The Grab Bag
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 31 มี.ค. 2022
This father and son team review root beers, cream sodas, sarsaparilla, and couple other flavors. We have a good time together and hope you'll join us. We started with all sorts of ideas for videos, some serious and some parody, hence the name "The Grab Bag".
Sprecher Cream Soda & Origin Story - The Grab Bag
Episode 72 Sprecher Cream Soda - Sprecher Cream Soda is a big part of our origin story. This is one of the few flavors to receive a "Favorite" rating from both of us.

A float is the only way for barqs. I need another red Robin trip now
I'll admit I was pleased.
Cream soda is different colors across the states, in the midwest it's mainly clear or a gold color, I believe red is from the upper east coast cause I had it for the first time in Rhode Island, and the blue cream soda I believe is from the southern east coast.
That's interesting. We usually see the clear or gold color. I did see a Fitzs Cardinal Cream in St. Louis. I didn't know it was a regional thing. Thank you for sharing, and for watching. Hopefully you're already a subscriber.
Good to know. Maybe we'll bring this up in a future episode.
Most of the colored flavors in soda are just chemicals built in a lab to imitate natural flavors and it fails because I can tell it's artificial.
You have better taste buds than us then. If it has sugar, we like it. (Except for Coco Fizz).
Hah only one liked😂😂😂
You have to get like #1 before you can get like #100
Well you asked for a comment, here ya go. If you're reviewing food or beverages talking about the flavor is pretty important, if not the main thing. You mentioned it wasn't very carbonated and had a burning ginger flavor, not much else. Try being more descriptive so people who aren't tasting it know what it actually tastes like.............. That's a good place to start. Stay in school.
What's that old saying? Be careful what you ask for? :) Seriously though, we appreciate the comment. We may have to relook at our format. Stay frostie our friend.
@@TheGrabBag_RootBeer Well since you asked....... I've been a root beer connoisseur for several decades. I definitely appreciate your depth of knowledge & adventure for the beer of roots. There are a lot of varieties and styles of root beer out there. I remember when sarsaparilla contained sassafras & root beer did as well, it tastes different than the new artificial variety and tends to overwhelm the subtle notes of licorice root. I think your format is great just bring up the volume on your voices so it isn't drowned out by the music. We want to hear you. Only a heathen would drink their root beer that wasn't chilled at a constant 7 degrees Celsius for a minimum of 72 hours. I'd also recommend drinking your root beer out of chilled crystal flute champagne glasses, any other way destroys the delicate melody of flavors that slowly blooms as the glass warms. Being more descriptive on the flavor, foam, mouth feel and carbonation is important to most of us. It's all in there please let us know. Maybe check out a few videos on wine tasting and dial it back a bit more than "those" people..... I was sure to share and like this video. Keep at it & may the foam remain until your glass is empty.
@@eugenegreenin1903 Thank you for your kind and encouraging words. You certainly sound like you know your stuff, so thanks for like-ing our video.
This video was super entertaining 😂. Zach’s expression when he smells it within the first minute foretells how the taste test will go. Weston, I’m impressed you nearly finished the can!
Glad you liked it. This is one where it is funnier to watch than to try.
I love ginger beer. Have you tried Bundaberg?
To be honest, I don't really like ginger beer, but this was a Ginger Root Beer and the small sample was good. This ended up having a bit of a burn.
Good analysis though
Thanks for the positive feedback. Do you have a favorite?
Music too loud
This was one of our earlier videos and we were still trying to figure things out. I see you've watched a couple of our videos, so thank you.
Good analysis
Thanks. Check out the full episode for more fun!
Straight yapping
That what the people want.
what's been your favorite ?
Good to hear from you. Not sure what Zach would say, but I liked Fritz's and FrostTop. You should check out our ratings website versie4414.preview.softr.app/ What has been your favorite video, or segment, so far?
I don't guys, an apple beer sounds good, so I anticipate an apple cream soda would be good too! You guys are so smart at your state abbreviations
Thanks for the comment (and for watching). I suppose if you were expecting something with more fruity you might like this. Thank you for your comment about the abbreviations. I think we only got one wrong.
It's probably better to drink apple cider vinegar then eat yogurt to help get rid of the vinegar taste.
I'm not sure there is anything that would get rid of that aftertaste. Yuck!
@@TheGrabBag_RootBeer OH NOOO😂😂
Eat yogurt with apple cider vinegar. Got it
Weird, right?
Good job 👍 fun episode
Thanks for watching. Glad you liked it.
Faaaabulous my friends
Good to hear from you. Glad you are still around and watching!
Whatever
I think the song is hilarious so I wanted to do something with it.
I love it! You certainly have a knack for tongue twisters.
How many barrels can the boring barrel brothers brew before breakfast because their bored? 😂
If your dirt bike videos don't work out, I think you have a future doing tongue twisters.
How many barrels can the boring barrel brothers brew for breakfast because their bored? 😂
Nice one!
“Apple beer” you mean cider 😭
No, I think it really said "Apple Beer"
And now we still dont know
You'll need to watch the full episode. :)
😂😂 I hate spelling!
You can tell we have a hard time too.
😅 im sorry vut is the implocstion that its pee
No, No, No. The place we bought it was called the Yellow Deli. The full-length video explains it better.
Wait… is this a channel about root beer?!? I love root beer.
Glad you found us! We talk about other stuff too, but we usually review a root beer.
love it!'
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
You guys need your own root beer company! I’d try it! 😊
@@ParkerRichards360 Drinking is a lot less work😃
I think it is a lot of work.
Wow! That’s nuts! Just for a different bottle! 🤔🤔

