In this video I'm going to show you how to use daubers and blending brushes with die cuts and torn paper to make clouds, water and sand in a scene.
I am using Balmy Blue, Boho Blue, Sahara Sand and Daffodil Delight Stampin' Up inks. I'm using Stampin' Up daubers and blending brushes.
To make the sky: use a dauber and a light blue with a cloud die cut or a scallop circle or oval. Blend ink onto small areas of your paper. When your lightest layer is on, add a slightly darker layer to highlight. Turn the cloud or scallop as you work so the clouds aren't uniform. Once two colors are on use your blending brush and your lightest color to blend the light and dark colors so they look more natural.
To make the water: Tear a piece of card stock that is a bit longer than what you will be working on. Make sure it isn't straight across. Tear the paper so that it has a slight hill and slight valley.
Use your blending brush and your lightest color to ink against the torn paper you've placed on your work surface. Continue to move the torn paper so that the waves are different. You can even turn over the torn paper and continue to ink and make your water. You can add your darker color as well then blend them together with the lightest color.
To make the sand: Cover the water area you've just finished with paper and use a brown ink to make the sand. A blending brush works well for this. Once you have some color add stamped dots if you like for sand texture. Then use your blending brush to blend it together.
