I was coming here in 1963. They had brought in sand to build up the beach even before that. The sands are shifting and dredged. Nothings changed. That 2 foot wall of sand will level out in time.

Waikiki beach was a great world class beach until the so called sand repenishment 2012. Now, because of the broken coral and rocks you need reef shoes to walk on it. Also, the trucks packed it down as hard as concrete in some places. The sand has washed away near the hard pack causing 2 ft+ cliffs. The beach is ruined.

as much as people knock waikiki... Id rather be here than anywhere on the mainland! This is not LA in the Pacific!

those waves are like a sound track to many great memorys..... miss the island life.

Lovely video , and not a homeless person in sight ! Check out Waikiki now, especially in and around Kuhio Beach Park, after sunset or in the early evening and it's a much different story. A sad sight amidst all the affluence!
