A Look at Arkansas's First Horticulture Discovery Farm
Those are really small Tomato bush .over here it spreads out so big and grow so big..
I'm growing several primocane cultivars developed by UA. Maybe I missed it but it would have been nice if you had mentioned in the beginning the series what varieties were used in the research. After watching all 5 videos I did some more digging and found out the research on primocane cultivars form UAEX don't benefit from this type of trellising.
This was extremely helpful and informative, after everything I watched I think this is the first person to explain what weak shoots are, why they are weak, and why you want to remove them. I will go out now and reassess my bushes, I don’t think I pruned nearly enough.
I’m in Montana… wondering if Prime-Ark Freedom would fruit here 1st year, how I might over-winter & if there are any trials in colder northern zones.
I'm envious of those giant bushes. I can grow productive southern highbush BBs here in Southern California but they only get up to about 4' tall.
Best tutorial for pruning blueberries!
wow that is a gigantic bb bush
How can i become a value added food business entrepreneur?
Did you provide a parts list, with lengths?
excellent narrative of the subject...
Outstanding presentation. I've been trying to work this build for a while. I'm retired now, so with your help I will move forward with confidence.
thanks . so clear so easy!!!!
This is super interesting. I started growing blueberries a year ago in the fall of 2023. I have some long chutes that have grown, and I debated pruning. I'm in Georgia and I started with a 1-gallon Pink Lemonade and a 3-gallon Premier. I was so excited when Spring came, and the flowers bloomed. I'm not sure what happened but I suspect that a late frost shocked and killed my Pink Lemonade. The Premier still grew a few berries; I think it wasn't self-fertile. I got myself another Pink Lemonade. During the hottest weeks of Summer, I watered with Fish Emulsion once a week. I was able to get some good vegetative growth and I hope that after Winter it will surprise me.
I don't prune my determinants and really dont have that much problem. I will admit that removing the lower ones will help with air flow, but it doesn't really need much. And I don't seem to get small tomatoes.
Just a suggestion, you may want to add some type of food coloring (blue, red, etc) to help show the liquid in the bucket go through the clear plastic line into the main line.
What type of drugs can we use there
Thanks Randy! Your expertise is greatly appreciated!
Literally did my PhD and Postdoc on these topics....wish I saw this back then!
How's your hops farm?
Wonderfully done Lizzy!
Great job Lizzy!
let the flowers be your guide. the large suckers can be rooted if you want more plants
I am watching your video Punjab India 🙏
When the rotations are moved...what prevents the stems from breaking???
There is enough flex in the lower part of the canopy that generally the canes lay over without breaking. Sometimes very thick canes that are less flexible won't bend and will crack.
I built one of these but it will not work with the amount of emitters I have. I am using about 50-60 half gallon emitters.
It is possible that you don't have enough flow through the system to run the venturi. Check the flow rating for the venturi you have and consider if a 'low flow' model might work better.
I have tomatoes and need help to preserve to prevent loss
🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
Why does does it need to rotate? An orchard near me grows blackberries with two fixed long arms. No need to transfer arms after floricanes are done fruiting.
We utilize the rotation system so 1) the canes can be lowered and covered during freeze events 2) canes can be trained in such a way that with the rotation they only flower and fruit on one side of the plant. This reduces sunburn of the fruit and keeps it cooler during harvest. Here is a link to our Part 1 video that introduces the RCA trellis and explains more of the benefits! th-cam.com/video/m5wzgQx_OQM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IN_88tr4eUwWn8_5
Blueberry 🫐 🫐🫐🫐🫐🫐🫐 thank you so much for putting this out there for us all. 🙏
Thanks great info!
I bought a few established bushes. But I don’t know how old they are. Any way to tell?
You can usually tell by the color of the stems/ bark. 1 year old stems will be greenish/red, 2 year old stems will be red/brown, 3 years will be more brown/ grey and stems that are older will have grey bark that is flaking off.
Thanks for sharing this video 👍
I live in South Georgia and I have Prime Ark Freedoms . If I have fruit on the Primocanes then I won’t have many fruits next year on the floricanes ?
Nah
Thanks Ryan. Greatly appreciated
Thank you! I finally found a Blueberry pruning video that explains all my pruning concerns, and is easy to understand. I'm saving this one to my Garden Tips Playlist so I can brush up just before pruning time.
Glad it was helpful!
I think correct me if I’m wrong that you did not mention to dry fit everything before glueing to make sure all your lengths are equal
You risk missing to glue a dry joint and having a leak or worse still a blowout.
Thank you very much. This is one of the best videos for blueberry pruning.
I'm trying for the first time and your video, among a thousand, was very useful to me! A thousand thanks
Amazing. Very clear. Love the easy to understand picture. This has got to be the best video all year that I have seen.
Very useful, helpful info. Thanks! 🙏🏼
Dude! I spent a half a year to make an 32mm KPE pressure valve set but the sunction is just not working. Could you please spend some time with me in a call, to make it happen? Thanks!
Make sure that the short pass thru pipe (black) that has the chemical draw line is a smaller size than the main lines in the system. Venturi suction is created when liquid from a larger line 'constricts' or squeezes to pass through a smaller line... kinda like putting your finger at the end of a hose to shoot water higher creates a higher velocity. That velocity draws the liquid into the system. Research 'venturi effect'.
Thanks very much. Your VDO makes me see how it works. That's useful.
Excellent instructions and tips! My timing always seems to be off, so will be saving this and hope to find it early winter for pre-pruning lessons and next summer's success!
thank you very much, this is great work and important information for any strawberry grower in the world. Thank you UAEX !
Amazing! Thank you!
All wild blackberries in California have a major major orange rust outbreak! ALL WILD BLACKBERRIES WILL NOT PRODUCE BERRIES!!! Is this intentional?
How many primocanes do you select to train?
2-3 is typical
@@ARfruitveg Thank you! These videos are amazing!
Is it safe to eat the berries that aren't affected by the actual mold if the entire patch has botrytis fruit rot? Or is the whole harvest bad even if some berries look healthy?
Fine to eat berries that aren't affected.
Hello dear, thanks for the demonstration. How long will it stay green and fresh out of the fridge?! I mean after vacuuming it
