Chasing Austin Western Railroad’s McNeil bound 111 job from Manor Yard to CapMetro McKalla Station.
The AWRR McNeil bound 111 rock train typically runs from Manor, TX, to Robinson Siding in McNeil, TX, Sunday through Thursday. Departing Manor on the AWRR East Subdivision around 8:00 PM, it reaches the Central Subdivision in Downtown Austin between 9:30PM to 10:00 PM.
On November 20, 2024, my friend and I chased this train from Manor all the way to McNeil. Though we had to stop for fuel and missed a couple of our planned spots to catch it, the experience was still incredible. Watching the train roll through the night was exhilarating, and seeing the ex-UP AWRR SD60M trailing made it even more special. Overall, it was an awesome chase!

The Austin Steam Train Association operates the “Hill Country Flyer,” a scenic passenger train running from Cedar Park to Burnet in the morning and back from Burnet to Cedar Park in the afternoon. Is there any reason why some of the engines are facing backwards
makes it easier once the engines get to the destination they can go back to the departure point without using a turntable the second loco becomes the lead on the return trip
