I have faith DT will end it's life in GOAT status
I genuinely feel like Darktide has always been really good. It’s been rough and has had worse states in its lifespan but it’s not bad, nor is it anywhere close to dead. It’s unfortunately competing with the attention span of people who’ve been shovel fed gold crusted slop by some AAA and AAAA games. And it’s already competing in what I’d say is a genuinely niche genre. It’s like a fighting game - the loop is more about getting good at your character and combos (class, weapons, abilities) and knowing the limitations of your moveset (attacks, priority targets, how to efficiently use your build). The count of missions can give nice new environments to fight in, new dialogue, maybe some new objectives. But it’s ultimately going to be the same repetitive thing - getting stuck in fighting a horde while trying to move forward and complete a thing. I personally feel there is a large group of people who approach games now of days that their attention span is only focused on what can rapidly provide piece meal content and Darktide just isn’t that. To me it’s a game that respects my investment in the core-loop, environment, developing my ‘skill’ at something, and not begging me to play it like a part time job. I can pop in and enjoy a couple hours weekly, daily, monthly, have new cool things to do, and never feel like I’m being FOMO’d out of something (so far. sorry the cash shop just doesn’t matter to me that much and it rotates a lot of things but I get if that’s something you care about). Even within its own genre (not played SM2 yet but I’m doubtful its gameplay has the same mechanical depth as -Tide games)… within its own genre I believe Darktide is the best to do it. If we look at content purely made by the devs and not mods. L4D is quite bare bones imo and I found it hard to be invested in years ago even when it was new and cool, Tide1 was similar barring e joying the challenge. Tide 2 really pushes the “mastering the mechanics to carry/clutch/win the smoothest way possible”, Helldivers 2 is genuinely sad and suffers from a lack of player expression, Back4Blood just sucks but maybe it’s slightly better now if days, and then Darktide. Again, without mass moded content (looking at L4D specifically) I think Darktide provides the most engaging combat, progression, environment, and lore (different from narrative. -Verm2 and Darktide respectively have progressively weak narratives between the two, Verm2 having the stronger of the two of course). And I say ‘lore’ in the same way that Dark Souls 1 is largely lore based and the later souls games progressively gained attention to the narrative. Lore being things you find for yourself, pick up from notes or character banter and conversations, narrative being what the game is directly telling you from exposition drops and cut scenes. I’d also say that Darktide does classes, currently, better than Verm2 did. Yea I like the predesigned characters of Verm much better and how each class is very uniquely and obviously that class. But the build and depth of classes themself are much more interesting to me in Darktide. Theres more combinations, mixing, flexing of options and so on. If a new class is released, even just one, I believe the build depth of Darktide will be even more so considerably greater than its competition. Anyways, yes I think Darktide is genuinely the best to do co-op horde content, it’s always been good but certainly more rough at times than others. I can empathize with the gripe of their speed of content because I do want more Darktide because it is so good, but I have to also acknowledge that I have a life outside of video games and I’d rather have something fulfilling and enjoyable to come back to when it feels right than being FOMO’d by events that drip feed ‘social media hype’ content that does little to serve the complexity and depth of the game.
Is the issue with server disconnects still happening? That’s the only reason keeping me away.
I haven't experienced any disconnects since last year on pc. I've heard console has some issues but I cant speak to that.
I just wish there was more mission variety.
For it to be good, first there needed to be a time where it was bad. We are spoiled in 2024 we don't really know how to classify games anymore. Anything that isn't a shining beacon of hope is seen as mid because our attention spans have been reduced to goldfish levels. Darktide, on release, was great, it felt great to play and really only lacked polish. Now, oh buddy, the game is so much fun.
Genuinely this. It was rough for sure; crashes, stutter, desync and of course crafting. It had problems. But what holds it back is that it’s not a dopamine slop fest of battlepasses and constant quarterly AAAA content drops. I feel on the greater stage of modern games it has to compete now with the attention spans of people spoiled by systems that games like Fortnite, Apex, and CoD have established for shooter games. It the reality is that Darktide has always been good, and has extremely good mechanics. Less and slower content than these AAA or AAAA examples? Yes. But that doesn’t make it bad or not worth the time.
The game is really good but terror in the dark should have been better comunicated so we don't wait for a new boss ^^ It feels like they're trying out a mechanism to insert seasonal bosses but didn't have the boss itself ready in time (that might be optimistic cope)
Buddy’s it’s always been good
Well...I came in just after the beta ended and I'd say it merited some criticism back then, but its greatly improved since then and had some major improvements within the last month. Its very fun and getting better, IMO
I've got a 75% chance of getting a 2001 / 2014 error per session, often multiples. That's my main gripe. Although, I'm on Starlink. But it's the only game that drops connection that much. And yes, I'd love another faction to spice things up (wink-wink Genestealers wink-wink), or a Chaos Waste random dungeon. As for the rest, I'm not bothered. I'm mostly looking to spend an hour, so a couple sessions in Auric Maelstrom, and get that kick in the brain.
u interact with traitor, when buy cosmetics for gold... and after 30 she get servetorysed
Gameplay is great but everything else is still subpar but QOL is below that. Modder are saviors to this game.
