*sigh* It takes more than being able to read a defense to avoid sacks. John Elway is a perfect example of an excellent quarterback that at one point got sacked a lot. It takes a combination of good offensive line, a good HB/FB, the ability to read a defense, and a slippery QB to not get sacks. You need to build a team around your QB's strengths and weaknesses. To circle back to Elway, he was fast, had a quick release, and was good at reading a defense, he just didn't have the offensive line or the RBs he needed in the 80s.

I normally am team analytics but here I agree they should have kicked a field goal. Analytics don’t take into account an incompetent coach, play caller, QB, and fan base. Every positive yard is a gift, or a fluke.

Baseball is one of the dumbest sports ever created for television, so you need the visual drama to create interest for television. Picking up the phone and calling the bullpen creates visual drama.

This is really an issue? A bench coach picks up a dry line that rings the bull pen and they tell them to get Smith going. Whats the issue here? It takes all of 10 secs? Is that slowing down the game? Seriously, what is the issue with calling the Pen?
