Star Trek: Deep Space Nine S5E23 "Blaze of Glory" Review
Marc Alaimo was great. The only crime with this episode is that Mr. Alaimo was not nominated for an Emmy. The growing conflict between Sisko and Dukat has reached the next level. Can't wait for what is next. This episode gets 93 self-sealing stem bolts.
Dang it Brent Spiner, you had ONE job when signing that autograph.
Hahaha
Yeah Strange New Worlds hasn't announced officially but rumor is like September or October of this year. Did you know Brent Spiner is from my area of Houston. You can tell this is not an original Bible, cause it has Janeway's name as Kathryn, originally it was going to be Elizabeth. Mike you will need to remember that DS9 and Voyager were running alongside, so the show started when the Maquis were still important on DS9. I have the Voyager production Tech Manual, it was never made for public use. Maybe I can scan it all in and send you a copy.
Hi guys, The Writer's Guide was purchased through QVC when they were selling Star Trek merchandise in the mid to late '90's. The Ethan Phillips autograph was gotten at a convention I was volunteering at. I sat with him that weekend. It was during Voyager's first season, so the photo selection was thin. He signed several for me. I got for my nephews and for our fan club to sell at our table for our charity "Dream Come True" in the Lehigh Valley. Enjoy!
Wow! The Star Trek on QVC days were so cool. I remember that time well. I also got the Voyager bible. I think that was the same QVC special where they sold the working communicator. It was made of real metal and looked great. I wore mine out very quickly. 😆
You know it. I liked the cast member they had on each episode.
By the way, the episode of whom God‘s destroyed, there’s an Orion animal girl 🙄 also featured in the episode
I give this episode 89 self-sealing stembolts. It's a great character focus for Dukat. He's always been a foil for Sisko but I love how obsessed he is with not being celebrated the way that Sisko is. It really speaks to how much Dukat actually respects Sisko, maybe more than anyone else because, in his mind, they are equals. But, there are definitely areas where things could have been improved. I think Sisko should have just been fixing the transmitter from the start to get it working while Dukat distracts him. It would have seemed less silly to have such a poorly built piece of tech being so important to the narrative. I also think they missed a beat by not using Jake in this episode. He could have provided a stronger B-story. Heck, he could have talked his way onto the Defiant with the others and been very useful. This episode also features one of my favorite Nana Visitor performances ever. She's not in it much but I loved watching her play Dukat's version of Kira. It makes his attempts to flirt with her even more unsettling because clearly he knows she's not into him! Lastly, my Golden Girls email is on the way. I loved that show! - DC
Hey guys. (Nice hair Mike!) Another absolute powerhouse showing from two of the best actors on this show. Heavy Duet vibes in this episode. Many people describe this episode as character assassination of Dukat. I am *not* in that camp. Charming villains make you like them so they can get away with their villainy, nit because they are secretly misunderstood good guys. This is the Dukat we've had all along. This is a broken narcissist. His entire self image is based on what others think of him and when he broke, that image broke in his mond. And now, he's dangerous. He is not above burning every bridge on his way to burn down Bajor and as someone who's been a victim of this exact type of megalomaniac, i enjoyed his meltdown greatly. But make no mistake, he is far more dangerous now and i cannot wait to watch going forward. 90 Imaginary Weyouns holding stem bolts.
