    To people wondering when this interview took place it seems to be multiple encounters put together. The interviewer says early on that he first encountered DOOM in 1997, and the segment includes parts from back then. 1997 was before DOOM had the metal mask, and instead just wore a white stocking on his face to appear incognito while performing in New York. This is why DOOM’s voice is different in parts of the segment, some parts are from ‘97, some are from some time after 2004, as Madvillainy and mm..food tracks are included, there might also be a third part judging purely off DOOM’s voice, but I’m not sure. This whole segment is from a swedish radio station, I speak norwegian and don’t understand absolutely everything, but it’s worth noting that the interviewer comes across as mildly insane, even more in the swedish parts.

    It's a rare thing to hear, but any musician must believe in synchronicities. Yesterday was listening to El-P saying EXACTLY the same. There's no coïncidence, like litterally. There are levels tho. These 2 are capable of PRODUCING synchronicities. El did that numerous time... and Doom managed to pass away on Halloween. I think it's a pretty magistral way to end such a carrier. So yeah, if u plan to do art, don't be afraid to think esoterically. As the man says, we're at the heart of something, transe like states bring you to a place, a place some call the Zone, and about which quantum physics have a lot to say. In this place you can learn a lot, nothing is tedious, everything is connected. Each time you go, you bring back a lil power from there. Use it well. Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeers mofos we lucky to be here.

      @hip hop is a culture. Rap music (consisting of an mc/rapper, and a beat, started with a dj), graffiti, break dancing, etc. Rap is the music part. This MC vs rapper bs is pseudo nonsense. A rapper is someone speaking rhythm and poetry over a beat or just a capella. There's numerous origins of why we use this word but that's practically what it is. DOOM was a great MC compared to lesser MCs is what you mean

      Wondering the same. The way DOOM’s voice switches up in different parts makes me think that he appeared on this show at a younger age too, before he really developed the more huskier sound to his voice. Also, he mentions the Black Bastards release finally happening, as if it was current, which would place that interview in 2000, when the album finally was released.

    • @punkrockjemojzivot
      @punkrockjemojzivot 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      this could be somewhere around 2009, mostly because he mentioned the mask is chromed with ruby, from 2002 - 2008 his mask was mostly rusted and he didnt had ruby on it yet (except some live shows, but the mask was rusty)

      The interview is after J dillas death. He talks about it 1:43:20. That probably puts it as a 2006-2007 interview. But there are some bits that are taken from earlier than that.

I don't know if it's possible to find a lot of his stuff in English, it is made for the Swedish broadcasting radio. I think you're be able to find an interview from him with whatever artist you're looking for (besides Prince)." And when i visited their website , it was in Swedish.

    • @ITSAK99
      @ITSAK99 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah its swedish. First thing he says goes something like this: "The mask stares at us from a black special design flight bag. With a heavy lock and metall corners. A mask that radiates coldness and sorrow, lying next to a champagne bootle. The latest version of the rebirths loose face, modeled on the movie gladiator. The first time I saw DOOMS real face was 1997. Then there was no cruel iron mask. Just a sock he pulled over his head when he showed up incognito at shows in New York. Daniel had just started to transform in to the scientist MF DOOM. Full of lust for a rematch maybe also a demand for revenge, he spoke with a flow and a language that spoke to us on a different frequency. Humoristic hip hop that approached quantum physics". like poetry man

Kind of reminds me of what Dr. Dre said in his interview about the majority of artists now don’t have that mystery about them anymore. You don’t need to know my every move. MF DOOM schooled his wife on that to because you would think she would be in everybody’s face basking in his fame/notoriety but she isn’t.

    *Interviewer* : “what gave you the ability to BEND SOUND?” *DOOM* : [sighs] “…and uh... how ya doing today, brother, as well? [laughs] The ability to bend sound? Is that what it sounds like-is happening?... well, aight... you know what it is? If I had to answer that question in a nutshell... what’s going on is this: I’m really following the sound. It’s pliable at certain points. So if you listen to it, you can find the pliability points in sound. So once you find the points, you know that’s where it could be easily-manipulated. So, I never... I can’t really, *bend* it, it’s just bending on its own. You just find the... part where it snaps like a LEGO piece and you could attach it. You know what I mean? Or it’s similar to how, proteins-like you could, y’know, proteins-they have attachment points. And each protein makes a different configuration. [...] It’s the same thing with music.” 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
