    She just spent like 5 mins on one question … I don’t see how this is a viable option or strategy to utilize during the test, we won’t finish spending 3+ mins on a single question 😭

  • @Calibeamer7
    @Calibeamer7 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Pretty bad example, I would no advise anyone to go through this video for help. Why would we advise someone who is pissed off already to accept something he has already rejected help. The goal of OT is to be client centered, if there are techniques to adapt the activity such as using applications, then there is still a sense of autonomy. D can also have an argument but I believe A is the best answer.

    • @normanisangels
      @normanisangels 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. You can help him w the finances during sessions

  • @lyndawilliams4570
    @lyndawilliams4570 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would have chosen D because he clearly didn’t want his wife to help him. I’ve seen this first hand.

    • @normanisangels
      @normanisangels 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, and then you are on the chopping block for not being client centered. there's also HIPPA which would only enable you to bring the wife into it if he was okay with that. Otherwise his therapy goals are private and his own goals and by having his wife help him he may feel he has less autonomy which is an OT ethical principle that this would be in violation of. A beautiful thing about occupational therapy is that it is so focused on empowering the disabled individual The goal is just to have control over the finances, not successfully manage them. I guess they decide progressive diseases you're as functional as the end state A lot of these tests are not written by OTs, and purposely written with gaps and the time is coming when individuals can appeal unfair test scores. We have been confused too much and it honestly really bothers me.

    • @normanisangels
      @normanisangels 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Even the test prep is written to confuse you. everyone taking handouts ... Can you imagine the situation this would create if you told him he needed to accept his wife's help after you know that was a trigger... you would be creating so much more imbalance in his life and his whole family's life. Ridiculous question

    Hi! scored 310, 2 weeks out, 360, 1 week out, and 441, 3 days out (full prac) on the practice tests and was discouraged with these scores. was proactive and did some last minute tutoring with Mr James, in order to figure out where was going wrong with these border line scores then everything started going well. highly recommend working with him to do a session even if it's close to the test. My other advice is review pedretti charts, text Mr James he helped me with direct exam question and answers for the test, so will recommend working with him ! scored 459 and passed the first try. knew it was going to be borderline- but just try and stay positive!

    The way they face inside the bus usually depends on the company and or driver, I’ve personally been seated facing towards the front side and back so it just ultimately depends on how the bus/vehicle is made and policies

    I am not an OT and knew the answer right away. Even just using a lot of common sense I was able to figure this out in a second. I think OT students are trying to read a lot into the question and find all sorts of scientific explanation. The emphasis was on finding the task increasingly difficult due to the illness. Will a calculator or app help with that? No. Client still has to do the work. Will an automated bill payment change anything? No. What about leaving him alone? He just said he found it increasingly difficult to complete the task. The only possible way is to have someone who he trusts to take some of the burden off. Answer is C.

    The reason MMT & PROM weren't the "best" answers is because of the setting, Acute Care. Since patients are only in acute for around a week, the goal is stabilization, not rehabilitation. PROM and MMT are more focused on rehabilitation than stabilization, and are normally not recorded throughout acute or inpatient rehab, but will be conducted once the patient begins outpatient treatment.

    • @jessereeves3120

    The reasoning for “D” makes no sense. If the mother is supine, with the infant prone on her torso, her elbows are supported by the bed removing almost all shoulder involvement.

      I would’ve guessed A for this exact reason and C felt like a bit of a reach. I guess C is the most collaborative between B-D but I figured since it’s a degenerative condition then we should start with an adaptive approach for complete independence first and foremost

    • @ToanTheNomad

      Answer C respects the client’s goals

    • @ToanTheNomad
      @ToanTheNomad 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      His goal was never to “not accept help”; rather that he just gets upset, which is totally reasonable. As OTs our purpose is to also enable clients to cope with their issues while working with the family to provide support.

    • @nicoleventurinobrown3501
      @nicoleventurinobrown3501 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheSchmandarinOrange I was between A & C. I did not choose A however, because due to the nature of HD, it may be even more stressful to attempt to learn how to manage his finances through a new app.

    • @ToanTheNomad
      @ToanTheNomad 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nicoleventurinobrown3501 that’s a good point! Also, the OT’s role in this question is to monitor sx and make recommendations. I feel like recommending use of an adaptive strategy would require direct OT intervention to train the client in ensuring competence with the recommended strategy, which is out of the scope of the OT’s role in this question.

The reason given is diabetes maintenance aka good eating habits, could have prevented the amputation. Here’s my thought. Isn’t it enough amputees get flack about being an amputee and now it appears our own kind is disowning us. I’m a bilateral bike.

    • @christianmorrow3254
      @christianmorrow3254 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my opinion, I think the reasoning why it’s not D is because: 1. Due to Poor - muscle strength of upper body strength, the patient won’t be able to perform exercises of any kind. *Notice how A & B mention exercises as well. 2. Due to ventilation, it’s not appropriate, at this time, to do respiratory exercises. 3. Due to LE paralysis and possible pain/fatigue in the diagnosis of GBS...we want to focus on gentle PROM & proper positioning to prevent contracture or discomfort.

    • @PhD4me
      @PhD4me 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Young Dreamzzz I need your studying tips and rationale. Have you taken the test? Were you successful with your test?😊

    • @sharlenezinman3264
      @sharlenezinman3264 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      During the acute phase of GBS, the patient may not tolerate, or may not be able to participate in active movements. Although their condition may be worsening at this point, and care may be more medical than rehabilitative, occupational therapy still plays an important role. Initially, your treatment plan will likely be more consultative in nature, with patient participation being mostly passive. That is why Answer D is not correct. The patient would be unable to actively perform exercises including respiratory exercises.
