The Oscar Goes To
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 17 เม.ย. 2020
Love the Oscars? Me too! Which is why I love to criticize all that they do. This channel is dedicated to reviewing all the Best Picture winners and what the heck the Academy was thinking picking who they did. In between I'll have top 10's, (who doesn't love lists!?) predictions, and a bunch of other stuff film--mostly Oscar--related.
Don't love the Oscars? That's okay. Subscribe and see me judge their films!

Could Demi Moore Win The Oscar?
This video is either going to age very nicely or terribly based on how cool the Oscars want to be this upcoming year.

Oscar Winners & Nominees Who Passed Away in 2023

Please note that even though this list is dedicated to the Oscar winners & nominees who passed away last year, that there are plenty of talented individuals who deserve mention. As a side note, please know that I did not include anyone who won an honorary Oscar. Though, again, this does not mean they don't deserve recognition.

Poor Things Review

My ninth of ten reviews for the Oscars! Below you'll find the synopsis of Poor Things, as well as all the awards it's nominated for. Synopsis: Brought back to life by an unorthodox scientist, a young woman runs off with a lawyer on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, she grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation. Best Pic...
Even if she doesn’t get nominated, she’ll still be iconic with her yellow coat and the mirror scene. She’ll be more memorable than whoever wins.
I remember Amadeus won Makeup and Actor, also, Ed Wood, Driving Miss Daisy, La Vie en rose, Iron Lady, Dallas Buyers Club. Also movies winning Makeup, but they received an acting nomination like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Frida, Les Misérables
As of now, I want her to get nominated and win the Oscar.
I personally think she can because for the last few years the movie that won makeup had a performance that won. She’s also been acting for decades unlike Madison.
Nice top 10.
Not seen Anora or The Brutalist yet however, my money is on Dune for best picture of the year- politics aside.
Timothee Chalamet is going to be win
I am still there also for best actress - Fernanda Torres, best director- Walter Sales, and best original screenplay.
-Interesting no Inside Out! I doubt it! -Demi Moore, everyone is excpecting this to happen!
Saoirse Ronan and Demi over Nicole Kidman?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nicole Kidman over Saoirse Ronan and Demi? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
wicked is getting a best picture nom be ready...
For my director lineup, I’d kick out Audiard and replace him for Villeneuve
I would do the same!
Good predictions. Thanks for being one of the few to do all the categories.
Good choices. You are one of the few who do all the categories in your predictions and I appreciate that.
Don’t miss How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies-a must-see film that will leave you inspired!
Clarence Maclin is playing himself in that movie, so why is it considered a great acting performance?
That's a great question! I suppose people's responses will differ on the answer, but for me, it's two things. First, while yes. He is playing himself. I think this discredits the performance. I don't actually think anyone can play themselves fully because that wouldn't make for good presentation. I would say that his performance is an exaggerated version of himself. Something that will play well within the context of the story. Otherwise, the scenes where he is not "acting," would just come off as boring or uninteresting. Second, is that he still manages to captivate you with his journey. You're cautious of him at first, but as the story progresses, you do get to feel a connection, which is something that needs to be portrayed in the acting itself. As such, you remember him once the film is over. To some, I'm sure he'll be the person that stands out the most. And that can't come from just being yourself in a movie. It needs to be played up more. That's my take on it anyway.
@@theoscargoesto6733 I appreciate the thoughtful response.
Thanks for highlighting “I Saw the TV Glow”. It is definitely one of the most original this year.
I really love the score category. I feel like the lord of the rings really fits in the category
what about i'm still here...
I added it to the International section once I saw Parthenope was not submitted. I've been hearing some good things about the lead actress, so I feel it has a good chance of getting in. Not sure if it will get in anywhere else though.
Good list. Really like the surprise choices. 😊
And as if to keep the theme of the video going! While this was uploading, it was announced that Life of Chuck will get pushed back to next year, so…
zoe and sel for supporting lol
I predict I Saw the TV Glow for original screenplay
That would be amazing! I think as of now, this might be my favorite movie of the year.
June S. is on my radar. Thanks for the Thelma shout out
Wicked gonna get best picture ( react from audience they all say it all )
So sad Edward Berger made Isabella appear only for 6 minutes
well, i watched emilia perez and wouldn’t be surprised if selena ends up getting a nomination. she delivers the best performance of her career so far; it would be a fair nom. she’s great, and i really think it is oscar-worthy. she delivers a very emotional, dramatic performance that many voters will like.
Dude I KNOW you didn't watch Howl's Moving Castle or Tales of Princess Kaguya if you think the former is boring and the latter is worse than BH6
Hugh jackman for deadpool and wolverine
This is JLo's year and I'm gonna believe in it
Jamie Lee Curtis again for the Oscar interesting no Angelina Jolie I mea no release date yet for the film
Great video! Super interesting, and I think I agree with your opinions. Minor suggestion, if you could include clips from the actors' performances I think that would really enhance the quality of your video / make it more fun to watch for the viewer. Keep it up!:)

