Ace of bass HT
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 27 ธ.ค. 2011
New home theater channel. My goal is to eventually review affordable home theater gear and help people in the hobby get great gear. I will also be becoming a HT equipment dealer. For now I will be doing videos and sharing information on products I own and have owed. Hopefully the great TH-cam home theater community can help me grow this into something good. I have been in the hobby for 15 years and have a big passion for home theater.

I build those monsters. Thanks for the shout-out.
I build that. Thanks for the shout-out. Enjoy.
Awesome set up man looking good . Brandon also calibrated my system . Great guy. Night and day difference....
@@bric7244 thank you 🙏 and yes Brandon does good work
hey ace woundering about a demo of ready player one video on those beast
Amazing movie 🎥 Its incredible with 4 21’s.
Hey Ace was wondering what app you was using to push these monsters and how manny watts ?? thanks for sharing the awsome video keep them coming
@@Ronstertv1 speaker power amps with a total of 14,000 watts
great system my friend but my favorite Spekaers for me is the end game Mk&Sound S300 LCR they sound perfect
We all like different things.
Great video, you using a miniDSP - Whats your take between the LFE and the advance buttkickers?
Yes using a mini dsp flex 8. I have not experienced lfe’s but the advance delivers more then enough tactile feel.
Nice setup.
Thanks!
Looks good bro - nice job
Thank you
great video, psa needs more videos out there.
Yes they do
Tom is a very stubborn narrow minded person so it makes it pretty much impossible to get reviewers working with PSA. A shame
@shaolin95 nahhh it's youtubers asking for ridiculous things while reviewing and tom is not for it. His customer service is top notch
PSA is amazing. I love their subs. I have two of them.
Psa is fantastic
I have two Dayton Audio. With a regular 100-watt x 2 amp. Love it. I only have them at 80 Hz.
Mine kick in at 55hz and below.
Awesome Video!!!
Thanks 🙏
Love the feel of the video. I look forward to checking out your others videos
Awesome, thank you!
Awesome, glad you added them. I have Earthquake Q10b and Crowsons on each seat. Like you said, I can't go back to watching without them!
100%
How do you like the Earthquake to the crowsons?
@@MrMr123 Truth, I prefer the Earthquakes with a Nearfield Sub. Crowsons are nice, but just don't seem to hit as hard. I'm about to add some steel plates to the bottom of them to see if I can get some more "performance" out of them. I've loved the Earthquake Q10b since the moment they were installed. I'd give up the Crowsons if I had to choose.

I love my 4 Aurosound bass shakers in my main setting position , I use 2 Dayton Audio SA100 100W Subwoofer Plate Amplifier for my shakers , I never will go back play a movie without my bass shakers, recenty Godzilla Minus One on Bluray, oh my gush ,oh my gush
They are a must have.
I have a Behringer class D power amp like that, and I did the fan mod with a Noctua fan. Insane difference. I never hear it. The one I have came with a plastic shroud to guide the air, but it was mounted the wrong way for the fan direction. I assume the fan was just the wrong way. So make sure to check the fan direction etc!
I swapped it for a crown amp lol.
Nice setup, where did you apply the low pass filter and delays, on your processor or do you have minidsp
I have mini dsp flex 8
insanely awesome!!!!! I love how the remotes were moving forward in sync with the Ready Player One race scene. Brian, you've built an incredibly powerful setup that offers the best of everything in home theater. You should be very proud of your setup, because it's epic level👍👍
Thank you 🙏 I appreciate. I definitely could not have done it without Gsg audio. Gag audio family for life!!!
Nice set up! I have an idea that you may not have considered, connecting 2 seats together with a steel or aluminum bracket and use 1 buttkicker for each pair. Seems like each BK provides enough output for 2 chairs. This would simplify the set up a bit and reduce the cost of connecting all 4 chairs.
