The sandbags take the pressure of the floodwater and the plastic makes the sandbag wall water tight so we prefer to have the plastic over the sandbags to mitigate against water exerting pressure on the door directly. However, you could always go with 2 lines of defense by taping plastic over the doorway followed by your sandbags and plastic on top. Plastic is cheap, simple, and super effective at stopping seepage and we are always happy to use multiple lines of defense with plastic if the situation allows. NOTE: We use 6mm plastic sheeting. TIP: Within this video, you can see how we used Gorilla Tape to seal the plastic to the building and the ground to prevent seepage. If you heat the Gorilla Tape on your vehicle dashboard with the heater blasting for a few minutes, the tape becomes super sticky which helps to create the best adhesion possible. It works great!

There are T-Posts within the pallets that are providing it structural support. For 'Part 2", we simply used 2x4's at a 45 degree angle on the 'dry side' to prop it up and had water overtop it for upwards of an hour without any issue.

It would all depend on direction of wind impact, was it gusting, and the configuration of the NOAQ Boxwall but I would say that it would not UNTIL WATER IS AGAINST IT Therefore, I would simply place 'x-amount' of sandbags on the toe of the product to keep it anchored until the water shows up if you are in a high wind environment. This product is regularly used in hurricanes in this manner!

Here is a similar technique where I used shipping pallets. In this example, it failed at 40" of depth but I went back and reinforced it with some 2x4's AND bought thicker T-Posts and was able to get it to overtop without failure. We will be posting that video at some point very soon

If I did not have sandbags, that is exactly what I would do!! Or, you could even do both! However, the sandbags are primarily there take the hydrostatic pressure of the water against the door whereas the plastic is there to make it water tight. Garage doors for example, will commonly experience structural failure after about 18"-24" of water against them due to the pressure of the flood water. If sandbags were in place, the weight of the sandbags keeps them in place and in turn keeps the water pressure off your door and protects it from failure.

You will notice the seepage quickly subsides after the water between the plastic and the ground is allowed to escape. However, this was built on a base of porous sand.......so water will naturally continue to seep through the sandy ground. The longer the piece of plastic on the ground, the slower any seepage will be allowed to take place but you can clearly tell that seepage quickly subsided and seepage rates continued to go down to a minimal level.

Unfortunately for this product, there are not taller options. However, we have alternative options for higher flood protection requirements.

Yes, I use black Gorilla Tape. NOTE: It works the best if you heat it up like putting it on the dashboard of your car and blast it with the heater. This is particularly helpful in damp and cold situations and/or when you are trying to get it to stick to something that is dirty or gritty

This product can be used to protect a garage but yes, weep holes would be a concern as they allow floodwater through and into your walls.