Oh my i am the first Comment, can't really rate the game of the years, couse there are some years where there are to many to pick just one for a list, but my favourite games in general would be: 1. The Witcher 3 2. Skyrim 3. The Last of Us 4. Red Dead Redemption 2 5. God Of War 6. AC Black Flag 7. AC Brotherhood 8. GTA 5 9. Ori and the blind forest 10. Rise of the Tomb raider Have not played any of the FromSoft games like the souls sereis, and i have not played Ghost of Tsushime yet, but i imagine some of those would be on my list
Tahar rahim monsieur aznavour
Job well done. Look forward to some more of your work.
Saoirse Ronan - The Outrun Ana-Taylor Joy - Furiosa Marisa Bela - Back to Black Kate Wislet - Lee Amy Adams - Nightbitch Regina King - Shirley Sebastian Stan - A Diferent Man Timothée Chalamet - Dune 2 Daniel Graig - Queer Samuel L Jackson - The Piano Lesson Zendaya - Dune 2 Demi Moore - Substance For now… Austin Butler - Dune 2
Austin Butler plays a supporting role in Dune. And in fact it's not big or substantial enough to have a chance for the Supporting Actor category.
Lady Gaga? Please!
as if she doesn't already have one acting oscar nomination for A Star Is Born??? don't be such a bigot - you've NOT seen Joker: Folie a Deux yet.
Did he just play the fake joker trailer?
lmfao!! Holy smokes, did I laugh when I realized this. Hands down, a total blunder on my part. On the flip side, I'm glad I actually AM going crazy, so now I can just focus on Gaga getting in.
Honestly several things good and several things awful with this video it was not easy to follow actually what was going on but the thing that pissed me off the most is he gave Norman Lear like a second and a half the most influential person of the 1970s in media History . Are you even aware of the influence this gentleman has had on basically everything Norman Lear is the most influential person of the entire repertoire of everything you would change. And you gave him a second and a half shame on you shame shame shame on you
I see the awful, but where's the good!? lol Timing could use some work, it's true. I did one last year where it may have gone on a bit too long, and as a result, no one watched it, so I just have to find the comfy in-between. As for the time frame; I gave everyone the exact same time frame, with the exception of the performances since it's easier to pull footage from those then some of these other ones. That being said; I'd say make one yourself dude. You seem to be patinate about it, so do the list some justice! Part of the reason for the video is that I don't see anyone else making something like this. And going back to what I said about no one seeing the one from last year; I rather more people see a short video, become curious, and do some research rather than giving it the proper time and no one watch it to the point of, might as well have not made the video. Still, I'll work on it. lol
Sounds a bit overwrought. I think they were all given same amount of time, save the performers.
Didn't Bill Butler shoot "Jaws" as well?
Yep! But he wasn't nominated for it. 😞
Really good rankings
Thanks for this.
I feel like everyone's top two for last decade are always a toss up between Daniel Day-Lewis for Lincoln or Casey Affleck for Manchester by The Sea
Joshua Oppenheimer should had won for act of killing and its "sequel". Im not really documentary guy but wow, they were very great but not for everyone, they can be very disturbing for some people but otherwise yep really great documentaries
Is hard to make out what movie will win because so far we have dune part two but otherwise i would rip off someone for Ralph Fiennes to win oscar
Sing Sing at 20 is fucking wild
These are in alphabetical order. They don't have any sort of ranking.
Oh, on the over the top bits: these were taken from witnesses statements of those who worked for the Höss familiy (if I got the behind the scenes right). In the same vein, they had to tone down Amon Göth in Schindler's List because the real stuff would have been unbelievable.
Great Review. Thank you. Especially the part about the craft. Had not thought about the "you can find darkness even in the most beautiful places". But, boy does the fim deliver that.
Holy moly your energy is so infectious! I'm upset I'm just discovering you now, it would've been really fun to see your journey to Oscar night. Next year I guess! I went 16/23, kinda wish I was doing shots too haha.
