Ive been a Certified Tech for over 3 years. It's all mental!

Why couldn't I have known about this type of career back in my younger years 😢. I am 46 , recently laid off of an office job I happen to love with no real prospects in sight. I was a SAHM raising my children and I just don't have any real skills 😔. Growing up, I didn't have any real direction in life. I knew I didn't want to go to college but I wasn't aware of these types of jobs in the healthcare industry. Glad you quit working at a toxic environment. Good luck to you ❤.

Hi Brit,!! Thank you for sharing this with us, I am interested in this career, but i wonder if this will be easy for someone who’s migrant and English is its third language, also can a certificate with med cert be enough to land on an entry level job as a SPT ?

My wife has told me, and even though I'm retired now, COUNTLESS women that I used to work with have told me, that working with WOMEN is horrible. THIS coming from WOMEN. I worked with so many ladies in the manufacturing plant that I worked at for twenty five years who told me how they HATED working on lines with mostly women working on them. MORE than a lot of times I had women working with us, lots of them temporary workers, who would come up to me two hours into the shift and say that it's such a pleasure to work on (whatever line we happened to be on that day or night) that was mostly staffed with men because there is NO DRAMA or cattiness. In fact, as working the lines is pretty boring and mundane, we'd end up laughing and joking about LIFE and we'd talk about all kinds of stuff and the day flew by. Compare that to walking by a line staffed with mostly women and there was either arguing loudly or total silence because they were all mad at each other. LOL. As mentioned, even my wife has told me that. They, as in the women, always said men don't have the drama or childish personalities or hold silly grudges about something that was said ten minutes earlier.

I was only a Sterile Processing Associate at my job for a month at a hospital and left because of the hostile drama and feeling like my supervisor was more into gossiping than training me. I did like the job, just not the feeling of the mean girl culture! I went right back to my old position.

I’m one of the sisters y’all! And taking care of your parents is not for the weak! You have to be strong spiritually mentally and emotionally. There is times when I leave from my parents house and just boohoo cry all the way home because I’m watching them slowly decline. Like she said the stress of not being able to give them the world eats me up everyday. I wanna to quit my job every single day and be their primary care taker! I would give them my leg if they needed it! The best parents I could ever ask for always present in our lives!

This sounds like a good career. I cant stand working with people anymore. Are you on your own and do co workers let you be at this job?

I just started as a Lead. I absolutely do not like seeing and dealing with the personalities! The lil extra dollar is not worth the peace of being a quiet solo worker.

Good evening! It's crazy that you did not get benefits, and you were a lead. I want to do sterile processing, but when you said something about the smell of blood and seeing flesh (I believe you said that), I was like, "I don't know." How would I know if I like it or not unless I try? I also want to do food service. I am tired of doing housekeeping; I want to move on to something else. Congratulations on your new job.

How do you get certified withiut going to school. You study for the exam. Pass the exam and then what? How come youre not certified after you pass exam?

When you took the CRCST state certification exam what book/workbook did you use to study from so I will know I will take the exam this year.

I am watching this video on June 21,2024 , your way of explaining things made me more confident in choosing this career. I thought it was a bad idea , but watching your videos and everting you explain made me realize that this is the career I want to pursue in the future <3.
