How Does A Case IH 1245 Corn Planter Work?
Hi Scott Family Farms, my name is Roan. I'm a 34 year old South African seeking employment on farms in USA. I was wondering if you perhaps hire foreign workers under the H2A visa program? Any info would be much appreciated.
Hi Jordan, thanks for sharing both the good and hard times that farmer's deal with. It is great that you had the drone to fly above the fields to see what damage was done. I don't think that Drones have done more for any other industry than Farming and Ranching. I've seen ranchers use a drone to check for lost cattle on the large grazing permits. It is great that you have access to a drone that can help in so many ways. Hope that you had Crop Insurance to help pay for some of the losses. Farming is so difficult in that there are so many unknowns that farmers have no control over. I've seen farmers lose Grain Bins and barns due to Tornado damage. I saw a comment that you hoped to start videos again this growing season so hope to see some new videos. Thanks for the great videos and wish you and your family all the best.
Thank you! Yes, this wasn't a real fun video to make, but it shows the realities of farming and being at the mercy of mother nature. The drone has helped us in ways that we have never thought about. It really is a great tool, along with being a lot of fun to fly. Be on the lookout for some new videos 😉
Hi Jordan, interesting learn more about you and your family operation. Must say that was an interesting and creative Thumbnail photo. With most farmers being Republican it was different to see the photo of Bernie Sanders in the Thumbnail. With the tillage drone footage in the video do you leave the untilled area and then do a second pass of the field to allow for easier turning radius? It is interesting how accurate the GPS system is.
Hi Jordan, have to say your son was rocking the Fluorescent colored hat eating his breakfast. When I was young traveling on long trips with my family I was always asking, are we there yet?, so liked the Homer Simpson insert clip. Enjoyed the tillage tool Drone footage. What a beautifully smooth seed bed for planting. Best wishes as you enter another tillage and planting season in 2024.
It does a great job. Thanks!
Hi Jordan, when the Ukrainian farmers were at your farm in the summer of 2021 they probably had no idea what they were facing, with the war, at the beginning of 2022. It is amazing how, with this unstable world, how fast things can be turned upside down. Glad that they were able to see the technology available to farms in the USA. Enjoyed the drone footage from your hosting the get together at your farm. Everything looks clean and tidy. Can't imagine having to mow all of that grass during growing season. Best wishes for the 2024 crops.
Definitely changed quickly for them. We try to see others operations and host others here as well. Always a learning experience for everyone. I mow plenty haha.
Hi Jordan, a drone is so useful on a farm and I have to say that this is the first video I saw it used to hunt down Beaver Dams. It is amazing the energy a Beaver must use to haul all of the sticks and mud to create such a structure. This video really showed how massive and harmful they can be. Can't imagine that amount of practice it takes to operate those Backhoes being so far away with the long Boom. Glad that it helped you get rid of such a hazard fast and efficiently. On the last dam it was remarkable how much lower the waterline was. The camera angles were perfect to capture everything. Thanks Jordan.
We use whatever tools we have to be more efficient and productive! Thanks for watching!
Hi Jordan, enjoyed the drone footage, the story line and your appreciation for the owner of the land your family farms. Don't know if he would be willing to talk on camera but it would have been interesting to hear the history of his farm and some wisdom gained in his 96 years of life. There is so much to learn from the older generation that has experienced so much in their lives. The saying of experience is the best teacher is so true. Jordan, your videos are great so hope one day you can start making videos once again.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
As deep as that thing was it just carved its own path out of the mud Personally I want an old CH35
I was happy to get it out!
Hi Jordan, catching up on some of your older videos and really enjoyed this video of Drone footage from the 2022 Soybean and Corn harvest. I think that Drones have revolutionized video creation in farming in that you can capture so many interesting angles not possible to have without it. I thought you did a nice job of flying above the Combine, Grain Cart close enough to see all the moving parts of the machinery and operation. The footage of flying higher above the fields allows viewers to see the contour of the land and you can see the high and lower parts of the field. There was a nice combination of daylight and night footage as well. Thanks for all the hours consumed in putting this together with the music in one video. Best wishes as we enter the Spring season and the beginning of another growing season for 2024.
HI Jordan, I found your channel after watching your segment on the You Tube Channel "Hungry for Truth". Farming is a difficult job as there are so many variables that affect how successful your year will be. Sorry to see that you stopped creating your videos and hope all is well. Creating videos takes a lot of time to film and edit each video. The editing of the footage take a lot of time as well. Sorry that you never reached 1,000 subs to monetize the channel. I will subscribe incase you decide to make a second attempt to build your channel once again.
Thanks for the message! I may get back into it.
@@ScottFamilyFarmsSD Hi Jordan, thanks for this reply. Just once suggestion, if you decide to start again try to contact Cole Sonne who was also interviewed by "Hungry For Truth". Cole is a great guy and has large channel "Sonne Farms" and I'm sure he would be willing to give your channel a shoutout on his videos. Wishing you all the best in whatever decision you make.
What about the individual row gearboxes, bearings, seals, and shafts?
All of that was ok yet, and they didn't come with the kit we purchased.