Orville is amazing, and they are supposed to be getting another season soon. Seth McFarland has actually been in Star Trek. I will agree that Voyager is not my favorite theme music. The Theme for Picard series was way worse. Wasn't there like some FCC laws about the volume of shows and commercials back in the 90s? I mostly enjoyed Wicked. I was underwhelmed by Grande's 2 hour long impression of Kristin Chenoweth. I'm down with Golden Girls watch along, I don't know that I have watched every episode. So you read the comment about a Ferengi version of the A-Team, and I was like the F-Team? which reminded me of F-troop, which would be this whole fantastic combination of ideas, And I love it. Not spoilery, but we do go back to Empok Nor next season and they never mention finding his body. Except Ray Waltson wasn't in Paradise Lost either, LMAO, should I make a poster of every episode of Star Trek in chronological order? I feel like one day we should do "a very special episode" and lets get together and discuss the who should act as what character thing, cause while I appreciate y'alls perspectives, and your right about a good amount, I think there are some unseen harms there in, that need more discussion than can be had in this short form back and forth. Frasier was a great character on cheers, he has slowly gotten worse over the decades. Sailing with a candle in the sea, Mike you are such a mess, and that's what makes this podcast so great. This episode makes me grateful that seasons 1s Duet was a Kira episode, cause I joke that Avery wanted his own Duet, and finally got it, but most shows would have put their big star drama episode in the first season, and we have to wait 5 seasons to get this, but it was needed to develop both Sisko and his dueling partner in this Dukat. Honshu is the name of a Japanese Island, not sure that was special for any reason. Keith you keep calling the Honshu little, it has more internal volume than the Enterprise D, and that thing on top is a weapons' pod bigger than the Defiant. Keith asking who would you be imagining in this scenario, I was like NO not this podcast thats danger territory lol I also think Dukat (part of saving sisko) wants for Sisko to acknowledge that he is better. it's something hes starved for, if I were to read into it, I might suspect that for Dukat, Sisko reminds him of his father, and that is why Dukat wants that acknowledgment so bad. Mike I think you are coming down a bit hard on the arm restraint/ cast, cause while they never address it in episode, I have always head cannoned it that siskos arm wasn't broken, Dukat just put that restraint on there to prevent Sisko from moving around much, but I will agree that the thing with the signal was to convenient, it was necessary for the story, but the execution was to easy. During the watch along you mentioned misery and I think that's sort of the thing about this episode, Like the writer in misery he does have to wait it out and figure out what to do long term. The gig is up: Means that an engagement has ended or a secret plan has been discovered The jig is up: Means that a scoundrel has been found out and the law is on their way "Jig" and "gig" are homographs, meaning they have multiple meanings. "Jig" can refer to a type of dance, a song, a fishing lure, or a tool for making jigsaw puzzles. "Gig" can refer to temporary remunerative work. So Keith used Gig here correctly. Although in a way both kind of apply. Love the dramatic reading, we need these more often. Well now we gotta mark this episode for when we get to the end. LOL well in the end it makes sense why Ben is there, but we can't discuss that yet lol This is an easy A it's a solid 94 SSSBs for me. Mike you wanna record something with me while my printer is running in the background? LOL
"...take that pen, and either..." hmmm
Also, I have always heard gig as a hard G. I dunno if that holds up crossing borders?
Super intense episode getting into the mind of Dukat. By far, one of Trek's greatest villains. Great watching two incredible actors do their thing at the top of their game! I give it an 89 SSSB. Oh and for Golden Girls, you want 5 emails....do Teddy and I count as two already? haha C'mon it would be so light-hearted and fun in this time of dark were heading into! ~Joshua Cronan
I’m amazed that Mike is not a fan of “Frasier!” The secret sauce of that show is Niles who steals every scene he’s in. Anyway, the jig is up, the gig is not. This DS9 episode is well-acted but I’m just not super keen to watch kind of a joyless episode that’s devoted almost entirely to Dukat. I award it 66 stem bolts. PS - you guys should act out more scenes from the scripts like you did here - that was great! 🖖🏼