Chairs are connected now. And you can feel the kickers on end seats at about half force. Im very happy with 2 honestly. My ocd just says buy 2 more lol. Please talk me down from the ledge.
@@briancopenhaver8095 LOL, I would never interfere with a man parting with his money on HT, Harleys, guns or guitars!
@@tomlarson1205 I like how you think 🤔 for me its ht and show cars and power tools ⚒️ lol.
mind doing an install video or short on how you mounted them?
I can work on something.
Yes! Every setup needs shakers/transducers! If you dont like them, you probably haven't heard them setup properly!
Exactly.
Glad the buttkicker advanced worked for you and probably a better choice over the full size buttkickers. I had full buttkicker lfe's but no matter how much delay I put on my subwoofers I could never get the buttkickers to blend in properly with my sealed subwoofers, I guess the amount of moving mass the buttkicker lfe's have, make them react a bit slower than their smaller models and sealed subs sound a bit quicker than ported. Plus it's not a good thing to add unecessary delay to your subs as that messes with mains to sub integration and also can make it seem like your subs are slow to react as compared to what your seeing on screen. I replaced the buttkickers with dayton bst-300ex's which are comparable to the buttkicker advances and didn't have to set any additional delays and they perfectly align with my subwoofers.
They definitely worked out perfectly.
The LFEs are beasts. You need to do "negative delay" approach with a minidsp
How do they blend in with nearfield subs? do they complement enough for your taste?
Did you watch the whole video?
You can’t isolate and of the subs in my room due to proper calibration.
@@briancopenhaver8095I see, i have been looking to get some bass shakers for awhile now and comparing specs, and the need for a 4 seat sofa vs individual chairs would be different i think.
@@briancopenhaver8095 I see now, I've been looking for shakers and comparing specs for a while.
Man I bet you could bring down the house with those giant subs
They are pretty intense.

Hi who calibrated your theater I have 9.2.4 and am looking for someone to help
Brandon Hill at Elevated theater calibrations.
looks great and probably sounds amazing. Can i ask what was your OTD pricing for the full assembly and ship? I'm heavily considering the 18s.
Email Kevin Sorkin at Gsg
First off, really enjoyed the video. You do great work! I don't see a comment about "Reference" just yet so I'll add my .2 cents in. Reference isn't an arbitrary number that's thrown around and can change depending on gear. Reference is 105db, c-weighted, from your at the main listening position when your volume knob is at -0db. Now, sometimes different gear can push different voltages, be more efficient, less efficient, etc... So, all "reference" volume means is 105db at the MLP when the volume knob of your processor/receiver/whatever is at -0db or "unity" depending on your audio background. There are many, many, many, ways to get there. Ideally, you don't let your trims go above -5db or -4db when level-matching your speakers so that you're building in headroom into your system. Now, you do a balancing act on setting your trims and input source volume (the input source volume will change per input because blu-rays send more signal, apple tv sends less, gaming consoles can vary, so start with your loudest source which should be the blu-ray player) so that when you put a movie on and listen to the loudest passages, you hit 105db c-weighted (with subs off). Then, rerun those passages again with subs on and make sure you're hitting 115db z-weighted (if you have the ability to. You can in REW.) but c-weighted will also work. Z-weighted measurements are equally sensitive from 20hz-20khz. C-weighting SPL actually starts dropping off at 63hz or so and will be 10db down at 16hz. So, best to use z-weighting when getting subwoofer levels properly set. If you get your system set like this, the SPL of your system will properly translate from what the director intended to your theater. Frequency response is a whole 'nother can of worms but at least your SPL will translate properly. I have found when when using REW and adding a bass-rising curve for my subs that follow equal-loudness contours seem to mostly agree that a rise of 8db from 80hz to 20hz tends to sound excellent and level in-room. So in my room, I found that if I level match my speakers to 76db (or whatever yours ends up being), my speakers cross to my subs at 76hz and then the subs SPL rises to 83db at 20hz. When taking a z-weighted measurement, this will end up playing at 123db at the MLP when given a 20hz signal. It doesn't sound bloated and it doesn't sound overbearing. It sounds flat. If you want to get really technical and have some fun with it, REW will actually let you send custom noise generation to your subs so that you can perfectly get it dialed in, i.e. 80hz-95hz, 65hz-80hz, and so on. This is important because it will let you perfectly dial in the SPL at the crossover point between your speakers are subs. Anyway, just some food for thought there in this last paragraph. YMMV
I had mine calibrated by a professional. I don’t know how to do all the stuff you mentioned.