@@ScottFamilyFarmsSD well we got hills here like crazy and that wears the track like crazy we had a could come of from turning on a hill with a grain cart
steel fuel tanks would fix it too
We were given the wrong tires. They were replaced.
@@ScottFamilyFarmsSD what tires did they replace them with? We tried to run a set of 1100/1000 lsws on our minimag they were just plain too big. the rears fit fine but we couldnt turn with the front. Ended up going to the 900/750 lsw optitracs.
@@gblonde2331 900/1000 I believe.
@@ScottFamilyFarmsSD What do you mean by the wrong tires? Is it still LSW1100/45R46 Optitrac?
you dug it too deep. had you stopped immediately you would drive it right out
You are correct!
Beutiful Red equipment
Thank you! We prefer the red too!!
What speed does it do best at?
We run about 9-9.5mph. Does a nice job at that speed.
What hp is needed to pull the 40ft terra?
380 minimum is what their website says. We use 525hp and it pulls really nice. At a more aggressive angle it will obviously pull harder.
What advantages have u found the 20” over 30” rows? Do u plant the beans on 20” also? Good vlogs👍
Thanks! We do both corn and beans on 20s. We have found that the canopy happens earlier helping with weed control and that the corn likes narrow rows. A small but real benefit is that a 12 row corn head can be roaded because it's only 20 feet! It's more of a machinery decision at this point but has some benefits. Thanks for watching!
oopsies
It happens!
good job!🤙
Thanks!
Very nice 👍
Kit definitely transforms your head. Farm I help added yetter devestators too. Really improves combine performance and residue breakdown without a chopping head saving tires too.
We are impressed so far!
Your gona love it. We did this to our new holland head.
Have been enjoying it so far!! It's a new head.
Big project!
It was. Took a solid week of work to get done.

The dam removals were quite satisfying to watch
It was satisfying to do too!
Well dam!
How often do you remove the dams? The beavers must bring that wood from a distance away from the creek?
Probably twice a year or whenever it becomes a problem. They will use corn stalks, weeds, small trees etc and anything they can find.
Unrelated, if you had this purchase to repeat, would you buy the terra max again❓
Definitely. Does a good job for us.
What was the disc depth ❓& angle setting for each disc F, R gang .❓🗽🇺🇸
About 3 inches deep, 4⁰ angle here. We now run it at 8⁰.
I like the new intro!
Thanks! I do too!
Nice video footage

Some creators do not ans comments from older videos. The disc mower is efficient, however if the forage is not baled it can kill the underlying growth. What is your experience🚜🚜🗽🗽❓❓
I answer all my comments! We bale most of what we cut. The prairie grass around here is pretty hardy and pushes through. If we and matted down it can cause issues though. Thanks for watching!
Fine presentation. Not sure why the sudden burst of curiosity about soybeans, but you made my morning!
Thank you! Happy you enjoyed it!
Is the seed bed (floor) even?
Absolutely if the machine is set up correctly.
