British Army Mk6 Combat Helmet - Public Order Conversion (Northern Ireland)
Hello, I am looking for some trophies, could you help me
Still have mine. 97 to 07..
Not the originals of course 😉, as you have to hand those back in
Misplaced... Lol
Nice combat kit! I have the same type of the kit used by the brits and I got myself a pair of Revision desert tan ballistic goggles. Instead of the webbing system, I have the waist coat with all the pouches
I have the waistcoat...can't remember if I reviewed it yet or not
Tryna set my nato issue up now ,osprey 4 civilian armour
Is that the blue one? I think they call it the MK3a. I have seen at least one in military use...these videos should help with the build.
Hey man, I know a long while ago you've done some videos on the CQC MKIV Osprey, but if you could do new videos, just giving general info, and maybe showing the vest in a lot more depth than is available elsewhere? It'd be hugely appreciated :)
I believe the patch is for 27th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade. Wikipedia entry has Brigade emblem which looks very similar, take a look. Name "Sevastopolskaya" is historical, the unit participated in taking of the Sevastopol from Germans in 1944. Soviets loved adding strange things to unit names.
was the owner saved or did he perish? i dont know if you can confirm. i hope he is well and healing
I believe he was injured by shrapnel; received basic medical treatment so he could continue fighting; ended up surrendering.
heard this was disliked during troop trials but they went with it anyway. should've got with TYR's stuff like the Danish army did
It's still very much disliked. The fact that the design was 15 years old when it was released just goes to show why water bottle companies should stick to making drinking bottles
@@Iwasthemilkman haha well said
Sorry for disturbing i wanted an helmet but i have a dilemma Restoring to use it as a reenactor So for me the tickness of the helmet matters; like it has to feel real not like a plastic helmet Online original helmets are available but they are covered in rust.. would you say that its better to leave them? And buy a replica? Like removing rust will make the helmet lighter and weaker.. Maybe its just better to use a replica and leave the original helmet on the shelf? Or restoring only when the metal of the helmet is almost intact?
You can find either reconditioned originals or high quality replicas out there. I'd suggest contacting a reenactment group on social media and see what they suggest. If you're lucky, you might find a denazified helmet that you can add transfers too. Warhats.com
Great videos, perfect for uniform and equipment's research!
Glad it was helpful!
Did helmet nets see any use un Korea?
Yes. I've seen pictures of helmets in Korea with Hessian (sandbag) covers with apparent hand tied nets
Plastique?😳 Rubba! Jman
This weapon had to be fired from the right shoulder and, because of this, the sling was fitted to the left side . Why are you fitting it on the right and why has nobody else noticed this??
The sling is being fitted on the left side to avoid lying the weapon down on it's charging handle; this also allows it to lie completely flat. It has been noticed and mentioned before.
@@Iwasthemilkman Then find a way, I have to. You've fitted it incorrectly. Who's to blame if it's fitted the way you've shown? Also, the correct term is 'cocking' handle.
Hey just so you know your videos really help people interested in osprey kit in England I hope you keep it up.
The utility strap that runs through the bottom loops of the pouches, how is it fastened at each end ?,my sons bought a set of PLCE for cadets but his doesn’t have that strap .
There should be a simple ladder buckle at one end. I ran the utility strap through the loops against the pouches and folded the strap over the last loop and ran it back through... I'll see if I can do a video on how to build the webbing after work tomorrow. I know it's not MTP, but as long as it's PLCE and not Virtus; it should all be the same.
@@Iwasthemilkman Oh,I see, thanks .Yes,that would be great ,it looks like u can pick up the utility straps online so I’ll get one for my lads webbing .
@@GC-wj6ni just uploading the video now, should be live within the hour

Blast from the past seeing this vid , got a warm fussy feeling remembering my webbing lol , good vid mate 👍
if you get any more russian helmet can you sent me one please
So...Who decided and why did they decide to put left handed sling mounts on a right hand only rifle?
there were some, though very rare, left handed receivers. Though, funnily enough, the sling points are ambidextrous
Just snagged one of American Pipedream for $120 with a bunch of the pouches, thanks for the vid!
Hey same!
