This is... sort of true. I agree that he's great with Evelyn, and he's written very well with Peri in a lot of audios (mostly the ones written by Nev Fountain, who's Nicola Bryant's husband)... buuut I can't say that he kept that throughout. Big Finish managed to sand off literally all the edges of his character and turn him into the most uninteresting, safe, utterly generic Doctor imaginable. The decline started with Flip, continued into stories with Mel, and really accelerated with Constance. You listen to these Constancs stories, or stories with both Flip and Constance, and it's virtually impossible to tell that it's the Sixth Doctor. You could give these lines to Peter Davison and it would make complete sense. He is ungodly boring and it honestly ruins so many of these late-run Main Range stories.

Better still just make a full-sized front and stick it over the entry door.

Looks great. Now you need to build a full sized one. You know you want to. You need to source some really light weight wood (possibly ceader) . and have it dowl join so it can be put into flat pack type storage.

people think the box is a purply blue but the colour is mostly closer to a cleaner Capaldi box shade of blue they're very similar blues

the glass that was used for the tv movie box was hammered glass , its like the pebbled glass effect but bigger basically :D giving it its difference , will you be making the modern boxes of jamie's? if so i can help there when its comes to reference , i supplied Jamie with the dimensions for the modern boxes so he could make the kits

Edge of Destruction is a really interesting choice. It's basically a bottle episode, but it's really important too for the reasons that you say. It's why I've always found the Doctor suddenly turning on Ian at the end of The Sensorites so odd. Invasion of the Dinosaurs - bold! But yeah, after seeing it again on DVD (first time I ever saw the first episode, too, since we never got it here in Australia) I found it much more interesting than I remembered, despite the wobbly FX. I always liked The War Machines. With hindsight you can see it looking forward to the Pertwee era. Though how it disposed of Dodo did kind of suck. Another vote for Curse of Fenric. I like Full Circle, though wouldn't have picked it in a top ten. You're right about those early 80s scores, though. Revelation of the Daleks is one I've had an odd relation with over the years. Colin Baker's first season was my own first encounter with the show back in 1985 (and with hindsight I'm kind of amazed my parents let me watch it past Attack of the Cybermen) when I had no idea what the show was "normally" like, so I had no idea just how kind of atypical season 22 was. Always thought Revelation was great, I enjoyed watching it again the other day, but I have more problems now with Eric Saward's propensity for pointless deaths than I did then. Five Doctors, of course. The program's first real bit of fan service, it works a lot better than it probably should do. I like the special edition recut better, though. Terror of the Zygons is very good, though again i don't know if I'd pick it for a top ten. It feels to me like a hangover from season 12 (which it was) rather than a new series opener. Earthshock - yeah, very solid pick. I never actually saw it until the DVD came out. That first episode cliffhanger must've been amazing at the time. Ark in Space - have never actually liked that much. It's good, it's well-made, perfectly well-written, and somehow it's just never 100% clicked for me. Top list on the whole, interesting changes from your previous video which I've also just watched.

Nice overview. Used to watch Dr Who ages ago. looks like a fun show now. The Early Yeti shows were super creepy. The Unit gunshots sounded super fake. Did some home movies with a fake cardboard Police box as a kid. The parents had no idea what we were trying to do but let us have some house paint for it anyway. Always wanted that huge smoking robot prop from the first Toymaker appearance.Rreally good high-quality prop from Shawcraft props and models.

Looks really top notch Louie! Yes, you were right about that weakness in the original pin hinge. What you normally do in that situation is use a metal rod. You cut off the weak material, drill a hole and put superglue down the hole, then re -drill the hole, then push in a metal or brass rod. Super strong. Get an eyeloop and think about those tiny clearances as if you were an ant. That's the level of precision you need when working with moving parts. 1/10th of a mm is you level of accuracy.

That was a fun watch, especially listening to how much care you put with matching your research with your TARDIS. I think I might want to go on making my own...

You keep saying how bad, disastrous & low-quality everything was when it came to introducing the sixth Doctor. The case you're trying to make is that these bad decisions lead to the sixth Doctor being unpopular with audiences, but this claim is easily debunked just by checking the viewing figures. The show maintains the same numbers for season 22 that it had for season 21. General audiences did not dislike the Sixth Doctor. Whovians are just obsessed with revising history, like some sort of Doctor Who villain, on par with Michael Grade.

I feel Terry Nations script was butchered. Terry knows that the Daleks are mutants as he not only wrote a good chunk of the Dalek stories, but created them. One story he wrote was genesis of the daleks, where you see how the Daleks were made. And to think the two characters who know the daleks are not robots are the doctor and davros, and yet they’re the two characters that say they are robots. 😖

A shame this series of Old Who was abandoned and got replaced by Trial of a Time Lord.

Thanks for this video, it was pretty insightful. Those new effects look great. I agree, these sets are very lovingly made. I'm desperate for this sort of love for the modern era because the special features are almost none existent, especially regarding stuff like deleted scenes for 9 and 13. I've got my season 22 blu ray on the way. Looking forward to diving back into these stories, especially Mark of the Rani and The Two Doctors. 😄