We learned so much from our tour. I hope you follow the link to the full video.

Utica! I’ve been there! Idk if I spelled that right but it was sooo cold! Save me one of those root beers! 😉 Homonym has the same spelling but different meanings. Homophone has different spelling but sound the same! Cheers!
@@ParkerRichards360 Learning goes both ways. Thanks for letting us know.
We visited New York in the summer and it was hot!
Joe Biden?

It was our pleasure. Sorry, things didn't work out. We would have loved to meet you guys.
big up orca !!
Exactly.
the son is sure a stud!
Not sure what to say. Thank you?
amazing video i love it
I'm glad you like it
The unique flavor that you guys are tasting is probably honey. Bulldog root beer is brewed with honey. That gives a slight earthy and deep caramel flavor with hints of vanilla. It also makes it a lot smoother and syrupy than other more carbonated root beers
You sound like someone who knows root beer! Thanks for the comment and watching.
@@TheGrabBag_RootBeer Looks like you might have a potential guest for some future episode!
@@salbahejim 😃
Happy 50th episode!
Thank you. Encouragement from viewers like you keep us going. (The root beer is nice too.)
I like to hold the bottle when I'm using my opener. It hasn't happened yet, but I always worry that the bottle might go flying off to the side.
See, we do use your opener almost every time.
The look on your face in the title frame made me laugh!
Just trying to keep you entertained.
That belt is a hoot. I wouldn't want to walk around generally with it, but it looks like a good way to carry around a bunch of bottles when your hands are full, like at a picnic when You're serving others.
Yeah, another example of something that sounds like a great idea in theory, but fails in practice.
Root Beer 😖 ... Ughh(!!) 😖 ... Tied with Dr. Pepper for Worst Soda trophy.
@@danielmoose1273 No way! Well, I really do like cream soda better.
@@TheGrabBag_RootBeer I absolutely Love cream soda 🙂. They're usually a bit price-prohibitive (is that even a real word? 🙂), but I splurge on a 6-pack of 'em once in a while. I still try a bottle of root beer once every 5 years or so, but I haven't been able to connect with 'em yet. Thanks for the video, and I'll check out some of your others to see what else y'all are into. Cheers 🥃🥃 🙂.
@@danielmoose1273 That's interesting. Here in the States, root beer and cream sodas are similarly priced. If you get a chance to try a butterscotch soda or "butter beer", definitely give it a shot. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I hope you'll stick around. Let us know what you like, and don't like.
Paused the video to guess, but I want to say Washington. I doubt the coincidence of it being manufactured in Seattle would be bearable. Time to unpause and find out!
Thanks for leaving the comment. I would give you credit for your Washington, Seattle guess. Well done!
@@TheGrabBag_RootBeer You implied it would be a shocker so it was the first place I guessed. Never would have thought Mukilteo though
There's a channel where the guy reads stories from Reddit and at the end he used to include puppy bloopers. It was a little collection of moments he had to cut because his puppy would squeak or bark while he was recording. It was cute, but he didn't do it anymore.
The bad thing about a bloopers reel is you had to have mistakes to make it.
@@TableauWeston There's not a human on earth that doesn't make mistakes. Making a compilation of the silliest is a good thing.
We live in Washington, I was prepared for it but it never came, where did you watch it from?