I like at the intro you both wanted to be Dukat. I can imagine most actors want be Dukat. I There were 180 episodes of Golden Girls. Do you really want to watch all of them? Maybe you can cherry pick the top five or the top ten episodes. Robert Picardo was on the episode called "the Operation". I'm on board for that one, but I don't care about the other 179. I don't know how, but nearly every Millennial (myself included) has picked up adding gratuitous "likes" to their speech. I try to suppress it with mixed results. I normally like rational villains more than I like scene chewing villains but a very phenomenal actor can pull it off. Great villain speech the whole way through but "They thought I was their enemy? They don't know what it is to be my enemy, but they will. From this day forward, Bajor is dead. All of Bajor. And this time, even their Emissary won't be able to save them." And course I really liked the scene chewing of Fake Weyoun and Fake Kira. Fake Damar was almost 100% in line with real Damar. Damar is always the straight man. If my insecurities embodied themselves in people from my past, I have no idea what form they would take... Dukat respects Sisko because in Dukat's mind, Dukat cannot be defeated by a normal person. The writing for Dukat is not always consistent in DS9 but his guiding principle remains the same: "A true victory is to make your enemy see they were wrong to oppose you in the first place. To force them to acknowledge your greatness." Given how batshit crazy Dukat is in the this episode, it's good that Sisko checked to make sure Dukat was intentionally lying. It was possible he didn't know. Very Starfleet to get all the facts before making a plan. "Duet" is one of the best episodes of DS9. It's almost unfair to compare this episode to that one. Good call with the name. In this case, very few people call Captain Capitan Sisko "Benjamin" so it's a big deal when Dukat does it. Pretty much only Jadzia, Joseph Sisko, and Kassidy Yates call him by his first name. Even Kira doesn't call him by his first name much and they are practical brother and sister. Dukat calling him "Benjamin" is a sort of forced intimacy that is very par for the course for his character. When you read lines at 1:20:00, if I was the casting director, I'd switch you guys. I think Keith would make a better Sisko and Mike a better Dukat. Keith's villainous reads always go a little too Voldomort, but I think Keith can pull off the righteous anger that Sisko embodies so well. Or Mike can do both. He really came alive at 1:24:00. Sorry Keith, I think Mike has better acting range than you. Though Keith has other skills. 1:27:20 I really laughed. A great moment in therapy where you have break through on how to be a more effective villain. Maybe therapy isn't for everyone. "I was letting my pride get in the way of me being a better monster! Why oppress people when I can kill them!" We don't want a malevolent politician that just wants to burn things down. Gavin Newsom for President 2028! I give this episode 92 out of 100 scene chewing stem bolts. On a critical rewatch, I think the parts of this episode I don't like are the scenes of the rescue party. Especially, the part with "Oh, we rescued YOU? You're not Sisko!" I think this episode should have basically been 100% Sisko and Dukat with no filler. EDIT: I wrote that part BEFORE Keith said basically that same thing at the end of this video. We tend to agree more than we disagree. There are many good analysis videos on TH-cam covering Gul Dukat's character arc over the series. Keith should check them out, but they are too spoilerific for Mike.
Nana Visitor's LOL in Dukat's crazy mind was great. Seth McFarlaine actually tried to be a producer for trek but turned down. A joke fans made was how depressing it must've been to be the Honshu? other survivors, beaming onto the Defiant and instead of YAY you're Saved, let us Help! it's transport medical peep >Frowning< "DAMN it's not SISKO, keep looking- you move out to the infirmary"
Did you know that when they were casting the show Will and Grace, they passed over a homosexual actor in favor of a straight actor for Will because the homosexual actor "was not gay enough". That's either laughable or sad, but the show Will and Grace normalized gays in popular media in the dark ages of the 1990s. The fact that the casting wasn't "representative" didn't matter. I don't remember the name of it but they were going to Scarlet Johansson to play a trans person, but there was an outcry that she shouldn't play that role. So she opted out and they put in a trans actor and no one watched the movie. If Scarlett Johansson was in the movie, people have would have watched it just because it was Scarlet Johansson. That hurt the cause of normalizing trans characters in media. Gone With the Wind is a relic of a "problematic" era and there have been attempts to sweep it under the rug because it doesn't reflect modern values. But Hattie McDaniel was the first black woman to win an Oscar and she won it on that movie. Her living descendants were NOT happy that her legacy was swept under the rug in order to combat racism. All too often, fighting hypothetical or abstract "isms" hurts real people. Digression from Star Trek
I assumed Nog is sharing quarters with Rom and Leeta at this point, so he didn't "break in" exactly, he just snuck into his stepmom's room. Breaking in would have been illegal and he probably wouldn't have gone for that, seeing how seriously he takes his status as a Star Fleet cadet.
