Astrophotography Dark Sky Checklist & Guide - To get your best images ever!
Thanks very informative. D-ERF filtering subject not discussed unfort.
Thanks! I’ve never used HDR Composition before and couldn’t find a practical demonstration until I stumbled on this. My M42 is looking much better.
10:55 then you would be getting screwed at that price, yes it's nice but at the end of the day those parts are really easy to manufacture and get dirt cheap when you order a batch of them.
A "premium astrograph" better be PERFECT, any flaws that can be easily noticed without lab equipment really shouldn't be there. This scope currently costs about 3700$ and the "budget" alternative is still over 2k and considering you need another 1k or more for a mount that can handle it, nothing about that alternative is budget in the normal sense of the word.
It seems to me that my FLT91 does as nicely overall. I don’t see the added benefit compared to the cost factor
Can you explain why M42 with the triband, although less natural, looks way more contrasted: processing? I guess not since the whole point is having same processing. So I am really curious to know. Subscribed to your channel a while ago. Great work and thanks for it
I wish eagle comes with arm with low power consumtion
Great review. For the SVX140 T on the Stellarvue website it indicates it uses super low dispersion center element. what does this mean ?(so your review is thus confusing). I am in the market to purchase one of these but what glass is actually used, why is it not mentioned ? The Raptor version uses super low dispersion Ohara S-FPL-53 or equivalent center element (what is equivalent)? They do mention the use of 4 different SLD glass so I guess it depends on size of scope and glass availability Guess I will have to give them a call.
At some point ill be looking into a guide system, trying to understand if i need traditional scoop guiding or OAG. i think in 1 of your vids you stated that after a certain Focal lengh, an OAG is best, In my case sw esprit 150mm. It has focal lenth 1050mm So im leaning towards an OAG. Do i got this right?
Thanks, sounds like what I need here in Wales, Bootle 4 but very rare we have clear skies, being able to image during half Moon would be great
Hi Ryan. Im just getting into visual and astrophortography, so far i have a sw esprit 150ed, Eq8-R mount And a Morpheus 17.7 eyepeace.... Thats it..nothing els.. There not even in yet.😅 ( april 2025) I dont even have a computer. (All in good time) Just an android phone. Ive been reaserching PrimaLuce 5 pro. I think this is what i wannt. Also as far as camara's ,ive been looking at ATIK camaras,, thinking atik apx26 So, with all the options its kida over wellming. -cmos -ccd - color -monchrome Then theres filter ,??????????????? (I live in bortle 4) Think my head is going to explode. I dont mind if some items are a bit pricey, just means couple extea mounths of payment ,,,, if im doing it right the first time. I should mention all this is left to my Niece in my will, shes big on astronomy, and she'll be attending Toronto U Techincal instatute of Aeospace studies... ( so proud) So...i dont mind the expence. Any advice........Joel
Wonderful video! Going to be using this going forward.
Those cutiuts on the underside of the tube rings look like they would be good for cable management
Thank you Ryan for this! I'm currently building a rig centred around an Edge HD 11". Your video has ensured that ZWO will NOT be getting a single purchase for that rig or any other rig moving forward. ZWO does not appear to be in it for the right reasons and obviously only reached out as your first video was getting some traction. hell with them. I don't need that headache, especially given their quality control issues too. I will be purchasing Player One Cameras for this Edge rig. After researching them, their cameras are superior engineered and even more feature rich as well as cheaper. People also rave about their customer service which pushes me over the edge to go with them. :)
This channel is not for me.
Excellent!!!
Thank you for this video, Based on this review of ZWO customer service I will be purchasing the Player One Poseidon C rather than the ZWO2600MC Pro.
i thought this was supposed to be about combining dual nb images but all i saw was work done to the Sii-Oiii image
A big thanks for this video. I was able to follow your steps and make my best image of M42 so far!
Looks like the reddish color from the quad comes from the IR pass between 750 and 900 nm given that most One shot color cameras are also very sensitive in the IR.
