Good try but the HR data gave it away. No way that you can run at your max with an average HR of 143 unless if you're very unfit and in your 70's. And there's also no way that the shoes will give you that much performance benefit even if you're a responder (not everyone runs faster with carbon plates shoes, studies say). Honestly, those carbon shoes are one of the slowest that you can buy.
The real miracle is that he put 330 miles on Clifton 9s. Mine feel like flat mushy garbage and begin to bite into my ankles after like 150, 200 max. Shoes just are not made to last
I don’t think an Apple Watch is going to be the best way to tell actually how many calories you burned. I do think you burn more in the heat but as to actually how much, I think you need to get a bit more scientific than this.
Gets a side cramp, on left side, near their heart. You sure its a side cramp, and not a heart attack? People who often aren't that healthy, and over-push themselves, can get heart attacks from over-exertion.
@@samratashish9979 You do understand where the heart is, right? Its underneath the ribcage. If you meant below the ribcage and nearer to your intestines, then it could be your diaphragm or a lower belly muscle.
You won't gain weight, even if you just sit down most of the day, because your body will digest it. Unless you drank a ton of beer afterwards, you want gain weight, you might have loss some.
well id say my 5km race i felt amazing afterwards almost as if i should have gone harder lol while after a 5km race in normal ones, just feel more of a grind
As a miler I just wanna put it out there that not just anyone can run a fast mile and that all disciplines of endurance running are extremely difficult to excel at, no hate here just saying if the mile is easy you’re probably not going all out
That's a very interesting comparison. I'm curious, though, outside of the calorie difference if one is more likely to build muscle even if it burns less calories?
I feel like this is self-explanatory Running actually repaires more use of your body. Ie uneven steps forcing you to maintain balance Plus you have the actual sun beating down on your body and the natural temperature that comes with it. In a gym or at home You're more than likely constantly hydrated and have access to a well air-conditioned environment moving at the exact same pace none stop unless you change settings
Sorry but the heart rate gave you away the difference isn't as big as it seems. Normal old Hoka shoes time 2:14 pace 10:07 mile heart rate 142 Carbon Hoka Shoes run 1 1:49 pace heart Rate 162 Carbon Hoka Shoes run 2 1:52 pace heart Rate 163
Nah man, that cant be true. What is it about the heartrate being 20 beats higher (on average?) in the faster runs? You gotta match intensity for a even comparison 😅
Hahaha I just rewatched after your comment. 142 v 163 ave heart rate. I imagine new running shoes are faster, also carbon plated running shoes are likely faster... But if you put in 15% more effort then you will definitely run faster! 😂
as a fellow average/newish distance runner, i can confidently say that i am able to run at a higher max effort for a sustained period of time when i pick the lighter/newer/better-fitting shoes in my rotation over my beat up, 300+ mile shoes. idk what it is exactly, but i think it has something to do with mobility or muscle memory or something, but as a fairly new runner, my stride/ability to exert myself often has just as much to do with the shoes i’m wearing as my rest/effort in the actual workout.
@@user-oc9tc2qo1q That's called motivation. This guy tried to fool us all, that's it. How can you run a half marathon with an average HR of 142? My HM PB is 1h20m at 169bpm and I'm 40 years old.
I run in saucony endorphin pro 3s, they are carbon plated, and going plastic souled shoes to them, the difference is unparalleled. I think the decreased my pace per KM by at least five seconds - that’s liek going from a 5:28 mile to a 5:20 just from carbon shoes. With can extra one month of training I ran a 5:06 mile
1:49 is not average at all sir wow! From 2:14 that's a massive massive improvement just from shoes (assuming you didn't train for a long time in between the runs)
I know you are faster and better runner than me, but i would suggest you do lower body strength exercises barefoot, running shoes are extremely unstable for heavy lifting. Hope you give it a try and keep up great work
Carbon are useless...

Underrated TH-camr at its finest
The plate made you push harder and the Clifton’s keep you slow
what even is a carbon plated shoe? sounds like good marketihg
Yeah brother, you should squat in Clifton’s😂
Love the Rocket x1 , wonderful show, I'm also ran cross-country races with it.. :-)
Bro Ross has been having a lot of nice running shoes like altra, brooks, hokas, and ASICS lately and it’s awesome
What absolute bs. 25 mintes faster these trash ass shoes are apparently 🤣🤣
"anyone can run a fast mile" 🤡 sorry dawg
Why are you squatting in hokas?
lol
First view
They aren’t trail shoes
Don’t lift in running shoes
Weight ?

Alphafly 2 , 7a quality le sakte hai?
Where is this?
I thought hot weather would burn significantly more because of homeostasis
I feel like there’s a difference though you would be losing more water weight which you would probably gain back since you would be so thirsty
I recognize Chico when I see it!
Note: you want shoes that are flat + wide toe box for lifting especially for stability
True. I will never understand why people use tall and cushioned running shoes for lifting, it is the worse that you can use.
Also buy trail shoes
YOU GOT THEM AT ROSS?!! GEEZ Im about to go to Ross :v
Ross is generally hit and miss with stuff like that. But... definitely worth a visit from time to time. You just never know sometimes. lol

Co it's not near the heart at all, it's near rib cage, at least that's where I get it, it's like someone is pinching pin from inside the abdomen

Motivated me to not eat for the next fucking 3 days why is food so disgusting
Real, food be mad nasty sometimes

Hes so hot ❤❤

Fun fact: Costco cheese pizza has 44gs of protein per slice
Yeah for a whole 4k calorie pie❤
@@itsvp9863 nope. Per slice 👍
eating takes calories aswell as digestion, otherwise would all be incredibly overweight.
Wait until you try the most popular carbon plated racers. 💪👍🔥
Me: just doing it with- but 2:22, haha
As another comment pointed out you ran the half marathon at 2 completely different effort. No shoe on earth is cutting 24mins off a half marathon
Yeah… you’re not dropping 20+ minutes off your time because of shoes…

very good point!
U gotta do and eat the same things before and after u do both for the most precise results

I wouldn't do cardio if you're trying to build muscle, you won't build any muscle, instead do some weight training like squats.
those trackers are extremely inaccurate for calories burned.

To suggest shoes can make a 25 minute difference is laughable
@natjohnstone1689 that's not what he said. He said you can't give a fair comparison if you don't give the same effort in the shoes

Carbon plated shoes are meant for roads, not trails. Glad you sped up, but I don't know about the scientific evidence here.
Great content... Keep it up Bro... 🦾🦾🦾
