33 Days Among the Bears Documentary Film
33 days is a visual journey into the unique summer lives of polar bears and the photographers that braved the mosquitoes and harsh arctic conditions in order to capture them. Filmed over 2020 and 2021 follows the journey of Martin Gregus and his team as they spent some 33 days camping in their makeshift boat camp, living next to the arctic apex predator.
Utilizing drones and custom-built equipment allowed the team to get up close and personal to the bears all the while staying invisible, often capturing intimate moments and unique hunting behaviours. Martin and his team had adjusted to showering in the 5 degree Arctic Ocean and living off of nothing but dried foods for weeks on end; all the while learning to function on three hours of bear-interrupted sleep. Observing the polar bears’ curiosity and compassion changed the lives of Martin and his team forever. The bears shared their most intimate moments with Martin’s team, enabling them to return home and share their stories with the world.

Living with Polar Bears - Day 14
มุมมอง 169ปีที่แล้ว
After 14 days of living with the bears we finally have our first real showers and meals, but none of us could have ever imagined that being back in civilization could feel so strange.
Living with Polar Bears - Day 13
มุมมอง 184ปีที่แล้ว
While we wait for our mother ship to pick us up we reflect and wait in an isolated bay just outside of our Arctic home and though excited to be heading back a part of us wonders what it would be like to stay.
Living with Polar Bears - Day 11/12
มุมมอง 79ปีที่แล้ว
Have you ever wondered what you might be thinking after being completely alone for two weeks? Well, look no further than days 11 and 12 to witness the high before the big crash as we name our last few bears and Thomas finally gets to drop the kids off at the pool.
Living with Polar Bears - Day 10
มุมมอง 304ปีที่แล้ว
Taking the time to reflect on our lives back home after a refreshing swim in the sub-zero-degree arctic ocean we debate just how truly isolated we are from the outside world; after all, as we isolate ourselves with the bears the whole world isolates itself from covid-19 during the summer of 2020.
Living with Polar Bears - Day 9
มุมมอง 64ปีที่แล้ว
Delusion sets in by day 9, but it's only short-lived as we get to experience some truly amazing moments; those cubs that came in a few days earlier slowly start to feel comfortable and it isn't long before we see them nurse and play among the flowers.
Living with Polar Bears - Day 8
มุมมอง 278ปีที่แล้ว
What you're about to hear we mean with love By day 8 Heino discovers that being a bear guard for Martin is no easy task and the lack of sleep starts to slowly show. It doesn't help that as the sun heats the Arctic millions of mosquitoes emerge causing tension not only at camp, but also among the bears.
Living with Polar Bears - Day 7
มุมมอง 84ปีที่แล้ว
The fireweed starts to solely emerge and while we are exhausted from getting up at 4am each and every single day the stories from the field speak for themselves. Athena and Hercules still on occasion visit our camp, but the real beauty comes when we go walk among them right at the crack of dawn.
Living with Polar Bears - Day 6
มุมมอง 477ปีที่แล้ว
While spirits are high myself and my team take a closer look at Athena and Hercules, the three-legged cub that day-by-day tugs at our hearts and our minds as we are unable to leave camp due to their endless curiosity.
Living with Polar Bears - Day 5
มุมมอง 211ปีที่แล้ว
Love for Wanda is in the air, but other bears start to slowly appear on the horizon and pretty soon we are surrounded by not only this 1500-pound female, but also various other bears like slick Rick and slim Jim.
How My Love for Polar Bears made me famous
มุมมอง 370ปีที่แล้ว
When I first started filming Polar Bears almost 10 years ago it was fuelled by my love for wildlife and the Arctic; I never imagined that the videos and images would go on to be published in world-renown magazines like National Geographic, winning prizes around the world, and capturing more than 50 million views online. The Polar Bears simply welcomed me into their world; allowing me to capture...
Living with Polar Bears - Day 4
มุมมอง 210ปีที่แล้ว
After a busy and amazing two days, the weather turns and Thomas explores his love for fire, collecting wood and garbage we wait for the bears to show up all the while playing with some new remote control cameras and bear alarms.

Living with Polar Bears - Day 2

Polar bears coming right up to our camp, a 1,500-pound female named Wanda, and our first full day living with the bears; this and more are just some of the adventures we encountered on day 2 of our month-long expedition.

Have you ever wondered what a wildlife photographer goes through to get THE SHOT? What it's like to live with Polar Bears without the budget or support of a major production? Well, you can now answer those questions and many others as I share never before seen footage and behind-the-scenes interviews from my 2020 and 2021 Polar Bear Expedition. Make sure you pay close attention and tune in ever...

Love the video & pics but I think it was so risky to get so close to the bears. They could have still attacked! It has happened before! They were lucky ! And then a bear kills a human that invades their territory and the poor bear gets euthanized!! Not very responsible of them to get that close! Unnecessary!! Next time they may not be so lucky! Didn’t they see what happened to the Grizzly man? Who after years of relationship with Grizzlies thought he was one of them and got eaten by one of the bears. And then the bear who ate him & another younger innocent bear got euthanized as a result. It bothers me when human beings cause these tragedies! And then others will follow trying to do the same thinking now oh see if they can get close to the polar bears we can as well!!. Please stop getting so close. Respect the wild life & these bear’s lives! They are in danger of extinction as it is. Don’t cause unnecessary tragedies !! Leave the bears be ! If they want to film them do it from far away!! Respect the wild!! This was not courageous it was irresponsible!! As per the Article National wildlife Refuge “Though polar bears may appear tame, these animals are wild and their behavior can change quickly. Viewing polar bears in the wild is an inherently dangerous activity. By law, polar bear viewing is dependent on avoiding disturbance to bears. You have an opportunity to view polar bears because people before you used responsible and safe viewing practices. Polar bear viewing will only continue if you and other viewers are careful to keep polar bears and people safe.” www.adfg.alaska.gov/static/viewing/pdfs/polar_bear_viewing_best_practices_usfws.pdf

Not just that! Putting their lives at risk and most importantly the lives of the bears! It upsets me the lack of awareness!! And yes great pics! I hope they leave these precious bears ALONE!! And don’t cause any tragedies for them & the bears as a result !

They are not senseless killers but they are still wild animals and wild life deserves to be respected & left alone. These guys broke so many rules from wild life protection getting so close & invading the bear’s environment! They put themselves at risks and the bears. If a bear would have attacked them then the bear gets euthanized or killed to defend themselves when humans are the ones who a lot of the times cause these unnecessary tragedies for what? Fame? Attention? They could have filmed them from far ! And should have. These guys were irresponsible & it irritates me they put at risk such beautiful animals ! And others may follow thinking is ok to get that close to them.
