Thanks for the video, this is how i clean mine too. Towards the end you can see a discolored spot in the middle, ive got that too and food is sticking there, does that mean i need to strip down and reseason?
I did not have to! Each time I fire up my griddle I wipe a thin layer of oil and let it burn off so it continues to build it's layers!
Is there any reason you don't let that final coat of oil get hot and add to the seasoning before you turn it off?
I always put my griddle away with a thin, fresh layer of oil! Added protection! And it will burn in when I preheat my griddle for the next cook!
I have been cleaning my grill that way. Great video, works awesome
Thank you sir!
I've never used water. 😂
Great! So you like a dirty griddle? 🤣
OK so......what do you use then?
Just got my first Blackstone over the weekend and have been watching videos like crazy on it. Thank you for the simplified version on cleaning it. To the point and informative.
Your welcome!
Your welcome!
I just got mine last week and I keep watching videos too lol wanna make sure I take care of it
Picking mine up tomorrow!
@@Acesandeightz enjoy!
Great video. How can a video have 25K views but only 202 likes and the content creator only has 213 subscribers (BTW I'm #213, lol)? Come on people, it doesn't cost a thing to click like and subscribe, maybe even leave a comment, but it's a huge help to these small channels. Thank you for the great content.
Very much appreciated! Thank you!
Great video. I've seen the onion cooking method shown in wok seasoning videos plenty of times. This is the first griddle seasoning video I've seen using it. Most wok seasoning videos after they do a few coats of oil they'll take an old onion, rough chop skins and all, some wilted green onions that were ready to be tossed, potato peels, salt, and some oil and move it all over the wok, letting it sit for a few in each spot, until everything is burnt to crisp. Never seen it done with a griddle but why not? Carbon steel is carbon steel. Thank you for a very informative video. Liked, commented, and subscribed.
Looks easy enough, thanks!
Putty knife, check.😊
Thanks for this video! Hey, are griddle mats even needed if u have a cover?
If you live somewhere with higher humidity, it definitely helps, or if you only use your griddle once in a while! We cook on ours at least 5 days a week, year round, and live on the high desert, so it's not necessary for me. That being said, it is also a great protection against rodents getting onto your griddle top through the grease trap!
@@therosesbackyardbbq5351 ok. Thanks for responding
What temp did you leave it on while cleaning and oiling ? Medium or low or in between?
I clean my griddle on high! And shut off right before I oil it!
That’s pretty much my routine as well. Awesome sharing bro.
Thank you!
That gland and seam removal is a game changer. It will NOT render and it resembles alien skin if you leave it on 👽.
I'm New to griddle cooking. When reseasoning after cleaning, does the heat stay on?
After you've cleaned your griddle, with the heat still on high, wipe a thin layer of oil onto your griddle top and shut down the heat! Make sure it is thin! It's just acting as a protective layer until your next cook!
Thank you sir 👍
Brother. Great cook! The video is very well done. Ill be sticking around.
Much appreciated!
nice ☺️ well prepared ❤❤👌👌 new subscriber here 👍👍✅💯
I have the bigger grease cup as well. Good investment! They should make all these 36” grills with that standard.
These look so good!
Thanks brother!
@@therosesbackyardbbq5351 welcome
The only thing that makes sense about this is that it’s not really an actual question of how many times you can get it done, but rather how long you need to wait
I had to think about your comment for a few before I realized that I used a question mark in my title rather than an exclamation. 😆 There is no question. This is 100% a viable way to get crispy wings! This was done in the time it took me to make fried rice on the other side of the griddle.
@@therosesbackyardbbq5351 ah gotcha
When pushing the water into the drip tray, do you ever get flareups?
I've never had that issue! I will eat my dinner with my family, then come back and clean up. By that time, the grease has cooled enough that it's not an issue!
Great question!
@@therosesbackyardbbq5351 I am glad that you said that you eat first, then clean the griddle. I was thinking that if you cleaned the griddle before eating, your food will be cold! I was thinking that the cleanup was be much more time consuming too. Thanks for sharing.
Not going to bone it out?
I would if I wanted a boneless shoulder! Otherwise no need to!
Bad butchers sawing motion on the fat
It's only bad if the end product looks bad! 😉
Great video brother!
Thank you sir!
Great video…very informative!
Thank you!
Do you smoke it fat cap up or down? I recently switched from cap up to down. The result was amazing as the fat cap was meat candy.
Always cap up for me!
What if one like turns the grill around 🤔 afters 2 coats then turn around with handle facing the back
You could definitely do this! You just have to be smarter than me! 😆 🤣 You can also do it in your oven.
Where the heck are you? It’s impossible to find your address. You’re someplace in Oregon but it’s not listed on your Facebook page. It’s not listed any place that we can find what is your address? Where are you? How can we find you if we’re up in your area
We do not have a restaurant or food truck unfortunately 😕 we are just food content creators for the time being!
Is it bad not to trim?
Absolutely not! It's really a matter of preference!
nice cutting. I need to buy me a new knife. I just bought 2 shoulders and wanted to see a video on cleaning one up for pulled pork sandwichs. wanted to see how and where to cut to get it right. its been years since I did one. Thank you for the video!
'nice cutting. I need to buy me a new knife.' I thought exactly the same 😂
i love hearing metal on metal!
Great video teaching how to seasona flat top. A lot of people are out here looking for this kind of video.
Now that's how you cook a steak!! No butter or frying pan
Flame grilled is best for sure!
Cool
Did you wash off your griddle first ? I just put mine together and will cook on it tomorrow after I season it
Yes, I washed it a tiny bit of dish soap and water first before heating it!
Tongs, dude
Good call!
@@therosesbackyardbbq5351 hot oil burns really are a painful experience. On some blackstones, you can turn the griddle around and heat up the front better to get it seasoned better.
how many hrs u smoke for that bark?
Depending on the size pork shoulder. This was about 8 hours before I wrapped it!
@@therosesbackyardbbq5351 Got it👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 I will do the same on my next pork butt or shoulder. Thanks
wow gotta try these
They are so good!
@@therosesbackyardbbq5351 👍🏽👍🏽💯 I bet.
Man I been wanting to get one of these!!! It looks fun and makes for good entertainment for friends and family. Cheers brother.
They are a great addition to your outdoor cooking!
You have a nice collection back there. I started trying some whiskeys about 2 years ago. I’m a amateur at selecting and things like that but I do enjoy a bourbon 🥃
Thanks! Pretty new to the bourbon game myself but I'm starting to get I feel for the types I like now!
looks plump and juicy
Med with just a little pink plz
Looks awesome! That’s a badass knife!
Thank you that's the Dalstrong Shadow Black Series chef knife!
