Back in the '80's these were very inexpensive and very unreliable...mostly due to finicky magazine requirements. I like Ruger though, and I sure hope they've made this latest generation more reliable. How about a follow up video after a few thousand rounds to tell us how well the carbine works?
I had a new one that I paid way too much for recently and it's unreliable like the other three I've owned in the past. I want to like the mini 14 but when a 500 dollar AR is more reliable then..

No different than the typical Mini 14. The full wood stock is more stable

Just got this exact model the other day. Well kinda, im still waiting on the damn background check to clear. First time ever buying a gun and my background check didnt go straight through. I was so bummed!! They must have changed the way it works or something becauze ive never not had an instant approval until now
Im confused, how is it both your first gun and “never not had an instant approval?” That doesn’t make sense.
@AncientRe well clearly you don't know how to read because I said it's Mt first time buying a gun and the background check didn't clear instantly. Meaning every pther time I bought a gun it cleared instantly.
It always happens like that man it's not just you I have a concealed weapons permit an armed security guard permit and it still took me 5 hours to get the thing funny part about it wasn't even a whole gun it was too lowers for ARS

@realScupperMan not the first gun purchase. Just the first time when purchasing a fire arm that I had to wait. Every other time I have gotten instant approval.

Nice... I have the 2.5" and 3" with unfluted 686+. I also have the 2.75" Model 69 44mag which is on the same frame. I like the 686 Performance Center but I don't like the *beadblast* finish or the unfluted cylinder for carry. I may still still buy one to replace my 2.5" and simply install a new cylinder.

would love to get one of these, but disappointed that all these great bolt guns don’t have iron sites as backups. That’s part of the scout rifle philosophy is to have iron sites on there as a back up.
You are better off not dropping the slide on an empty chamber. It may or may not cause damage. Why take the chance?