Awesome setup!! I would consider PSA speakers if i had a dedicated home theater. Why did you choose ported over sealed? For your room size and then adding the 2 dual 18's you would still have an insane amount of bass with sealed and would probably have usable output at 5hz without any port chuffing.
I personally just like ported better for my taste.
I will just add if your getting distortion it may be lack of power if you had lower sensitivity of speakers running at reference would be tough for most AVRs. That may be some factor in distortion as speakers pull power, the AVR doesn’t push power, common misconception. If your speaker is asking for more and AVR can’t deliver that causes the distortion and can blow your speakers. I had a Yamaha 3050 running 7.2.4 and now I have my monolith 7x for bed layer and I definitely hear a difference above -15. I can go to 0 no problem with the svs ultra bookshelves and svs primes in the rear and it’s very clear. If I went above -10 with just my AVR I would get fatigue during a movie. Great video makes me want to try out the PSA.
I don’t get any distortion. I have a power amp running all the speakers.
I have almost the same setup that you have. A UST, and full 7ch psa setup with the 210's in front and 110's for sides/rears. I've only got a couple of diy18's at the moment, but replacing with 4 psa 18's in a few months. It's a huge step up from the klipsch (2x10 towers w/ horns all around) setup that I had before, even though they are the same size cone area wise. I totally agree with what you've said about the sound. It's super clear, projects into the room and just seems like they have endless volume. With other speakers, the sound seems to change at different volume levels, but these stay consistent and just get louder. Very immersive and explosive sound compared to a lot of others. You really get that movie theater experience that you can't get with standard speakers with dome tweets. Sure, they don't sound like a 100k 2ch setup, but they do sound great for music. For home theater, I don't think there's anything else at the price level that can compete
I agree 100%
Thanks for making the video, hard to find out good reviews on the PSA speakers. I’m thinking of moving from SVS ultras to PSA to try them out to see the difference of compression drivers. I have a smaller room as well but just for the hobby I’d like to try them out.
I previously had the ultras myself.
Do it PSA is endgame stuff
Thanks for sharing. I moved on from my PSAs except for my 110SRs. It's an example of where some speakers sound better than others in rooms and it's hard to explain. But they are good speakers. What are those subs? those look imposing.
Gag audio 21’s x4
Gsg audio 21’s x4
End up losing your hearing, playing too loud. Prefer comfortable listening levels myself, with a 5.1 system
I like my 7.4.4 setup and most of the time I listen at -25
At 6ft away from centre speaker I mainly listen at level 50 dB according to my sound meter
Being careful is always a good thing in any hobby. But "reference level" audio playback is safe. Most people that feel like "anything near reference is way too loud I dont know how people do it!"---usually have low sensitivity speakers that will strain and sound terrible as you turn them up(to loud levels). They will produce all sorts of nasty sounding distortion.
Congratulations! You make several good points! 1. First MTM-212s! Yes they are loud and sound great...I have 12ft ceilings so they fill the room being elevated 30in high. 2. MT-110s...Man! Now these are great for surrounds...And you're right, when you crank them to reference and even 10db hot they still ask for more... 3. I will use the same TV mount you're using when I add more 110s for height speakers. Thanks again! Great Review!
Thanks for watching.

Congratulations. It looks Beautiful. I will add 2 more of the same subs in the back of your room. I'll place them in the center on the back wall between your windows.