"Captive Pursuit" is the first DS9 episode that made me cry (final goodbye between O'Brien and Tosk kept getting me). The Trivial Trivia runs DEEP on this episode's most prominent guest stars, so here goes: - This was one of Scott MacDonald's (Tosk) first TV gigs. As pointed out below, he appears throughout the Star Trek universe as other characters in TNG, Voyager, and Enterprise. - MacDonald was also on two episodes of The Practice as Detective Disaia ("Inter Arma Silent Leges" and "This Pud's For You"). So, roll "Unnecessary The Practice Reference" bumper? - Both MacDonald and Gerrit Graham (The Hunter) have exceptional horror cred. The former plays the title role in the Jack Frost series, while the latter plays the title role in CHUD II: Bud The Chud and is also known for appearances in horror films including Phantom of the Paradise, Child's Play II, and Chopping Mall. - Graham appears as a different character in a notable episode of Voyager, and he was in very close consideration to play Odo before Rene Auberjonois was cast. - @mikeyi99, not sure where you are in your Tales From The Crypt rewatch, but Graham is in the pilot episode as one of William Sadler's victims!
We ABSOLUTELY need a "Unnecessary The Practice" reference bumper! Tagged with some classic Bobby McRambo. PS those are some terrific classic horror references... :)
@KeithandMike Ah, Bobby McRambo is a classic for sure! I was always partial to "We're Not Supposed To Notice" myself. 😀
I'm sorry I just have to comment a little bit off exact topic STAR TREK VOYAGER INTRO WAS THE LONGEST AND MOST ANNOYING INTRO IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION (Until the walking Dead came along that is - ugg- that intro, loud and annoying as I'll get out)
I remember getting this and the Enterprise-E for my birthday the year they came out. KB Toys at the local Mall
I have both versions of the playmates Enterprise E, the second one is more screen accurate, the first contact one was based on concept sketches and ended up all wrong. I swear you could play battery boogie in a club and no one would think anything was off. Yeah I think the original was $12 in 93 the FC one in 96 was $15 and the Insurrection one in 98 was about $18 Mike get you a porch box, it's made things so much better for our deliveries.
They missed out on a million dollar idea back in the day and should have made them universal tv remote control.
not enough buttons for a tv remote control though....
they did make a phaser tv remote
Those battery beats were indeed so sick.
The sickest
You scared me with the batteries. I thought I would have to jump in the DeLorean and take it back to KBs.
Haha never to worry! I have a comical amount of batteries...
Anyway, repost of my original stuff minus the external link which offendeth the TH-cam censorbots. 95/100 self strips of gold pressed latinum. In theory one should not tug on the loose plot threads of a comedy action story too much but tugging on plot threads is what I do. I don't remember if it was Keith or Mike who suggested the Dominion accidentally fell into an opportunity to grab Ishka rather than sought one out. That makes sense. It can't be easy to attack a ship near planet Vulcan so they probably got her in or near Ferengi space. We don't know how big the Ferengi Alliance is. They could have five planets or 5000 planets. In the Alpha Quadrant, the Ferengi control a smaller territory than the Federation, Romulans, Klingons, Cardasssians, Breen, and Zenkethi but they control more territory than Bajor and all the other mono-planet groups. I assume as war allies, the Ferengi would be lousy fighters, but they would be able to help the Federation or the Dominion with logistics and intelligence gathering. It seems a little extreme that Zek would ally with the Dominion simply to get Ishka back but I think the Dominion might be able to use Ishka as a hostage to force Zek to remain neutral. Another loose plot thread I'd like to tug on is why Zek asked Quark to save her. Does Zek have lots of faith in Quark's skills or does Zek view Quark as an low of chance of success minion that is highly expendable? Neither explanation would surprise me. We never see Zek in this episode presumably because Wallace Shawn is probably too expensive to use lightly. This is the only time in all of DS9 where we ever see Nog and Ishka in the same scene. That scene was extremely hilarious. I would like to see them in a serious scene. i assume they would get along because Ishka loves Rom and Quark and Nog embodies the best traits of both. Still I'd like to know how they get along as grandmother and grandson and I'd like to know how their relationships compares to the "normal" ferengi grandmother dynamic. This is also the only time in all of DS9 we ever see two Vorta in one scene and they don't really interact with each other because one of them is a walking corpse. Since the Vorta all have very different personalities and methods, it would be very interesting to see how they work together. I imagine frienenemies would be common. In Star Trek Online, we see a lot of Vorta bicker with each other but in that case, the Founders themselves are politely disagreeing with each other and their personal Vorta attendants are espousing "their" Founder's views more aggressively. I assume DS9 never gives us a group of Vorta because this would tax their guest star and costume budget. They also mention scientist and engineer Vortas visiting Bajor when the Dominion controlled DS9 and we hear about them working at Dominion research facilities but we never see them on screen. We only see the diplomats. Just like I wish we would see more female Vorta I wish would see Vorta with different skill. I guess I just want more Vorta. They might be my favorite villain race.
