I think like everything else, cruises were better pre-covid. We sailed on the POA on the second to last voyage before the lockdown, and we really enjoyed it. Although, we ate in the specialty restaurants or the one for suites, so that probably had something to do with it. Like everything else in life, your mileage may vary, but nothing is really the same.

I've been on the Jewel twice, the Sun, the Gem, and POA and have to say, that yes the food on POA wasn't as good as the others.

Your family looked like it was having a terrible time from start to finish. Very few smiles. Kids looked like they hated every minute.

afaik the crew would be 100% American. It is required, to be a US Flag ship. The whole crew has to be US citizens who were trained at a US Coast Guard approved facility to be "Merchant Mariners." 🙂 UK doesn't require the crew to be UK subjects, however, they do have to pay all the crew just like they would a UK subject. Same with French (Ponant) and Italian (Costa, Aida) flag. That Disney ship, a lot of them are probably getting paid $400/month, and they may not get appropriate breaks etc. 😲 That's why flag is very important to me 🙂

I think this ship would be a good way to cruise around Hawaii, and since she is US Flag, you're supporting a lot of jobs for Americans....the whole crew is required to be US citizens, to register the ship in the USA. 🙂 I would want to go when Hawaii is cooler...I went to Pearl a couple times on submarines, and it was always super hot! I don't like it that hot. 🙂 Someday I will go back, and take a cruise on Pride of America, but during cooler months. 🙂 I wish NCL would get another US Flag ship for cruising around Peurto Rico and the US VIrgin Islands. They had three at one point, they should have used one in Alaska, one in Hawaii, one in PR/VI. 🙂

I’m glad to hear what your experience was as a guest on board. I have recently been hired as a server and my experience has always been in fine dining, banquet style serving as well as silent service, and I will say that it gives me a little bit of anxiety to know that some guest expect you to interact and talk with them as I like to be more speedy and efficient and give that talk to your service rather than having conversations the entire time so now I know I have to turn it up a notch. I have a lot of personality but when I’m at work, I’m very serious and I like everyone to enjoy their food, and go out to eat with me I rather than make sure that everything is correct and top-tier. I guess everyone is different but it really concerns me that so many of the reviews always goes back to the service isn’t excellent because that’s unacceptable to me I hope I can be shining that makes a difference in the crew.

What time does the bars close at night?

I’ll be on the Bliss to Mexico in November! I was on last year too! It was my first NCL solo cabin cruise and it was amazing! I love the ship! It’s run so well, great food, fantastic employees, lots of music and fun stuff to do! Truly I can’t wait! Have a wonderful cruise!! 🚢

Are Kira and Jackson twins?

My son bought that same shirt..and we stayed on Ala Moana Blvd ..in two different hotels pre and post cruise ..both our hotels were nice very room and clean and cost a lot less than many hotels a block or two from Waikiki beach!

Do you know if the gas grills actually work?

My husband & I took this cruise in March 2023. Had a great time. If you’ve never been to Hawaii & are overwhelmed, like we were, about which of the islands you want to visit this is the way to go. The ship basically serves as your floating hotel. The cruise is so port intensive that we would back to the ship each afternoon, eat dinner, hang out on the aft deck on deck 11 for a bit and then back to our room to get ready for the next day. The only 2 meals on ship that we were not fbs of was the one night we went to the main dining room & Moderno. Lido was pretty good but the two best meals were at the teppanyaki place. Did the hibachi dinner one night & ate at the restaurant part one night. Is the cruise ship a little dated, yes, but the ship is not why we went to Hawaii. We were there to see the islands.

Hmmm did not know about the green lit machines ….we never used the arcade ..were too busy ! But I was there once and there was only one person in there while I was there…neat place !

On deck 13 coming down the stairs ( ladies ) hold onto your hats and dresses ..ad the trade winds can 5ème your breath away and leave you feeling a bit “ Marilyn Monroe “…if you get my drift 😮

MIderno was mouthwateringly fabulous . I was treated like a Queen , with a severe life threatening allergy .the complete staff , restaurant manager, chefs, our waiter ( we only talk about…B ) and all the others made me feel so safe and protected ! Thanks to you all…one of my two fav meals throughout our cruise as well as on land ! Well done!

And please folks ,if you are planning to cruise with this ship or any other….was h your hands and use the hand sanitizer offered by the staff who greta you kindly….i saw many people pass and refuse and so e even say things like I just showered…..thes staff are just doing their job, trying to keep everyone and the staff safe and healthy…Even if you just showered .you most likely touched your room door handle, then elevator buttons , possibly other peoples handshakes ,railings etc…so please be patient and just wash your hands!

Think inlaid $3.50 for a shave ice….not so bad compared to on land prices ….and was enjoyable by the pool.

Ohhh this video brings back great memories of my first ever cruise! Thanks for helping me relive it all…..Met so many wonderful cruisers and crew! And I loved the neat nets that covered the pools at night..what a fab idea…

There was always something to do…but compared with what I’ve heard about other cruise ships..yes not as much new tangled slides and shows etc..but more laid back relaxed…some shops , lots of musical entertainment , some shows, activities, pool time and games , classes , great photos from studio, lots to eat and new friends to make..well done NCL Pride of America ! From a first time cruiser and her dancing son !
