A fierce battle over a village and its vital river crossing! There are a few points in this video where we lost clips due to camera issues. Also please forgive some of the background noise as we had construction going on as we were filming.

Our first big game of Chain of Command between a British Rifle Platoon with Churchill Support and a German Panzergrenadier Platoon with Panther Support. This was a long game filmed over two days and we did make some mistakes with the tanks, chain of command dice and moral tracking but overall we had a lot of fun and hope you do too!

Bolt Action Battle Report: An Early Raid
Hey the panther is still a 9 armor so the top is an 8 so the light howitzer can cause superficial damage for indirect
Thanks, not sure why we seemed to be under the assumption that it was a heavy tank. Not sure it ever has in Bolt Action
@ yea it just has the frontal armor of 10
The sniper is infiltrator so if he dosent have a dice next to him he gets +1 to his cover save so the 4 would have saved
Isnt that Pegasus bridge?
It certainly is
@@littlerhodywargaming got a bunch of paratroopers and need this terrain to run this scenario. One day ill get it too
Bolt Action BatRep! Let's Go!
Always to see a river, and a bridge, in the middle of our tables...Nice looking game, superb terrain/buildings!
chaps - you might want to think about firing canister from a higher position. If it is high enogh to fire over a line of infantry it is highly unlikely to be in close range unless you ae several hundred feet higher. Remember that is a shotgun round and goes equally in each and every direction including beneath itself. Furthermore the general concept of penetration (shots going through more than one poor sod requires the balls that don't go too far skyward, into the ground or to the left and right should be following a vaguely horizontal trajectory. Not to make too fine a point of it, I never heard of the bloke behind Lord Nelson being hit by a penetrating round. Although it'd probably f' the deck up a bit.
Its seemed a little odd as well upon reviewing it in editing and probably wont play it that way again. Rules as written it seems correct but it does not seem like something that would've been done in practice, at least with canister round.
Nice battle report. Not sure how you guys are finding it, but we're finding that we're needing a lot more cover than v2. Open killing lanes are brutal in this edition, much easier to hit/pin, cover is essential. Keep up the videos. 😊
We have certainly noticed that, the loss of 7s to hit is nice and has made the game a lot more lethal. Cover and line of sight has become a lot more important
@@littlerhodywargaming we're adding a lot more terrain that usual. A vet. unit in hardcover is super hard to break.. also buildings are death traps..
Some rules you missed: you cannot enter a build ing and shoot hitting on top armor is +1 infiltrators units have +1 cover saves Fubar now you have to go towards the closest table edge. If you touch it your are dead (bye bye bt42 XD) wounding a unit inside the building with small arms fire have a +1 (regs dies on 5, vets on 6..etc) One unit per building HE 2 is d2 pins in point blank you cannot put down the unit, but you still have cover saves Great game btw, hope to see more of this :)
Thank you, we will have to review those!
Do your units always know where all of the enemy units are located and vice versa?
I suppose you could interpret line of sight in those terms. Cant shoot what they cant see/ know is there.
Only watched the first turn so far. Marvellous board and some savage shooting. I've only played a few games of V3, but have learned to avoid moving into a building.
Building can certainly be a deathtrap if your opponent has some decent HE weapons. Happy to hear you're enjoying it so far!
ive never heard of this game! been playing warhammer for a couple of years now but this looks so neat, great for history buffs
We all started there as well
thank you
Are you the guys who do the Snafubpodcast? A lot of the voices sound familiar
No that's not us
A great looking game on a splendid table, nice video!
Thank you!
Looks very nice...and bloody!
It was quite bloody
Oh great now I have to paint more cavalry. Good game and historical outcome 8-))
Great to see you guys playing SP again! That looked like a fast & fun skirmish :)
It was a fun game and ended up ending sooner than expected
@@teddwhitney1524 close combat tends to be fast and brutal in SP2! ^_^
Tanks should focus on tanks in a Big CoC because crashing that tank platoons FM will affect the infantry.
I believe Wills plan was to do what the Churchill did best and support the infantry and leave the tanks to the 17pdr. Also the 6pdr gun on the infantry tanks wasn't doing much against the Panthers
@@littlerhodywargaming I was thinking about the Panthers doing too much HE vs taking out the Churchills. Thank you for sharing!
I can feel for the German player in this one. Almost every die roll going against them. Can be very frustrating.
Its was rough, sometimes the tactics are there but the dice day no.
All AFVs bail on 3 shock, unless a command tank, then 4 shock.
The first shot from the 6pdr should have been a 9 or higher IMO. While the book says hull down, I don't think that is a requirement for that shot difficultly. Threading through multiple obstacles isn't an easy shot. Maybe los looks more clear on the table. Thank you for sharing.
Been enjoying checking in and watching these BA videos. Just got my copy of the V3 rulebook, do you have plans on shifting over to the new edition at all?
Happy you've been enjoying the videos! We do plan on switching over to v3 very soon. This was probably our last v2 battle report
At 6:48 which rule are you referring to that allows a unit at "maximum strength" (i.e. Full Strength) to ignore a pin until it takes its first casualty?
We actually got it a bit wrong. Its At Full Strength on Page 41. A until at full strength but with a minimum size of 10 men, that has not taken casualties can re-roll failed order tests. The bonus is lost the moment the squad takes the first casualty.
@@littlerhodywargamingthat's what I was thinking. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing.
Would love to join you guys sometime for a battle report. We are starting a meet up at TJ's every other Tuesday currently
Where did you get the dice?
I believe all the dice were purchased from Warlord Games
@ 41:36, the Brit inf firing on the Fr cav in light cover doesn't seem to be an ENFILADE shot. How does Sharp Practice define enfilade? The front line of the stands of Fr cav are NOT behind the front line of the stands of the Br inf.
There isn't a hard definition for what they consider a flanking shot, at least not from what I can find. I believe it was applied in this case because the whole of the firing unit was within the flanking 45 degree arc of the cavalry unit. It can be a little rough as its easier to maneuver a unit of skirmishers onto a flank but we typically don't consider line units to get enfilading fire unless its perpendicular to another unit.
Nice battle report. Very enjoyable
P23 second para you can't interrupt an interrupt. Great fun watching. Any way I can give a quick tip?
We realized we screwed that up on day two of filming. Tips are always welcome
@@littlerhodywargaming That's ok; my whole life has involved screwups. Coming back to the tip or beer or something?
good game always. I really don't like fighting Panthers..
Ya they were pretty difficult to deal with
Superb table and armies, what a great looking game!
Thank you!

