That being said rear disk tabs seem to work pretty well for lots of older frames, but front disk brakes added to forks often bend the fork or crack the blade! lockpicking is really fun! when I started, I found it was best to just amass a huge collection of locks and see how many I could pick. each lock has its own technique and it's really tough to know what to do as a new person just by looking at the lock. but, if you have the time and patience to practice and play around, you can have some fun. raking is usually the first method to try since it's fast and easy and opens a surprising number of locks. also - you might want to look for a local locksport group. I bet Portland has an active community, and they tend to be great resources.

    • @andrew_yeah
      @andrew_yeah 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@starmichaelbuilds yeah, those are rakes. there are some different shapes (some are more effective on certain locks), but they work similarly - you apply a little rotational pressure while you slide it back and forth against the top of the keyway. it'll bounce the pins up, and since you are rotating the cylinder, as they bounce out they tend to catch and stick in the up position. on cheap sloppy locks you can just rake back and forth and the whole thing unlocks in a couple seconds.

      @andrew_yeah 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@starmichaelbuilds ah, those 11sp mtb cassettes fit because of a sneaky trick, not that they're spaced tighter than their road cousins! since they have big old pie plate cogs, and the first 3 or 4 are on a spider, that first cog is pushed over towards the spokes, past the base of the cassette. so the measured width across all the cogs is actually longer than the freehub body. 11sp road cassettes are spaced the same, but with the smaller-diameter cogs, they would have run into the spokes and so had to make the freehub body longer and push the flange toward the center. If you look at the back of any 11sp mountain cassette ("mountain" refers to anything with a biggest cog above 34T), and compare it to an 11sp roadie, you should be able to see the difference.
