I like the fact that alot of the Canal Banks printed backs on them.I know it cost effective not to print backs, but Canal Bank was pretty profitable.Im guessing reason for so many remainders would be that some had closed and/or merged with other banks

Well done, Ontario. I liked the connections of the bank notes to the bank artifacts. It's all part of the overall history. I particularly like the pictures of the bank - that is something that I like to do - especially with any of the local banks I collect.

Well I think the reverse is very nice but I'm not a big fan of the obverse side they just try to put to much on it I mean how can you really make a nice figure of the whole woman in such a small aria. I'd rather just have the Lady Liberty head as on the other 'double eagle's' that I have. But in saying that I have a ms 65 St. Gaudens, & am hoping to get another one today if the lady is willing to sell (she's thinking about it & should tell me to day). It is in a nice gold 'rope' bezel & has a gold chain & someone had the lady silver plated, kind of odd but also kind of unique. I've been watching her with it for over 15 years & finally went ahead & offered here 3K for it a few days ago. I think it will be a fair deal for both of us.

I'm collecting all the notes from the Louisville Kentucky Bank and I've gone down some deep rabbit holes cross referencing the signatures and what they've done in my city in what roads are named after them

Wow I learned so much from this video in fact I may need to watch it a couple more times just to absorb it all. That’s the one thing about currency it can be confusing with all the different indicators and especially on nationals

Very informative, Ontario! The Kelly book is a great resource for Nationals. Only problem is getting more recent information with additional finds and pricing. There are two subscription services (annual $$) available to get more current census information: National Bank Note Census, which provides some pictures of actual notes and auction results; and Track and Price which provides pricing and auction results for anyone who wants this data. The book is cheaper and you only need to buy it once!

I find the National currency banknote series interesting and enjoyable area. When collecting paper currency. not only because of the different names on the banks. but because of their history. anytime I look at the Nationals that I purchased over the years. I always wonder who held these notes. back in the day before they were disconnected / retired as a currency. I only have the third charter period nationals ( no date on back ). I only have one dated back note. 1902 - 1908. which is my hometown banknote the rest are small size nationals from the surrounding area where I live and the towns that i traveled too.