I love this game. Its so much fun. 4 very unique classes with very unique build potentials ans new ways to play each class. The story is an afterthought. But i loved left 4 dead and this game takes all the fun challenges from Left 4 dead and puts a cool warhammer flair with fun classes, fun weapons, fun abilities all being able to put up against challenging maps. Team work is real in this game. Not to mention the community is so kind and fun. Its a joy win or lose.
Darktide is best experience wheb instead of trying fo grind for hours, you grind like idk a set ammount of missions
Darktide is a good game? probably, it has serious problems? yes, im just gonna point out 3 things that u said about the the game that i think you are wrong about (there is more) 1 - content doesn't release at a slow rate like a couple of weeks or months, content drops soo much slower than u think, after the traitor curse part 2 (5 december 2023), that i consider it being the last meaningfull update, 6 months where needed to see this secret of the machine god update, The Orthus Offensive was a game mode that people played until they got the achivments and that was like a week or a day for some and never played it again, and path of redemtion just was a meaningless upgrade of penance system, only bringed with it a few cosmetics and a new bomber. 2 - when you said that a ton of weapons where added, well not really, most of the are just differents mk (version) of the same weapons that we had or they added 3 mk when a "new" weapon was added, and im not even saying how meaningless and much worse, how boring this new weapons are (shovels, shotguns, etc), not a single staff or cool weapon from this universe has been added (just the boltpistol, but it's not even good). 3 - why compare with vermintide?, im not saying that is a bad game, but numbers doesn't lie and at the moment im writting this vermintide 2 have 1600 active players, that's varely the players needed to not shut down a game. Darktide have been in bad situacion of player numbers too, before patch 13 it only where around 2000 every day for the past 7 months, and right now it isn't in a good position either (3600 players). I play a lot this game i have 1700 hours on it, if i critique it, is not for the sake of talking shit or trolling, i really want this game to be good and improve, but glazing everything that the devs do is not gonna help the game. Problems have to be adressed and this game have a lot of them. P.S. i varely know how to communicate in inglish so some things that i write might be wrong in the way i prashe them.
I've had a whole bunch of fun playing this game recently. Started 3 days ago... Already have 15 hours in it 😂
Darktide needs a solo mode with bots... also need more weapon customization, like scope, laser, bigger mags..etc. but overall..awesome game, one of my favorite.
There's a Mod for weapon scopes and stuff, and other customization like more detailed hud, scoreboards, improved psykanium with boss spawns etc already and devs support community mods really well you will not get banned for using it, your game optimization and performances will not be affected by it. But yea i'd like those officially too. But for now im happy with the mods i've installed.
@@dumbname1961 I know got them all mods.. but weapon customization should be integrated already within the game.
I'm a huge 40k fan and love Darktide.. I do agree with some of the opinions out there on the content and how it feels like they could improve certain things.. but I do recognize they've made good changes and additions to the game. I think it's important to highlight these improvements like in your video. If FS is planning to be here in the long run then so am I.
Yes They just multiplied the plasteel drops and that lubricates a lot of the friction
For me it is really good now, once that new crafting system releases it will be full game finally. most of the crashes disconnects and game breaking bugs are ironed out, we have huge Variety of weapons and class optimizations. Game is hella fun. People who have negative opinions are still hung up on the reviews they made 1 and half year ago. Atleast with fatshark i can have faith in them making game even better as time goes... Unlike AH.
At least the cultist shooting you doesn't launch you though the map like in helldivers
I'm a new player to Darktide and a veteran Vermintide 2 player. I do enjoy the combat more in Darktide. The combination of more ranged and melee enemies make it a lot more engaging. VT2 is 99% all melee which makes the game more predictable and stale. The Talent trees in DT is a lot more intensive which allows a lot more personal expression. If Fat Shark ever add a Chaos Wastes version in DT I'd be all in. It's the only reason i'm still playing VT2.
There both magnificent games😎 I find myself playing between from time to time. I started playing Darktide since 2023 I think, seeing how old Vermintide 2 is and how Fatshark still gives attention and update to the game more than a few years after it's release gives me an very picture of Darktide's future.😩👍
@Robert-fr9wl I agree. Unfortunately Fatshark have never really been quick with anything. Considering they recently (which the community has been begging for) implemented quality of life improvements to VT2 years after release just means the same for DT. This isn't a sprint, more like a marathon and patience is required. Luckily we can bounce between VT2 and DT while we wait for content to drop.
Glad this came up in my recommended! Great first long form video 😄
Excellent video, surprised you don't have more views!
I'll give you a sub homie
Awesome video, bro! I copped this game for the boys and I recently since I’ve wanted to play it forever and I’ve been trying to look for ways to improve since I’m new to total war. I appreciate the tier list, now I’ll have a better idea of what units to pick since I’m lost af 😂 all the love. Hope your channel makes it, broski. I’d recommend making some Warhammer 3 content if you have it since Warhammer 40K’s been popping up a lot recently. Much love, all the best to you! ❤