Where would one go about finding a uniform like this ?
I believe that, as of 2010, the uniform itself has been illegal to buy. Thanks to a lawsuit between the MOD and Disney
"I" on the cover is the size helmet it's meant for. Your helmet is marked as a size "II," so while bigger, it did fit. Size III is the largest
Ah, I wondered why it said II size 55-57. Thank you.
Yeah, never understood why the Ruskies use the "Size Category" as well or why some 6B47a have a specific size while others have a range.
@@jamalwilburn228 it'd be interesting to find out what caused the damage, probably won't happen with the wearer's...'early retirement'

You're welcome
i couldnt have been more entertained, love your content 👍
YOU are boring!!!11
I have a similar age McCord. 211C. It has war time OD 7 straps, and the Fixed bales were replaced during the war. So I want to keep it as is. Otherwise I'd love to put fix bales back on and od3 straps.
Also mk6 was in trials in the early 80s but wasn't fully adopted until about 85-86.
The unit patch on the left arm says "Sevestaposkaya" its just the adjective version of "Sevestapol" in feminine gender adjective. Maybe meaning sevestapolskaya mosrkaya pohotoa. (Sevestapol marines). Not some abbervieation. And the chaps name is Grachev. Otherwise interesting stuff to see mate
Thank you on clearing those up...it can be quite difficult translating letter to letter 😆
Unfortunately, i believe you've been 'scammed' more or less. While private purchase PASGT's do exist in the Russian forces (though, very very few), this being made in August 2022 means it'll be VERY unlikely this got into the conflict through Russia. Due to sanctions, there is no way military equipment like this could be sent to Russia from Greece. What i have seen happen (and seen a lot), is Ukrainian soldiers selling their own gear (both advertised correctly and as Russian stuff) to earn a profit since getting new gear for them usually costs less than what they ask for their stuff. This isn't a definitive 'yup, that's fake' message, rather just a message to let you know my thoughts as i have major suspicions regarding this helmet. Ofcourse, knowing who you bought it from also helps.
I agree. The markings look very fresh. Ukraine is and has been a hot spot for fake WW2 items. People refused to deal with Eastenrn Europe. Now we're assuming they stopped scamming because war changed thirty morals.
Thank you for your comment. I am definitely in agreement that, with sanctions and other issues, that it is very unlikely that this would be a 22 production helmet from outside of Russia being used in the war. I also agree that, within militaria collecting, a lot of the time; identifing between genuine and fake is based off of opinion. This particular helmet comes directly from a Ukrainian volunteer, I have no reason to doubt the authenticity of the item. But I do agree that you have a point and I appreciate your comment.
@@Iwasthemilkman I understand that, but how did this volunteer get it? I don't doubt that it came from Ukraine, only the part that states it was taken from a Russian.
The second cap (ttsko) could be a fake due to the fact that Ukraine was still using this pattern up until the early 2000s and there is no point for a Russian soldier to be using a cap from the 90s when there are plenty of Chinese copies and original modern Russian caps widely available.
Yeah...to be honest; when it comes to authenticating Russian equipment from this conflict, a LOT will be based on opinion.
2 MSR not 2 MCP, inside the helmet the letter in Russian "DOTS"
I'm guessing MSR is the translation of MCP...
How much does it cost online?! Where can I find a legit one online?!
This one cost me around £230, I got it from a member of the Ukrainian International Legion. You can buy a lot on eBay from Ukraine itself...the problem with saying it's 'legit' is that the Russian army itself is actually issuing Chinese made Airsoft replicas, soldiers are having to buy their own equipment and a lot of ex-soviet/early Russian Federation stuff is being used. Like most 'historical militaria'; it's going to be a mix of personal opinion and provenance...the 6b45 I have has a bullet hole and shrapnel damage; along with graffiti.
@@IwasthemilkmanHi, 2 things: the "chinese airsoft" thing is a myth, propaganda against Russia pretty much. and eBay i'd highly avoid, vast majority of it is unissued stuff sold as "war bringback", replica's or extremely overpriced.
Best way is to find a soldier you can contact and ask them. eBay IS an option, but unless you know how to spot a fake from a real war bringback item.. high chances you'll either overpay a LOT or get scammed with a brand new item instead of a bringback one.
