Very nice video and fish - but drop the music....cheers Torben, DK
Many thanks for your feedback 👍
Epic video! It really displayed what fishing is all about! Still sorry you lost that fish...
Many thanks for your kind words. Yes, it was a pretty tough loss & it would have been nice to be able to film that fish close up & get a really good look at such a specimen, but hey... that's fishing!
Thanks ... Fit is very important ... had scarpa and I am selling them , I am fed up of testing ... but I think to try Zamberlan and see other boots from them and the fit they do have wide fit and every fit on the website is different and you must use the fit chart which I need 28,5 cm , UK 9,5 or 10 idk... I hope they are softer on your feet from the inside ..
Many thanks for your comment & yes, fit is hugely important. If you have a Zamberlan handler anywhere near you, I would highly recommend going to try some pairs on first. Generally though, I can still only say good things about my experiences with Zamberlan. I have bought more footwear from them in the last year & they are really comfortable.
Wooooe😮❤

looks like a magic place to fish at! brilliant vid
Thank you so much! It certainly is a special place & I feel very privileged to have gotten to know it so well.
I really enjoyed this video! You did an amazing job.

Fantastic video!
Thank you very much!
Looks awesome man!!! Great channel too I’ll definitely subscribe
Many thanks, my friend! Just checked out your channel... Nice stuff & I subscribed to you too 👍
Excellent review, James. I do a lot of what you do in Newfoundland and British Columbia. I will probably pick it up based on your info. Thanks.
Hi Jonathan. Many thanks for your kind words & I'm glad that you found the review helpful.
I’m on my 10 th season on the same Old G3,s in this video and I’m needing some newbies, so I’ll see if I can get these new G3,s , they look like they’ll do a great job. Thanks
10 years is a great return 👌 Thanks for your comment
Great video James ! very helpful for anyone who wants to give tight line nymphing a try…you certainly have some beautiful rivers to fish where you are …tight lines and best wishes, Wildish Club
Many thanks for your comment. It's much appreciated 👍
Well done James!
Thanks a lot 🙏
How is this different from tenkara?
In essence, it's very similar. The heavy euro nymphing flies are vastly different from traditional tenkara flies, though, and you have adjustment to the line length & a reel to play larger fish off.
How is the sizing on these? Do you need to size up for a good fit with the waders? Or just go with your normal sizing?
Hi Richard, that's a good question... As with all wading boots, it should be one size up over normal footwear to accommodate for thick socks & the waders' neoprene stocking feet. With these, that works for me in US & UK sizes, but not EU size. I normally take street shoes in US 12, UK 11, or EU 45.5-46. My G3 boots are US 13, also labelled as UK 12 & EU 46.
What length is your leader from fly line in total I always wanted to try something like this out,,
My section of tapered leader, from fly line to 1st tippet ring, is about 1.7m / 5.5ft (then about 50cm of indicator tippet + water depth appropriate tippet)... good luck with it!
I’ll have to try this out in the headwater pockets when summer starts in NZ. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the comment... I hope that it works well for you 👍
I've had 3 pairs no other option for me
Why change a winning formula, right?
Thanks for your view. These G3 weigh 2182 grams. The Simms freestone weight 1530. That's about 600g per show difference. Do you have a view on the Freestone?
I haven't used the Freestone boots myself, though have friends who have & I haven't heard any complaints. Freestone was traditionally Simms' budget line of wading gear, with savings made on materials & manufacturing, though now they have a more budget friendly line, "Tributary." The G3 boots are designed & made to be more hard-wearing & of higher quality. I haven't had any problems or complaints with weight & remember, this will change a lot when the boots are wet. If light weight is what you are after, I would also look at Simms' "Flyweight" boots... designed to reduce weight, but keep the quality high. There are also lightweight options from other manufacturers.
@@jameslisteroutdoors thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I have heard the flyweights are poor durability looks like I’ll get the free stones and save a little money
Glass... this is it :-)
I do love fishing my glass rods!
Beautiful views and nice fish btw.
Many thanks 😊
What a beauty mate
Thanks 👍
Your video is well made and informative. I also love fishing and I am really keen on combing it with wilderness camping. Thanks!
Many thanks... it's a great combination!
@@jameslisteroutdoors By chance, do you know if the Yukon with the ‘V2’ carrying system would be a good option?
@mordekai23 I would say that it depends on what kind of trips you plan. The V2's have a slightly lighter construction (about 20% lighter) & are designed for carrying loads up to 25kg, whereas the X1's can be loaded much heavier. I have no personal experience with the V2's, but have really liked every Tatonka product that I've bought so far. For most trips under a week, 25kg should be enough. I like that extra ruggedness & support & the option to go even heavier, though.
How good this jacket performs ? In minus 10
The Helium jacket is good at -10°C if you are being active & using it as part of a layer system. Standing around/resting at that temperature & the down fill is on the light side... I would then prefer a thicker/heavier down filled jacket, though this will still provide decent insulation if the other layers are right. I was warm enough watching an outdoor skating show in -10 with a merino wool base layer, a thick, merino wool jumper & this jacket on top. I hope that helps.
Thank you for the detailed answer. Main purpose is lifestyle like while waiting for bus. I live in Copenhagen so temp doesn’t go -5. 😊 I tried NorthFace jacket diablo which is so thick. When i wear this jacket it is so lightweight.
Tolle Arbeit James. Vielen Dank für deinen Einsatz.
Danke Philipp!
I also use G3, but with aluminum spikes. They do not harm the car or boat, and at the same time hold well on rocks and wood. Without spikes, one fall into the water can damage expensive gear or, even worse, cause harm to your health.
Thanks for your comment. How do you find the spikes when hiking on hard surfaces, out of the water?