Never had any regrets having switched to ZWO ecosystem... it's just working for me. Clear skies. Mario 🙂
Excellent tutorial Sir! All these PI processing methods from yourself and others are really helpful for sharing different steps at each stage of the process. You've got a new subscriber!
I’m about to dive into Astro after lifelong 50+ years in photography. ZWO just left the top three list.
If you use a VERTECFOTO GH-V5 geared head instead of a ball head, it will be much more fast and accurate framing
very useful video
Thanks Ryan, I always enjoy your content. I always find it interesting.
Thanks for this, very informative. I've been using APP for over 3 years, my go to for stacking. I never knew how to use the analyzer. In the past I just minimized it to see the image. One of the most useful tools is APP's Light Pollution/Gradient Remover. It often works as well as the others available.
Good review Ryan I don't do seriousl astrophotography so won't comment on much. First the elephant noise really cracked me up I needed that! On a more serious note as pretty much a visual observer I've never ventured past doublets for fear of having to recollimate. I couldn't imagine collimating a 7 element optical system.
The point of the Quad filter is to pass IR and some UV, but your 2600MC has a UV/IR Cut filter. Without replacing the sensor window in the 2600MC Pro with AR glass, you are getting the same results as the RGB Ultra. Antlia does not recommend using the QB filter with the 2600MC Pro.
It also changes the position of the bandpasses as well. You will not get the same exact results as a triband so your comment is partially true and that it does not pass on the IR, but it will give you a different and in my opinion, better result, based on dozens of side-by-side testing from both myself and folks that have owned both filters.
I enjoyed the video and it's always a pleasure when I talk to Tanya. I especially like dealing with a company like Losmandy because they are just a phone call away if I have a question.
Great video thanks
too big for me
You didn't have to delete the hidden file "core-001-pxi.settings?"
You should disable "structure detection" in ColorCalibration on image with stars afaik.
I replaced my ZWO OAG (not the L), with an Askar OAG and it works very well. I also change from a 120MM to a 174MM. Great video.
This was the review I needed to see. Thank you!
Excellent video Ryan, thanks for all your efforts... Question please: I'm currently shooting in Bortle 8+ skies with 60mm and 80mm refractors (may try my C6 with reducer) into an ASI533MC PRO sensor using an Svbony SV220 filter with OK results on nebulae. Do you think the $200 Antlia Quad filter would be worth the upgrade? I'd also hope to see an improvement on Galaxies (with the Quad filter) without the two hour trip to our club's dark site. Thanks for your thoughts, Michael
Does this mount have auto homing sensors? Would it be a good choice for remote observatories?
Thanks for posting this. I tried this alignment method this evening and it works well.
Great info! Thanks.
Any time i try to stretch channels separately...when i combine them i always get weird hues of color. Like overpowering HA or S2 (when doing SHO pallette) i struggle with GHS as well.
Thank you for not making this a 35 minute video.
Fantastic production and content. Thanks!
Very helpful review. Under what Bortle class sky was the testing done? I am under B8 skies, wondering if it would perform as well as your results! Thanks.
2024,, skywatcher GTI $540,, with tripod $620,,, askar 71f $599,,, zwo 585mc $360... $1580 plus tax.. thats what im looking at right now just waiting for possible black friday deals before purchase,,, have a dslr,, could save the $360 from the zwo..but thinking for the price its at now, a dedicated astro camera would be better
That mount is one of the most returned mounts at Highpoint Scientific…avoid it.
Excellent video. Do you have the exact imaging/optical train setup (including connectors/spacers, etc.) posted somewhere? I, for one, would be *very* curious, as I am now setting up my optical train and am "comparing and contrasting" different setups/cameras. Thanks HUGE!
Looks like a great scope! I know mine doesn’t have the pedigree like what you guys are used to, but my Askar 120mm has been a work horse.
❤ my SVX130T- R! Great review!
Hate to be that guy but I was the 999th like
