Sort of depends on which size Bellows Stick you’re using - the 4.8” and larger sizes are great for the Shakeyhead, as well as as a wobble head, if you haven’t tried that yet, you should!! Sort of brand agnostic on this one - but definitely recommend looking for an option that has a wide gap hook, for better hooksets through the deep ribs!! Also, we will launch an elastomer version of the Bellows Stick later this summer - they’ll be awesome options for the shakeyhead, as they float!!

Honestly, you’ll probably just have to sort of experiment with it and see which the fish react to best on a given day. Compared to the Carolina Rig, the Free Rig would likely excel when the fish aren’t holding super tight to the bottom - the high lift and subsequent fall could be a better presentation. Personally like the Free Rig vs the Dropshot when conditions allow you to get away with more of a power fishing setup vs a lighter finesse approach. Will regularly use 17+ lbs line and 1/2oz weight to fish the Free Rig. It also typically comes through cover quite well.

​@inteljumperxx it's great in a pressured lake scenario. It is just a different bait and presentation than those heavily pressured fish are used to seeing. It is great on the Tn river chain.

Can use any size you’d like - really sort of depends on the depth you’re fishing / the fall rate you want the weight to have. For this video, I used a 1/2oz - it’s a good starting point.

Since it hasn’t been answered already, I only use a trailer hook when they’re slapping or missing it or just for added insurance so I hook em good. Most times though with a Spinnerbug and it’s the right one and you’re fishing it correctly you won’t need the trailer hook. They straight chomp it!

@@michaelshoffner6584 rt on. I don’t disagree, I almost always have one in tournaments. Depends on how they’re eating it. If im getn them in roof of mouth to where hook point almost coming out between there eyes, no trailer hook needed. Bout as pinned as they can get.

I have recently stumbled across the Bellows Gill. I agree strongly with your opinion. I am not in the Ozarks so I shouldn’t impact your bite with them(😂😂), do you mind sharing your favorite way to rig them? I am mainly Texas rigging weightless or with a small weight. Probably going to end up trying them with a Carolina rig and honestly, I am envisioning a bladeless umbrella rig with screw lock hooks Texas rigged. Tight lines.

I've been using them as a trailer on my kitech mono spin jigs. They work great!!! They work rather nicely on Brian Schmidt 's Ned Dreds too. Free rig is another killer technique. The possibilities are endless