Interesting... thanks for sharing 👍
Great review James... I have been researching wading boots for a while now and pulled the trigger on a pair of G3`s guide, liked how sturdy and the quality feel of this boot I think they will be perfect for the Arsh environment up here in northern British Colombia Canada glad I ran into your review someone that actually purchased a second pair of G3`s..thanks in advance... keep up the good work.
Many thanks for your comment! BC is a beautiful part of the world... I'd love to get back there someday for some fishing adventures. Enjoy your fishing & I'm sure the boots will serve you well 👍
I have never owned a pr of Zamberlain boots but since I do lots of off-trail hiking here in Az I'm in the market for something like this! I'm also considering Crispi.
Many thanks for your comment. I've no experience with Crispi, but these are definitely great boots for off-trail adventures 👍
Awesome review. thank you for making this video. I have been struggling to figure out which pair of Zamberlan boots I want to go with, and your review made it a little bit easier. Thank you sir. Stay safe on the trails and happy hiking!
Thank you so much for your kind words, and I'm glad that the video was helpful for you 👍
Good review awesome pair.
Thanks a lot!
Looking for a new pair of boots, these caught my eye. Many reviewers stated that they are very warm, which made me worried about using them in summer temperatures (up to 35 degrees). So this concern is unsubstantiated?
Also, is it true that they should be purchased one size larger?
I haven't had any issues with them being too warm... they are very lightweight & I've been completely comfortable hiking with them in 30+ degrees. I would suggest that the right socks are important in hot temperatures. With the Gore-Tex membrane, this may make them a little warmer than a similar boot without it, but it is still a breathable material & stops water penetrating from outside. With regard to the sizing, for me, they were true to my regular size. If it's not possible to try before buying, definitely make sure that you can return them if they don't fit well! I hope that helps & thanks for watching 👍
@@jameslisteroutdoors Thanks for your feedback. I just ordered the Leopards instead of the Lynx, mostly because the Leopards are available in wide last in a size that should fit. Well - according to their size sheet. Because I usually wear 47.5-48, but according to their chart I would be a 45 in the wide last. I do usually have a lot of empty space in front of my toes on any normal shoes, so maybe this is going to be a perfect fit. I am quite excited to try it. The only difference to the Lynx should be the lower cut, which I believe might actually be a blessing in disguise, as it matches the height of my old Salomons. Oh also I got the Boa version, let's see how those hold up.
@markusa3803 let's hope that they are a good fit for you then, & and hopefully, the Leopards are the right boots for you. All the best 👍
Nice video 👍
Thanks a lot 🙏