Great game, that Prussian line took a real battering!
It did unfortunately it never got a chance to do anything
"This is most unlike you"! 😄 Well filmed and narrated. Nice table top too. Thank you both.
It will be another year or two before I have that sort of luck with Sharp Practice
Great board - looks nice - plays nice!
Nice terrain!
Thank you, we got it from www.legionterrain.com/
Great video . Some rules you might missed: -Bossk has pierce on his gun/melee - cassian teamwork token duplication with k2so - you cannot do the same action twice except move so there is no double dodge (calculate the odds is more useful especially with teamwork - E-web has cumbersome keyword: cant move and then shoot - you are panicking if you have the threshold x2 suppression token, and only drop box if you are panicked after rally.
@@Abru1988Great thanks for the corrections! We are still pretty new to the system but really enjoy it
The dice were not favouring the Brit’s there. Nice game.
No they are either extremely in my favor or not at all, there is no in between.
Looking forward to the next one you upload guys. Great work so far!
Thank you, were looking into running 29 Lets Go
Nice report, love the splendid desertic terrain!
a suggestion on die larger would be easier to see on the channel esp the pips brighter colors
both of you put on a good show thank you
thank you
points did not seem even in this one
The points were even the mortar rolls were on point for a change and completely changed the trajectory of the game. If you watch the previous DAK vs USA you see what happens when the mortar rolls aren’t as friendly lol
thank you
When the mortars rain, they reign! DAK for the win!
In our games they either hit first turn or they dont hit at all
I love it when you guys come on camera!
That was grizzly. The Vickers crew needs to get more target practice ;-) Question, one the British n charge to the German rear, aren't the rear attack defenders dice halved? Couldn't he have used a command dice to withdraw before combat? Still enjoy your BR
Lovely terrain and minis, great looking game!
Thank you!
Nice to see some people!