@@JustaGuy1250 I only mentioned the Chinese Airsoft situation as I've seen a good few GoPro videos from both Russian and Ukrainian soldiers in the field showing plate carriers filled with plastic and foam...it's definitely difficult
@@Iwasthemilkman that's because plastic and foam are indeed part of the setup, but not the entire thing. The myth comes from troops removing the plates for re-use and other soldiers than also finding those same vests without any plates and assuming they never had plates. This same goes for ERA on tanks, Ukraine is looting and reusing anything they can.
Fairplay to the Russians on one account. Their camo blends into anything but urban environments really well.
Yeah, I've got a 6b45 plate carrier too. The uniform and equipment from the Ratnik program is pretty nice...just a shame how it's being used
If kukuri, how to fix it on the webbing
I'll be honest with you, I have no idea...I've seen them with leather frogs that allow you to put them on the Sam Browne belt system; but I didn't have an issued Kukuri
At 6.10. You are missing the leather "Brow Band" that fixes in with the 2 silver coloured press studs on the suspension. LS with that number is of 80's manufacture.
yeah, I've got a few (including a green leather one) I just can't decide weather or not to add one... especially as there's no sun fading to suggest one was on the helmet.
Nice
Very immformative cool
Thank you 👍 They are one of those weird things that are uncommon surplus-wise as they don't really have a collector's market; but finding them in a surplus store is really cool.
i have a desert dpm ospray mark 3 and its the same as urs
Tnx man, this was realy helpful 😊
I'm glad this video helped 😁 I'm hoping to review the Virtus STV sometime soon
The liner is from the dutch army from the sixties or seventies
Since making this video, I obtained the correct liner
I think le képi is not for Légion étrangère but Gendarmerie Mobile.
the rank is majeur/major…
Thank you. I bought the uniform through a 'middle man' between myself and the Legionnaire; I do my best to research these videos, however, comments from viewers like yourself help keep the history alive
got one of these for 20$ right before things went crazy in 2021 with surplus gear. no inserts but all the different add on pieces that you put the inserts in to. bought some arimid and uhmwpe sheets for really cheap, like 7$ for 4sq meters. thinking of remaking some of the inserts. plastic on top, like 5 layers, then 2-3 layrs of arimid, then 1 layer of plastic on the back, all pressed and ironed togeather. also got some level 3 uhmwpe plates for 14$ each. theyre just square back plates that are expired (late 2000s ital surpluss, not really level 3 by themselves my understanding, stops m855 greens like half the time on its own.) sent about a dozen of them to friends over in the trenches, theyre like 3.5lb each which is a crazy amount of weight savings for those guys who normally have to carry around 2x ~11lb steel plates. thats like -15lbs on the most vital kit in the trenches. think i might glue some hard comercial high traffic tiles or even sapphire watch glasses or just a layer of the highest grit size available garnet for waterjet cutters. you can get that offline for super cheap too, like 4$/lb. really like the british design. i think thats the benifit of having a small standing army, they can make changes like this quickly to their standard kit. USA is just not starting to go modular. thnks for the videos seeing what the whole kit should of included.
Always liked the EMR camo. I´ve seen also seen caps that where not as ornate like these, is that just a variation or does it have to do with the unit?
It was taken from an officer
Just so you know low boots would be worn with the m44 uniform instead of the high boots
Video is great! I forgot how to do this and have written some notes to help. Thanks.
lovely poster. do you kiss your mannequin?
Sling attachment points are on the right side the rifle, they should be on the left.
Yeah, it was done like that to allow the weapon to lie flat on the floor and not the charging handle
I've got a osprey MK2 in woodland DPM and a Mk6 helmet only as a collector things have gotten a lot more expensive thanks too the mod giving surplus kit to Ukraine and as for army and navy shop's they have jacked up all of their prices
This video proofs how well MTP blends in on every environment. Even an living room carpet. 😂
I've got a mk 3 only i just can't seem too get the main front and back plaits for it
Sadly, you wont. The armour for the MK1, 2 and 3 were always taken back and never sent to surplus depos