I finally finished entire DS9. While i hated the pilot and most of the first season, then it became a lot better, and i absolutely loved it from mid season2 or season3. Also, in this episode, i loved the little joke with them dropping out of the crawlspace in Sisko's office. Oh, and Iggy Pop, obviously. He was an excellent Vorta. My second favourite one, right after Jeffrey Combs, who absolutely ACED playing Weyouns. What annoyed me the entire series though - why the hell did they call service crawlspaces leading through Cardassian station "Jeffries tubes"? Aren't Jeffries tubes specific service conduits leading through Federation ships? Not just a generic crawltunnel?🙂

I had a long comment talking a bout a wide variety of things. It was deleted...again. What am I doing that isn't allowed? I went into expanded lore on different "empires" in Star Trek. The Ferengi Alliance is the smallest empire, but they aren't just one planet. I speculated on what they could or could not do to sway the Dominion War. Was that boring or spoilerish? Was it a spoiler to say how many different Vorta we will eventually see? I made a comment about how the only seen we ever get with Nog and Ishka is in this episode. Is that a forbidden spoiler? I posted a link to an external site with a funny meme made about this episode. With regards to Squid Games, I disagreed with Keith's statement that a CIS person should not play a transperson in a TV show since actors by definition pretend to be someone they are not. I believe this applies to everything. You don't need to be ______ to play a ______ if you are a good enough actor. In all of Star Trek, not one Bolian is played by a Bolian actor. I had fun speculating about what the Dominion was planning to leverage Zek to do and if Zek had a Plan B if Quark couldn't rescue her. Admittedly that ran long.
Once again, I assure you we aren’t deleting any comments. At least, I’m not. Maybe when the comments are long (which we appreciate) send a copy to our email too in the even the YT overlords remove it or whatever. That way, at least it gets read the following week. Sorry friend- we always appreciate your comments!
Definitely not us… it’s youtube for sure. I would imagine it doesn’t like links that take you off of TH-cam?
@@KeithandMike That makes sense that external links outside of TH-cam are what get things deleted because I get longwinded I like to includes links. Just for an experiment, I'll send a short reply with just a link and one sentence of text.
It IS the non-TH-cam links that are getting my comments deleted. Just put "Ferengi and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" into a internet search engine and you will find memes using screen caps from this episode
I love the concept that this episode was an action movie spoof along with being a real auctioner. My laugh out loud moments were Rom’s variation on “oh” and Keevan’s complete deadpan deadman walking. I give it 85 SSSBs. Also, I always enjoy the conversations that reflect modern-day parallels for Star Trek stories. I know that great Trek can be timeless in the lesson it wants to impart, but the deep discussion Keith and Mike have with and as part of viewer comments is often thought-provoking and always entertaining. Thanks guys for that, and thanks to all the commenters who help spur those conversations.
earned a sub enjoyed it
Appreciate it!
The Gaila/Quark history has always confused me and this episode didn't do much to flesh it out more.
