TYVEK - Wayne County Roads - On Triple Beams
Where a lot of their garage-rock peers insist loudly on not giving a fuck, Detroit five-piece Tyvek seem casual about it, and therefore more genuine: They could give a fuck about seeming to not give a fuck. This "We're just here" pose has kept them underneath the modest limelight that has lifted others above them, but it also frees up their music to be expertly loose rather than just sloppy, genuinely relaxed instead of just half-baked. "Wayne County Roads" pounds a hulking Nick Lowe chord progression into the floor, the drummer doing a big mind-obliterating Dave Clark Five thud while lead singer Kevin Boyer's sardonic declaimed vocals do a ginned-up standup routine on top. It's explosive and restrained, stupid-simple, and arch in the same breath

It's there as a warning without a red light It's a please in the morning and thank you at night It's a version of myself, I show it to nobody else The Me only mirrors know is coming out to say hello I could always hide and let it go If I never tried, I'd never know That somewhere is here, that sometime is now That no disappeared and became a somehow It's a version of myself, I show it to nobody...

God still looks down on me!
At 38 years of age I’m finally brave enough to “open the door” with a romantic interest, and I think it just might be the key to true love.
One of Crawley’s finest bands.
Always come back to this !! Always magical and beautiful as ever
This song is reeaally greeeaaattt😂
This blew my young mind in 1992. Where is this innocence now? Modern music blows compared to the fresh treats of Pooh Sticks, Gorkys, early Tindersticks and Teenage Fanclub. Gorgeous. IMHO, obvs.
Swansea’s finest! Such a big sound. This is one of my favs
Swansea? SOUND!
This song sounds magical
I love the "Yeah" at 4:02. It's like a secret revealed.
wait i thought this was Ever's song ?
You have to understand the history of Ever and All The Daughters. I was the bass player in Ever Mk1 but then Ever dissolved so I helped form All The Daughters with Lyndon on vocals and Nick on guitar. We dissolved after differences in the band then Lyndon and I helped reform Ever (Mk2) with Peter the original Ever guitarist and various drummers. We brought the catalogue of songs from All The Daughters and merged them with the Ever catalogue as we were similar in style. Hope that helps?
@@MantaRay10 ohhh ok yeah i never knew that but it helps , yeah thats really cool to know. I'm just one of those young 21 year old lads , came across the band last year n didnt find the other demos until this year, you guys were one of the best
Pre Ever mark 2. 1986
Nice.
I think this song is Oooooooooookaay!
Nice, v. sharp guitar work, why didn't this unit make it?
How does a band that sounded as good as this not make it???
Tragic when a good little band that sounded this fantastic didn't make it.
Ahhhhh - the heady days of the Crawley Scene… the Apple Tree, the Forest Theatre Festival……feeling young again - crazy!
Love it
@Mantaray10😀. I hear the bass
my song...
pogoing to the moon..lovely tune
Tremendous. Thanks for posting this.
im so happy to have discovered these bands, and also jangle pop!
I wish I could listen to these on spotify
Wow!
Theres nothing on the internet about this band does anyone know about this band or all the daughters
Originally formed in Crawley 1981 as a duo with a drum machine, we went through various incarnations, members and record labels until eventually knocking it on the head in 1992. We didn't have a lot of luck with record labels and distributers - rough trade and Midnight records going bust on the eve of our 1st single and 1st album, but we played a fair amount of gigs around the country, supported some good bands and had some wild times. It is still possible to get hold our 'Virginise' EP, a track on the Forever changing compilation with Blur, and another track on the Nocturnal compilation album.
i was a big Ever fan bak in the day, you mention an album. Any chance of hearing the songs.@@lordlazerus
I had that tape too but had a clear out and it went AWOL. This was the one of the first song I ever heard by Bobby Scarlet and it was played to death on that tape.
!!!!!!!!!
Here before this somehow ends up on Tik Tok. This is some good ass goth
this is Another Sunny Day song.
this is their original, later covered by ASD.
I love the jangle.
"Some of them are dancin', some of them are kissin' in cars ... "
"Driving in their daddy's cars" - original.
Love this song!!! great jangle tune!
I just discovered that the band that recorded the tracks for this song by Lenny Henry was The Beat. The note appears in the book of Ranking Roger "I Just can`t stop it", My life in the Beat
What takes the place of flexi-discs now? free downloads? Bandcamp?
Love it! xx
a great pop tune indeed
CLASSIK
Soooooo many bands tried to sound like this but they got it 👌🏽. Shame it wasn’t massive.
😍🎸
Wonderful stuff... should have been massive.
Basement club - 90s - rock n roll baby
Who sung the song first? Ever? Or, this band, All the Daughters? And, are All the Daughters and Ever one and the same band?
Better late than never with the reply. Sleepyhead was written and performed first by All the Daughters but the band soon fell apart. After that Ever was reformed with me back on bass and Lyndon replacing David on vocals. Pete was the original Ever guitarist who replaced Nick (ATD), who didn't want to be any part of the band scene at the time. We had similar style in songs so we merged the best songs from the catalogue of the bands. I hope that helps and sorry it's taken so long for you to get an answer.
@@MantaRay10 Yes, thanks. I had a feeling that they were connected somehow.
Just going to hijack this comment a little bit to ask if you maybe had/remember the lyrics to this song? Between this and the Ever version, I can make out most of it, but there are certain parts that I can't quite understand. Thanks!
@@patrickcaffrey8180 We go back such a long way I remember when each new day was a lovers day But I recall you crying little Sleepyhead God still looks down on me Hope she likes what she sees And I won’t forget my stupid grin As you lay there dozing on my lap at the back of the coach Ah we’d grow up so well, my Sleepyhead God still looks down on me Hope she likes what she sees I’m so drowsy but it makes no sense to me Why a boy could have been so happy on a school leaving day And the summertime, it reminds me of an age ago You’d lie with me in the long grass and swap tongues with me We left school more than best friends We had to share a room at David’s party And we spoilt everything, my little Sleepyhead I took the hint climbed in your bed But we didn’t sleep, no no, didn’t sleep Didn’t sleep. I’m still drowsy but it makes no sense to me Why a boy could have been so happy on a school leaving day And the summertime, it reminds me of an age ago You’d lie with me in the long grass and swap tongues with me
Thanks so much!
Cool song
haha! I have the autographed one as well....great band
