Hi m8 whats the car parking/access to pegs like plz?
@smoggyangler Car parking is good, short walk to pegs. Some were overgrown and some you have to clamber down to a little to but there are plenty to go at 👍
Absolutely dreadful and inappropriate music. I switched off immediately
Is this a day ticket water or free
@@thehivemind5531 leeds dasa club water. £70/ year. Large variety of stretches to fish, swale, ouse, Nidd e.tc
Love this keep up the good content. Great footage hope to see more
There are very big perch in this lake.
Heard that. Will have to give it a go in the winter with some worms/maggots.
They were gudgeon. There are a couple of swims downstream of the bridge that I cut in, but are probably hiding under vegetation now.
Go up stream a few fields..excellent barbel swims near the wood
Will investigate, thanks 👍
That Gudgeon looked to me like a Tommy Ruffe
Not aimed at yourself in particular, I’ve fished the swale man and boy for over forty years now, and I’ve noticed that people like to fish close to bushes snags etc, it seems the trend nowadays is to have your rod high and sit back from your rods, surely if your casting and fishing in a spot where you are close to bushes, the barbel are very good at learning there surroundings and usually leave the shade of the snags in low light conditions, now that first couple of seconds in my experience when a barbel takes, he is already heading back to his snag, with the stretch of line, the give in the rod, surely it would be more advantageous to sit next to your rods, to hit the bite and turn the fish as soon as possible, I can understand it in a big river like the Trent or even the Ouse, but in a narrow river like the Swale I would have thought it would make sense. Just an observation. Personally I always fish down the inside so I’m always sat with my rod, as soon as a bite my rod goes low and turns the fish and I play it along the bottom which is more natural for the fish and it’s shape, I’ve found if I try and bring it straight up to the light it’s a much more intense fight. Just an observation.
It used to be "Leeds Book Holders Only" - is that still the case ?
Mate how bad is the weed in pond a this time of the year
The weed does get bad in the summer but there are plenty of spots away from weed or fish on the edge of . Some nice fish in pond b
Massive length of river fished it all some really good barbel and pike in there
Will have to venture the length. Nice venue though and no sign of cattle that day 🙂🙂
@outdoorssensible it's worth a good walk with out your gear, where you first went over that stone bridge it goes for at least 3 fields lots of the barble anglers go way up there .... And if you keep walking down where you were fishing the first big bend you come to is a good place especially in flood even bank high, need a heavy set up mind 6oz lead as it fair pushes through there.... in fact on my channel there is a video called 2pb barble that is on that bend😉
Thanks for the info! Will have a look at that video 👍. Need a good bit of rain to maybe turn the fishing on, definitely bit more roving further next time also. Sounds like there are some good pegs to go at.
Decent chub though
And you put the crayfish back in,you should have killed it...
Its a Dace but hey its a fish no blank lol
About to net a chub of a couple of pound on the Nidd last week, when a pike grabbed it. Played them for several minutes and had the net under the pike when it decided to let go. Returned with pike gear and soon had one of 13 lb, but I don't think it was the fish that had the chub. Rivers are so low you could walk across in wellies at the moment.
Hi Stephen. Might have to try further afield and get onto the Nidd and Trent. Crayfish are invasive on stretches on the Swale also which can hamper the fishing although not as much in faster flow it seems... Where the crayfish are have seen a few otters about crunching away in the darkness. 😂
Put 2 bivvy pegs in your bag for your rod butts.. 👍
Hi Liam I’ve just subscribed to your channel as you show the blanks to make us all feel human 😂. I’m an old barbel angler . I’ve fished with the Leeds book for years and recently given it up as I fish the Aire and Trent mainly. The Nidd is a good place for barbel. The Ulleskelf stretch is dead due to pollution and the Ouse has a cray fish problem. Anyway tight lines
Ulleskelf dead? easedyke seems fine
Ulleskelf is where our club holds the bulk of it's matches.
Enjoyed the video, certainly different fom your last trip at Topcliffe, have watched tthe LADASA Barbel restock video from 2023, would be very interesting to know if any of them have stayed in this area or moved on.