15:57 Actually, in this case, it's like the "DS9" of 3D printing.
Fun (?) fact: Hana Hatae, the child actress who played Molly O'Brien, had a notable TV appearance as an adult in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares, where she asked Gordon Ramsay to help her parents' restaurant. She also played a different character, Ensign Riley, in the Star Trek fanfiction project Renegades.
Jaime has entered the s01 Time Machine!😊
@mikeyi99 Oh, I will be dropping breadcrumbs for you on my completist journey. 😊
HOLY CRAP. I'm obsessed with Kitchen Nightmares too... and didn't know that! Though, now that you remind me, I remember exactly who she is and which episode. I just never knew it was grown up Molly! That's the best piece of Trivial Trivia I've gotten in years :)
@@KeithandMike Always happy to oblige with the trivia! Any time I come across that KN episode online, it's always half Star Trek fans commenting, "Look, Molly grew up!" and... half people saying, "The owner's daughter is hot. She should be an actress." 🤣
This episode has always been one of my favorites, but I enjoy it even more after listening to Armin Shimerman on the Delta Flyers...I feel like they let Quark be more like Armin, and more like Armin's vision of the Ferengi, in this one, and that's part of what makes it work so well. I'm also guessing that this is one of the episodes the Ferengi actors rehearsed (focusing on timing and blocking) at Armin and Kitty's house the weekend before they shot the episode. I think it's so cool that they did that. I'll admit that thinking about them leaving a decomposing Kevan running into that wall grosses me out more than it makes me laugh. [Shudder.] 93 stem bolts sounds good to me!
I like to think that Vorta decompose verrrrrry slowly. Oh way… maybe that’s more gross.
@@mikeyi99 So much more gross!
First off, Teddy and I (Tren collectively) fully support a watch/review of Golden Girls. OMG, he screamed, its his favorite show and we often have it on in background while doing stuff around the house. Would be fun seeing Keith's response to things. They are so sassy and good. Speaking of sassy and good the episode Magnificent Ferengi is a piece of art! I love it. I love Ferengi episodes, they always make me think....especially when they are supposed to be hilarious. 87 sssb for me! ~Joshua Cronan
😉
I would have made it like the older figures , new characters in that style? and older characters & aliens we never got, a new transporter playset ect ect
Vorta aren't evolved from lizards but Mike will get to it in a few episodes or next season. Why did they leave dead Kevan. As a Iggy Pop fan from then I recognized him as a singer forgetting his name til the end credits.
I love how you put that Mike, you married the best person you found. Thats awesome. Id love to see a clip of Jenn in Fiddler. we are all kids in overgrown suits trying to figure out whats going on. lol old musicals like south pacific were my fav when i was a kid, but now most of them are ruined by either misogyny or racism or homophobia and it kills me. Will Brian let me be the ring bearer at this weeding that Mike officiates, so he and I can mess with everyone. Damnit Keith just triggered me, THANOS WAS WRONG, if he could snap half the people in the universe away, he could have doubled the amount of resources in the universe, he could have redistributed the resources in a more balanced manor, there was never a reason to kill ANYONE, the problem was that hurt people hurt people, and because his planet F'd up and got millions killed, he blamed the whole universe, and decided to take out his pain on every other person. Thanos was not right. Gebuz, Keith, Earth is not over populated, multiple studies have proved that little bit of misinformation as demonstrably false, we are dealing with an resource allocation problem, that the oligarchs don't want to address, because perpetuating the over population myth makes them more money. It's not logically true. Keith your microphone is just like the rest of us, a little unstable. well the Texans are in the playoffs as well, which means I get to hear my dad yelling a lot. I am so tempted to clip Mike yelling DEEP SPACE AMERICA and use that as a ring tone. It's not hard to get hit by a car that drives through the house. Mike inner gay man came flying forward, when Keith said he'd only seen 10 episodes of golden girls. SO Sorry, Ace as in asexual, Patrick was asexual. dear god, that went badly. By the time Jenn gets back Mike is gonna be full blown bisexual. There's no gardener in past tense, did you mean guard? okay you got it all mixed up, Grady was the homeless dude played by Clint Howard, the one that stole the combadge, but then bashier talked him into helping them. And while we see Clint Howard again, we never saw Grady again. Ray Walston played Boothby the gardener in the TNG and Voy episodes. lol Want your mind blown, look up JD Dillard on IMDB so I pause you, went over and watched the scene and Siskos mouth moved, so you AI must have been bad, which... it wasn't smoke that made the cardassians crazy it was gel, OMG, your doing it on purpose... Dude no one could tell that was Mic Fleetwood, not even Troi. I do love this episode, it's not the best DS9 episode, but it's the funniest episode. 86 SSSBs from me. Keith wants Spam. Mike needs to stop having so many strokes.
