I've had a number of occupations--from writer to substance abuse counselor to postal carrier to a gig on a short-lived show for OWN TV. I’ve been lucky enough to see most of the US, although I still have about seven states to go. My main topics are child abuse (I'm a big Alice Miller fan!), personal recovery, cultural phenomena and belief systems. I'm a fan of logic, underdogs, and recipes for fancy deserts I'll never make.

Paul Ferguson, through SADO attorneys, is appealing his sentence on the grounds that Judge Kacel acted improperly in reading the entirety of text messages and considering the contents as part of his sentence. Thanks for the update! It is my understanding that he cannot appeal his conviction because he took a plea. However he does have the right to appeal his sentence.

I really hope Paul is shown the same courtesy and grace he showed Timothy, in prison.
She put him in a position to deprive Timothy of sleep therefore he couldn't sleep. She was abusing them both. Of course he would blame it on Timothy because he lived under her roof. He's culpable but also a victim of her evil.

@@Booooberrie they both abused him. Unfortunately the text messages show mostly what Shanda was encouraging Paul to do, not what she did when she was in the home with Timothy.
@@70sChildJDthey were both guilty but he was with him more often and had every chance to help him sneak him food, get him to a safe place call someone and he didn't, so he had every chance and just abused him, where Shanda was just fked in the head and thought she was teaching him lessons or punishing him for behavior she thought was bad. They both belong in jail for life.

I really hope G's teeth have been worked on as well as getting his medical appointments all current. I also hope the grandparents are able to identify a caregiver for when they pass. I really really hope they have a support system and G gets to do regular childhood things

I know the perfect cure for that, Paul will be cured in no time: --An 8 hour long *ice bath*, in the afternoon --1 toast with the spiciest *hot sauce* + a *frozen pizza roll*, in the morning, evening and night --Instead of sleeping in a bed, roll yourself up in a *tarp*, *soaked* in your own *urine*, lie on the floor without a mattress, add sensor movement devices all over your body, so, when you move, someone monitoring you will scold you and pour hot sauce directly down your throat. Stop sleeping, eating, no contact with anybody and you'll never ever get sick again Paul.

@@marleenjansen4692 All of that! But also blisters come and go for something like herpes, so unless T was in an active phase the coroner wouldn’t have known without a test.
@@70sChildJD I do think there was some human tissue taken.from Timothy. saw something in the papers on you tube, an evidence list. But remember He is in jail.. faking a soa will save him?? hoping the inmates hears and whisper about it??

She is probably gone by now, but Paul said early on that he was going to sign up for the prison pen pal program. I'm sure it's because his bunky told him it might increase his commissary $. There's a whole sub-population of Jenny's out there, who get their kicks out of "dating" the lowest prisoners.

No one has mentioned it that I have heard, but it appears that she really, and truly believed that Timothy was pretending to be starving up until the very last moment. This seems crazy and it was.. it was never mentioned, but the inability to distinguish between doing right and wrong is the definite legal definition of defense of insanity. She would not have wanted that to be the defense, and the prosecutor would not want to raise that issue.
Do you really think so? I disagree, namely because Timothy didn't fake emaciation, and toward the end of his life the toll of starvation was very apparent and she saw that every day. My take on it (and I could be wrong) is that she wanted him to suffer and thought the calories from bread would keep him alive, even as a shell of a person, and then she would have the power to "bring him back to life" by feeding him. I genuinely believe it was all about control for her.

@@chaz4471 Not documented by anything other than suspicions as far as the SA, but the bullying was known and they were supposed to be kept separate at home as well as at school. Paul had a jail call with Trish in which he mentioned genital blisters that he had for “a few years.” Sounded like possible herpes. But Paul said he was a virgin.
I aim not excusing Paul at all, but I find it puzzling that I see no mention anywhere of the fact that he had a night job and was "supervising" (if you can call it that) Timothy during the day when his mother was at work. When did Paul get to sleep? His brain wouldn't have been functioning very well with such longterm sleep deprivation.
@@judepower4425 Shanda placed little value on sleep for anyone except herself. She woke Paul up at 6am every working day to walk her dog. I do believe Paul and Timothy were sleep deprived. That said, Paul had so many opportunities to report and get out of the situation and he chose not to, likely because he was an eager participant in Timothy’s abuse and also, as the judge said, he felt he had nowhere else to go. Sleep deprivation is serious but I don’t believe it caused the abuse. A sleep deprived person at their wit’s end could have just as easily called 911 or DSS or even a relative.
Paul would rat Timothy out about eating the crust of a hamburger bun. First thing he did was call his “momma” and gleefully tell her what Timothy did. May his a** rot in jail too!