Will have a look at that video. I didn't see many signs of fish bar small ones. Might try walking further around next time and give it another bash
What club own that stretch
Leeds dasa
I've put some time in on this stretch recently and struggled, Good chance I was the other person on at the same time. The wind has been mega. Trying to learn what I can before the river starts fishing well.
You can but only If with someone from club with you who books it What strength line you got on bud ? No offence meant just observation but rivers are in worst condition for fish this time year , and considering no flow at toppy ,it took you an age to get a modest fish in ,thought you had low to mid double how long it took atleast u rested it tho
@andrewbogan1751 Use between 12 and 15 lb line and it put up a good fight with my weight guess conservative.
It is a members only water topcliff not aloud to use the guest tickets here and a couple of others ...im 99%sure anyway lol
Can you get a day tickets for that stretch.
There are no day/gust tickets on thet stretch. Join Leeds DASA to fish it.
@@Charlyfarly2good job you check people’s book tom to make sure they have one as some people thinks it’s ok to go with someone who has a book and think they can fish for free !!! for the price of a yearly book it’s a bargain. Some lovely places to fish and meet some good people as well. 👍…. toppy has always been a popular sport and I know it can be hard at times as only you will know there are some lovely fish to be had. Let’s hope it stays that way and people look after it. all the best 👍🎣
Not no expert by a long chalk but i zero my scales with a wet sling so i know the actual weights of fish cqught just throwing it out there nice chub byw 👍
What rods you using?
We're bo you get a day ticket
@anthonyavison9098 it's part of the leeds dasa club
I’m I hearing ASOT in the background?
Thanks, nearly got snagged up but I got lucky
nice chub
That wasn't a gudgeon mate.
I didn't think it was🤣🤣
Know that peg. Had a huge Chub hang me up on the tree to your left. Sorry to tell you though, your gudgeon was a dace.
Is that a day ticket water ?
@@billyaces5397 Leeds dasa club. Loads of rivers/ stretches. £70/ year for adults.
Hi Liam. When barbel fishing with 2 rods do you use anything to hold the rod butts down? I use bank sticks because pods just look heavy and cumbersome. Just a bit worried that the rod butts can fly up on a take.
@AlbertMiller-ul7ir No. Just sit next to the rods or leave the clutch looser or bait runner on using bank sticks. With the rods in the air, they shouldn't go airborne...
looks marvelous, do you need a permit there?
Stretch is part of the leeds dasa club
Drinking whilst fishing is utterly irresponsible.
hi liam did you drive or walk to pegs?
@smoggyangler Hi, drove through the field following the edge( about half a mile), was dry so driveable. Significant rain may make it risky but is a little too far to walk...
Is a loving place to fish it long time l have fish they
Nice fish, suprised you managed to see that tiny bite, lol, great video!
Thanks, the slow motion helped 😅
£15 for 3 rods. York lakeside lodges and brickyard fishery Ripon i believe are syndicate lakes.
Mate how much is it to use 3 rods, and do you no of any syndicates or clubs round that area
Hell of a lot of swims.
They should re name the top pond bell end 😂
Ding Dong.👍
Any 1 no what it’s been fishing like lately
Nice one 👍 never heard of that place is it day ticket or club water mate ?
Day ticket, pay on the bank. Two relatively small spring fed lakes but some nice looking fish in them.
@@outdoorssensible cheers Liam will have to have a look 👍
Quality video mate! Glad you had a few! We’re there next weekend, did you use solid bags on the cabin lake too? Heard everyone bait boats it out to the far margin☹️
About a rod and a half length off the far bank on solid bags seemed to be the best spot.Is a fair way off so tricky casting especially with the tree constraints (we were on cabin 9) so bait boat would be easier. Fish did show 3/4 across in the early evening and closer in including the margins in the morning.
Ibiza meets Yorkshire on a river bank....😎
I know it’s nice to catch but is there any big carp in there pal ? I’m going this weekend.which lakes the best?
How's it been fishing mate has there been many carp been coming out
Hi Liam, loved the video. I rode the Red Route last Summer, I coming back to do the Blue Route to The Fort soon and later into the Summer I'm hoping to come back and do the Red Route again with a Friend.. 👍 Keep Up the Cadence.. 😊
Thanks for the comments. Was a bit icey but the scenery is amazing up there! Good luck with the red route 👍👍
Wow mashallah good job 🥰🥰🥰