Mike going to google and finding ACES instead of ace/aro had me singing "Noooo!" like Rom 😂. Oh google, how you lead us all astray sometimes.
@@anneofmystery it's my first experience of first hand second hand embarrassment.
Hey guys. Glad to see y'all feeling better this week. This is the best comedy episode in all of Trek. And even though it's a stand alone episode it *still* rewards you for being a long time viewer. Engineer Rom, Federation Nog, Cousin Gaila, Keevan, Brunt, Moooooogie, Empok Nor all of it is taken from the years of world building to get to this episode. And Yelgrin. God i wish we had more of him on screen. Iggy Pop was fantastic. I feel ya on your liking of Yelgrin there Mike. And the fantastically dark take of Keevan forever a walking corpse bumping into the wall over and over. Beautiful. This is a 95 Moogie Saving Stem Bolts. I would gladly watch a Ferengi sitcom modeled after the A-Team.
1990s Star Trek and Comedy didn’t often go together very well, but they sure did in this one. 91 bolts! 🖖🏼
Yay!! Welcome back, Jason!
I've finally caught up! I've been doing the watchalongs since I became a Patron and I'm now up to speed with you guys. What a great episode to finally be able to comment on! I give this 90 self-sealing stem bolts. It's my favorite Ferengi episode as well. So many funny beats, but it also feels so well-earned, not just with the Ferengi guest stars and the callbacks but just the general evolution of Quark, Rom & Nog. Seeing them get to take center stage together at this point in the series was really great. - DC
I spent weeks playing catch up after I discovered these guys.
@@woogha awwww shucks
I love this episode. I laughed a lot. 97 self-sealing stem bolts. Keith, Ray Walston played the grounds keeper Boothby. This character wasn't in Past Tense.
You guys are so dense with getting the point of this episode. I looked specifically many times to find this episode BTW - probably seen this series, TNG, and Voyager at least four times since 2011. This is the episode one episode that people all over the world can truly learn something for today, and helped them through the last 5 years. Human stories in general always taught a lesson, especially all tv, movies through 2000. Today they only tell stories without lessons and helpfulness. Hollywood had to sell what the people would buy, the studios no longer care about that today. They make the worst stuff and it's all fluff. Now the point: The people of the village is where the power comes from that ends up defeating the monster. It is the people who will defeat the evil-doers today and they are gradually gaining their way into winning their way back to a sensible way of life where people can have their, "Come out, come out wherever you are.." - Glinda the Good Witch, The Wizard of Oz - moment and no longer fear the uncertainty of their future as they defeat the authorities trying to take more freedoms away. Some people benefit from meditation and partaking in 420 and still ponder ideas. Our roots and history of who we are before the hustle bustle are making their way back. Veggies and Herbs are medicine. Meat is food. Everything else is garbage. The revolution will not be broadcasted, rather, the people are taking action. Be good, be happy and I wish everyone the best, we all deserve better than what we have today! I honestly believe the big war in DS9 is a foreshadowing of what is happening here. I know the snarky types would say - we aren't in Space, how could whats going on on Earth today be like DS9's war? That would take so long for me to explain, but there are so many parallels.
I too have the Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out passcode memorized. 🥊
This is the way 🎉