You've stocked trout but do u know how to stalk trout lol👍
My stalking needs some work 🤣
😂😂😂
Are they waterproof? Or do they have drain holes? I wanted to use them as both hiking and wading boots
They have drain holes, so are definitely not waterproof. They are very comfortable for hiking in if wearing waders or neoprene wading socks, but are no substitute for proper hiking boots. Another point to consider is that wading boots should be a size larger than your regular footwear to give space for thick socks & waders. With only regular socks, the wading boots will be too large.
Great review. I recently bought a pair of Zamberlan LYNX MID GTX RR BOA hunting boots. Best boots ever. No break-in period. Tighten the BOA laces and and start walking. The laces will balance out to a comfortable feel. Pricey at $500 but more than worth it.
Thanks a lot 🙏 I completely agree that they were comfortable from day 1.
👍
I’m the type to just throw some Cholula in my bag and call it a day but I have to admit making your own does sound enticing. Also, that harvest was amazing!
Making your own is a lot of fun & you really get to play with the flavours. Thanks for the comment 👍
Really enjoyed the video! The hot sauce seems like it would taste really good. It would have been nice to see more of the gardening, harvesting etc. I think the algo recommended this to me because of the general gardening content lol. Though I also have an interest in backpacking and related activities. Good luck, looking forward to future videos.
Many thanks for the comment & I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I deliberately kept the gardening part short as it's a bit of a departure from my regular content. Who knows, though? Maybe I can go deeper with it in the future if it proves popular... 👍
Best review video!
Wow, thanks!

I found your review helpful, thank you. I have run Meindel and Lowa boots most of my life, I like Lowa best, however I have been thinking of a a new pair of Zamberlan Voiz or these boots you’ve reviewed, my only tilt is the Camo pattern, wish they built them in good ol Brown.
Thanks for the comment... I'm glad that it was helpful. I would have preferred brown, too, but I really don't mind the camo now.
I recently ordered from Zamberlan and needed to make changes to my order almost immediately after I made the order. Multiple emails and numerous calls with zero replies. When my order comes in I'll immediately return and never even look at another Zamberlan again. I don't care if they have the best boots in the world if they ignore their customers they won't have my business.
I'm sorry to hear about your experience & I feel your frustration & annoyance. In which country is this? I've never dealt with Zamberlan directly myself. Instead, always buying through a local dealer who provides excellent customer service. My experience with their products, though, has been entirely positive. Hopefully, you'll end up with a product & service that you're happy with, wherever that is from.
HERO!
Ha ha🤣! Thanks for the comment 👍
you are sparking from too far away. you need to crumble the birch bark. keep practicing. those small sticks will never lite from the spark
Many thanks for the advice! I'll get there :)
I have these shoes. Unfortunately, the way they behave on wet rocks completely disqualifies them. they slip and are very unpredictable on wet rock. apart from that, the shoe is great, but unfortunately it is not suitable for trips to high parts of the mountains. On snow or light ice it's a nightmare. Unfortunately, I then put on my old Meindl vakum gtx, which have much better grip.
Interesting. I've had the opposite experience on wet rocks... no slipping at all & they grip far better than my other boots or hiking shoes. I haven't used them in winter & probably won't use them on snow & ice as I have other boots designed just for that. Thanks for your comment.
The sole in these is the Vibram 3D, exclusive to Zamberlan, which is found on the Vioz model too. My experience of those is that the 3D sole is shockingly sketchy on wet rocks and light snow etc. It also wears out far too quickly. I now have a pair of Zamberlan Sella, which have a similar upper configuration to the boots featured, with the inner and outer flex zones, and the same height of shaft. The Sella are Goodyear welted construction and have the much superior, IMO, Vibram Nortak sole unit.
W❤W! That’s Awesome Review! Have a lovely week! Cheers!🥂❤️✨
